The most exciting iPhone isn't the iPhone 16 or the iPhone 16 Pro rather it's something completely new and it's going to push the boundaries and constraints of what we think an iPhone is capable of in its form factor by offering us a phone that has good specs in an impossibly thin and light phone, that I think could lead us to an expanded iPhone lineup that could lead to more exciting models down the road.

There is a niche trend towards minimalist smartphones. Makes sense for Apple to cover all bases, or as much of it as profitably possible. Minimalist and Apple does go together at one point. :)

But unfortunately we are in the minority and most consumers wouldn't open their wallet for a pro mini model and there is always the sub optimum battery life and the size constraints that make compromise with cameras setup a very likely outcome and all that will lead to poor sale figures and ultimately Apple will ditch it.
I’m considering not getting a pro max this time and getting a regular pro. Idk about a mini though.

I don't think its about that. I think if we were to go 50 years into the future we would see phones being very thing and lightweight while also having great battery. You need to innovate in order to improve. You're literally saying i want the same iphone that they've been producing every single year.
@@marazali2557 I did not say that, I just said that making a thinner iPhone makes no sense, the form factor is already good, so instead of focusing on redesigning an already well designed design, we should look at other updates, like faster charging, bilateral charging, wireless lossless audio, bringing Pro Motion to the standard iPhones, reducing the size of the Dynamic Island, and maybe even thunderbolt support. Those are all updates that would be helpful, redesigning the iPhone to be more prone to bendgate, have a worse battery life, and be more expensive, does not make any sense. In my opinion, if Apple wants another form factor available, they should bring back the mini iPhone. While it may not have sold as well as they wanted it to, it sold better than the plus models, and would certainly sell better than a more expensive thin and light “Air model.”

it is just a rumour. Reporters, no matter how reliable their tract record is, have to pique people's interest with unusual iphone proposals that will ultimately never come to fruition.
It's probably only us nerds who are interested in new colors on the mobile phone, material on the bezel, refresh rate, marginally better camera, etc.
In recent years, iPhone has made phones that are good enough for the vast majority of people. Everyone talks about AI, but most people don't know what it means in terms of practical functions for them. So launching a phone that is thinner and lighter in the pocket can be something that creates interest.
I think the leaks are actually pointing to a folding phone. You can can't have the same thickness as a normal iPhone in a folding phone, so I think what ever leaks are having people are misunderstanding the purpose. Not saying I want a folding phone, but just my two cents.

Personally, I would be hesitant to buy a first-generation model of a radically different iPhone. Try as they might, there have been issues with some iphone models that were quite different from a previous model.
I never buy the prototype either. I’ll let them figure out everything they did wrong before I make my purchase.
No, no, I don't want such a thin iPhone, it's uncomfortable to hold, the battery doesn't fit there, neither does the camera, still thicker is much better, a thicker phone is good to hold, a high-quality camera is essential nowadays and people need a much larger battery capacity phone. I remember a time when phone batteries lasted a week, yes they weren't smartphones, but you could make calls, send messages, play funny games, surf the web and even had a camera. What high tech are people talking about when even a normal smartphone can't even last 24 hours with average use, isn't that some high tech?! No need to make everything so thin!

Sounds super exciting to have a phone you’re going to have to charge twice a day. This makes no sense. Consumers are screaming for phones with longer battery life, and people think they are going to release this tiny ultra thin phone? I am calling shenanigans.

If battery life was 12 hours or less than that would be a big no no. Even if the phone was cheaper I don’t think people would put up with having to charge the phone through the day.
One thing I don't understand is, why is the air rumoured to cost more than the pro, but won't have the pro chip? It'll have a weaker battery and more flimsy and easier to break or bend. Makes no sense
Thin makes it harder to hold and I’d much rather have a thicker phone with a better battery and better camera zoom.

