What they fail to mention is the mental health impacts it has with consistently being ghosted or rejected especially when you're starting your career out and you have no contacts whatsoever.

@@Artorius_Primus Once I applied over 300 jobs in a one year period during the Great recession. Not a single interview until i got hired. With 3 university degrees and speak 4 languages. Companies can be bunch of assholes. Don't give up eventually things turn around. The main thing I tell everyone is spend way below what you earn and invest in yourself. Start a small business and learn to invest and manage money. Now After working bullshit jobs for 25 years i work as a professional investor for myself. I make much more money than working for anyone else. I am like that guy who comes out in that movie Dumb Money. The Guy with the bandana.

There should be a system for this where companies would be afraid to draw attentions to themselves like this… Government workers should be thinking like a detective and a lawyer going at this with the mindset of “What else are they lying about?”
It will be different for each company, but they might be able to make them pay more taxes or cut undeserved supports.
Company’s worth/size → total numbers of employees → average work hours → average wages + average annual salaries → numbers of new hiring + numbers of employee firing/leaving → company profits…etc

The worst are the fake jobs that ask you to do free work for them as a part of the interview process. I say no to all free work/assignments now. I also write reviews on Glassdoor telling people they'll ask for work and then just repost the job.

Not normally a gov. intervention fan... but this is too important to our economic and quite fankly, our psychological health. We need some regulation and oversight of the 'recruitment industry'. It should really be a concern of the SEC (for pub traded entities) at the very least...

The nature of a larglely or exclusively female HR and staffing departments makes me believe that the hiring market parallels the dating market. In that, those staffs are always trying to keep their options open and maintain contact with as many potential backups as possible.

Applying for several ghost jobs a week that each require me to enter all of my data manually into workday and never hearing back is not the hobby i had on my list to do in 2024. Personally im thinking these companies know the western economies are tanked, there are many skilled unemployed folk around so they are busy working out what's the shitest offer they can make and evidence to tell current staff to 'go do one' when they ask for an increase that even attempts to compete with constant inflation. It seemed after covid the power moved to employees and salaries increased which seemed ro terify companies. The correction is here. But at least the corporations are making record profits.

You shouldn't use a recruiter that post them as they have no ethics.
2024 report from Resume Builder said that 62% companies posted them specifically to make their employees feel replaceable. They also made ads to "trick overworked employees" into believing that more people would be brought on to alleviate their overwhelming workload.

The gov labor markets using company's data for reporting employment should be investigated. This is such a common way to lie because its so easy to manipulate. You need to know what the stats reporting on are Represent. This has been a problem for a long time. Its not like this is something new.

There is nothing you can do about it because its not technically a fake job. They need 10 people for the job so they hire 9 and put one more job posting out there.
That one job posting racks up hundreds, thousands of applicants. They can take their sweet time blowing off thousands to find the most genius, talented, robotic hire for that "last" position. Then they repeat that process 9 more times and lay the first nine off.
