Posting “ghost jobs” should be illegal because if it is used by companies to boost investor confidence in growth then the act is deceptive and can deemed as market manipulation.

I applied for two jobs that were backdated about four or five months which I found suspicious because the job requirements weren't supermassive just to give you an idea it was education-related and the pay was between $50 and maybe close to 60 a year so it wasn't like you know you had to have like a PhD or you know 20 years of experience I was wondering what was up with that

It really does a number on your mental health as well. How can you not have thoughts of self deletion when you are literally stopped from putting food on your table?
Applying for several ghost jobs a week that each require me to enter all of my data manually into workday and never hearing back is not the hobby i had on my list to do in 2024. Personally im thinking these companies know the western economies are tanked, there are many skilled unemployed folk around so they are busy working out what's the shitest offer they can make and evidence to tell current staff to 'go do one' when they ask for an increase that even attempts to compete with constant inflation. It seemed after covid the power moved to employees and salaries increased which seemed ro terify companies. The correction is here. But at least the corporations are making record profits.
You shouldn't use a recruiter that post them as they have no ethics. 2024 report from Resume Builder said that 62% companies posted them specifically to make their employees feel replaceable. They also made ads to "trick overworked employees" into believing that more people would be brought on to alleviate their overwhelming workload.

Yes, but this Generation of Americans must reform the labor market. They must reduce offshoring and they must protect workers. That the key you don't see either Presidential candidate talking about that.

There is nothing you can do about it because its not technically a fake job. They need 10 people for the job so they hire 9 and put one more job posting out there. That one job posting racks up hundreds, thousands of applicants. They can take their sweet time blowing off thousands to find the most genius, talented, robotic hire for that "last" position. Then they repeat that process 9 more times and lay the first nine off.
Constantly complaining about what the companies are doing isn't going to change anything. Start complaining to your government so laws can change and change fast.
They do not have the right to post jobs that do not exist, ask individuals to use money and resources to go to interviews for positions that do not exist period. Recruiters, companies should be jailed for this practice!!!!
Also the amount of data collection by companies frrom jobseekers applying to ghost postings is unethical on SO MANY LEVELS.
100% should be ilegal

Not to mention the 4-6 month long interview process if they even call you back
What scares me is someone out there looking for a job is going to kill themselves because they never heard back.