Imagine iPhone Air wasn’t your only active phone, like going to a party with a dress watch. What issues do we need to solve? Now that we have eSIMs, is this possible at all? Is there a way Apple can propose seamlessly moving phone numbers and necessary authentication across to different phones, keeping one active at a time.
I use to upgrade each year. Since the 13 pro I debated to even go to the 14 but did and two days later it was pointless. I do not plan on updating until a big change, design, or a feature that is a must have. Honestly I would be tempted to get the new SE before going to the 16 right now.
Give me a folding phone. It’s hard with the current sizes and weights to put it in the pocket, which I do when doing my walks.

No it doesn't excite me because I know they are in the business of selling phones every year. The reason to buy is not there on this one. I'd rather get joy of not spending the money and putting it elsewhere.
People DO NOT want phone that is thin, easily bend, crack when dropped, and short on battery life. So, no, I do not think iPhone air will work.
Worst, the thin phone with small battery will require user to carry around a charger and/or a powerbank to get through a day, which defeats the whole purpose of being thin and light.

I would love to have an iPhone reduced to the size of those iPod Nano's - small screen but big enough for a camera.
I think a thinner phone can work if it's smaller. Smaller means less area space to bend. But less battery. Less internals.
I would worry that with Apple's push into AI as well, that they may not be able to shrink a phone smaller without gutting the capabilities, and that might be a big turn off for people. Who wants a new iPhone that can't have AI? Even the 14 pro people are mad their phone won't get it, lol.
But I ultimately agree with Greg in one of his replies to another comment. More options is always good. I think the market for portable batteries and chargers mean people can be worried about battery size.
And it wouldn't be impossible for people to get a smaller, but thicker phone if they had a mini with a battery slapped on with magsafe.

it will be a bonanza for people who test the durability, throwing it from height, bending it and all forms of abuses. After the initial excitement fizzled out, I don't think it will sell well enough for Apple to keep making it and will meet the same fate as the mini and the plus models. People say they want innovative form factors but won't give up the premium spec sheet of the pro models as a trade.
I just want a foldable iPhone that when expanded, switches to iPadOS or docked to MacOS.
This iPhone air/slim model seems a bit odd. I’ll have to judge this thing when it comes out. And see what the pros and cons are.

The only reason I think rumours are coming out now is because this year's bunch of iPhones are not changing much at all, and it's a subtle hint to people that they might want to hold off for another year. Good work at always though

Yes. Weaker battery too. Non pro chip. Higher price tag. Not sure what idiot would buy a more expensive phone than the pro, with weaker specs, weaker battery and just weaker overall. @@mohammedfaiisal I'd prefer a thinner phone. I'm not on my phone all day, I'm not addicted to social media, etc. Battery life isn't a concern for me. I've hated how tech has gotten thicker and heavier over the decades. Also, if they went with a metal back, it would be sturdy enough. Obviously, don't sit on it/don't use it as a Frisbee. That goes for any phone, though.
It being more expensive would be a bit painful, but I also hate having stuff in my pockets to begin with, and this would be amazing.
@@ReclaimerTyphoon that's not the point. Who sits and uses their phone as a Frisbee? No one does. The iPhone 6s bent easily by just having it in your jeans pocket. Some of the iPad pro m4 arrived bent. The air or slim is supposed to be even thinner. That is going to bend even more easily. A thin phone is great, but not half a cm thin. 7mm is fine, especially if it had curved sides like the iPhone x. The iPhone X was about 7.7mm so that's why I said 7mm is fine. Doesn't need to be lower than that. It's a huge risk and the fact that it's not going to get the pro chip and specs, but will cost more, is ridiculous. It won't sell well if it's priced more than the pro max, but not better than it. The design change isn't worth paying extra 600 for. The value of that phone will be half of what it'll be priced for
@@mohammedfaiisal An iPhone would be harder to bend, because it's smaller than a tablet. The larger length of a tablet allows for more of the body of the device to act as a lever. I've seen the tear downs - the new iPad is *pretty* resistant to bending. It's not perfect, but it doesn't have to be yet. A thinner iPhone can be engineered in the same way, and bend less easily because of it being shorter.
With that said, they said back then that iPhone 6 bent by simply *existing* in a jeans pocket, but I re-read those reports, etc., and it wasn't just *in* a pocket. It was actively used, for something like a week, and then maybe the last thing the person was wearing was jeans... and if you ask me, they must have been some tight, skinny jeans, and they probably just put too much pressure on it.
Personally, I'm not worried about it. I don't wear skin-tight, rigid jeans made out of cement, and I would take care of the thing. And I would have Apple Care+. It would be fine, and I would reap the benefits.

