Perhaps you can get the camera distance, angle, and focal length correct from the start by noting points on the circle which form a square (such as four of the black screws), and by imitating the view of that square in blender.
Can you do photo match of architectural environment with proper unit measurement. I find difficulty when I tried to photo match the site photos that have dimensions measured.

I haven't tested it with other things but I dont think so because the only reason why it works is because you have multiple clear lines in the image, that's also why you need studio images to properly do this
I see where you're coming from, however I feel like with the amount of manual changing that needs to be done sometimes I feel like it's a bit of an easier process within Blender itself.