I don’t think most consumers even care about a redesign of the iPhone. I believe the people want internal upgrades, UI, Battery life, etc. The only reason I can see Apple making a thinner iPhone is because of their commitment to be carbon neutral by 2030. Thinner devices means less material.

Nah,I think Apple have learned from that one.The latest iPad Pro’s are the thinnest ever and tests so far have shown them to be very rigid.
@@davidjacobs6244 And that's saying something, because a tablet is way bigger, meaning there's more leverage at every point, at any given time during regular use. A thin, metal-backed iPhone would be stronger than even the iPad.

It doesn’t seem that it will ever be resolved but I’d like to see the Jony Ive ‘single slab of glass’ iPhone with no Dynamic Island, pin hole or notch. Maybe a UDC can never be good enough but I’m finding when I occasionally watch videos on my iPhone, the few that are in native 18:9 show a bit of Dynamic Island intruding into the border and I don’t like it. Just making it thinner isn’t a radical redesign in my view and has all the downsides everybody lease has mentioned as well!

I don't find attractive a phone so thin. "Bendgate" might happen again plus, battery life might be compromised. I have the 15 base model and its thickness if fine for me.

If it is a 12hr battery, then this is doomed to fail.
The only way I see this happening is if they make a foldable iPhone, which wouldn’t be a good idea in a way because people would buy even less iPads.

I'm not sure if I'd take a free one. I just bought my favorite Samsung for 134 bucks .mint service ..bone cheap. Just because you can ,doesn't mean you should. I still don't know why we need three cameras ...but I make very few calls ..ever.
There are already 6 differently named iPhone models on the market right now, but ok.

I have to disagree with your assessment of what you think most people want !
I really think being thin is pretty low on most people’s priority list.
Personally I dislike small or thin or both of those in devices , and that is because 9 times out of ten when companies go for these type of dimensions in hardware it usually comes with a loss of features, compromises , possibly less durability , in comparison to love my brick of an iPhone 14 Pro Max, and it had taken the hard knocks of an old clumsy bugger for nearly two years, and still works like a beauty , and it has proven itself in other ways too.
As a dude that’s had 8 flagship android phones from different manufacturers, to me cosmetics is a fair way down my priority list as is looking cool , give me function over form every time!
What I would like to see from Apple is a bit more ram , a bit more storage on the entry level of all models , give us more battery , call me old fashioned…. I’d love to see the 3.5 mm headphone jack come back , I still use wired phones to this day.
I’m a 6 footer with big hands and digits , I’d happily have a slightly wider bigger device , which is easier to type on , easier on those of us that don’t have 20/20 peepers , Apple is already doing things to make IOS a bit more Androidy with customisation, and that’s a good thing , at the same time I like the way Apple does stuff its own way, I even like the walled garden …. Which is a nice and kinda exclusive thing that Apple has going compared to Android.
I’ve said this many times, just being trendy or different does not necessarily mean good ( and this goes double for cars ! ).
I like apples predictable and safe approach which also allows refinement of the product.
I also have a galaxy and a pixel 8 pro that are very different, but my carry around is the trusted and true big iPhone .

For me, iPhone air is a speculating and making noise. I believe that this phone can be made, but at battery life cost and this is a problem.

I would always prefer an ultra slim design which is very sleek but with a strong durable full flat frame and the newest battery technology for higher battery density in a compact form

getting an android was arguably the best tec choice iv made it years...the freedom in software / apps has been an absolute game changer. Not needing to be fed apples garbage like Itunes to access basic functionality. I'll never buy another apple product again.
