TRUTH UNTOLD has a story of it's own ..
it is about a man who believed he was ugly. He stayed in his castle all the time. He used to cover his face if he needed to go outside because he was ashamed ..he owns a garden that grows unique blue flowers one day he saw a beautiful woman stealing flower from his garden.. he was enraged so he put his mask on & followed her to see what she would do with the flowers ... it turned out she was poor and selling the flowers to make a living .. he felt bad and plant lots of flowers the women would come everyday to take flowers and he eventually fell in love with her..but he was too ashamed to confess his feelings because of his face so he used to watch her from far one day the woman stopped coming and he was so confused .. so putting his mask on he left his garden to find out what happened he found that the woman has died ... then he was so heartbroken and angry on himself because it was too late for him to confess... and he realised that he could tell her about his love because he never loved himself

FYI, the "Italian myth" of the smeraldo flower is fictional...it came from the smeraldo blog, a fictional blog to promote the Love Yourself album releases, and was created for the Bangtan Universe. It isn't an *actual* Italian myth.

@@WinningTime328 In the Highlight Reels, if you've seen them, Jin has a bouquet of smeraldo flowers when he goes to meet the notebook girl, right before she gets hit by the car, of course.
He got those flowers from a new shop selling smeraldo flowers. The owner of that shop (all made up, of course) is the one who "wrote" the smeraldo blog, and they provided the "Italian myth" as an explanation in the blog for where the flower came from.
In the BU it's actually the flower delivery truck that hits the girl because Jin realizes they forgot to include the card with the bouquet and called them to come back.

Firstly, please don’t apologise for what you don’t know. Even the most ardent ARMY once knew nothing about them, and with seven members it takes time! I love how open-minded you are, as well as your appreciation. Btw, from the clips your band sounds awesome. I’ll be checking out more of their sound. Personally I wish you hadn’t been given the ‘stage mix’ because I think they tend to take away from the performance (but that’s a personal opinion) and I also believe this is not the best live vocal performance out there, however it does show you how consistent they are.
You've done a rap line song and a vocal line song...you should definitely do a song with all 7 of them now. :) I personally recommend Fake Love! I have a feeling based on your appreciation for this song that you'll also really like that one lyrically.

Also i want to comment about your points about not wanting to take the spotlight from each other, coz its so true. As we know from behind the scene clips of the tour, all these ad-libs are pre-planned and they talk about it before hand. They encourage each other to add a little spice to each performance, since they have to perform this song many times throughout the tour. Overall, theyre all very supportive of each other. About the meaning, this song is from their Love Yourself album series and comes from their 'Love Yourself: Tear' album. This album is the second of the series and discusses the dark side of love. The heartbreak, the insecurities, tearing yourself apart to fit a mold, etc. This album follows the 1st in the series that talks about fated love, the "honeymoon" phase of a relationship (not excluding non-romantical relationships). And the series is capped off with the 3 album, that talks about how love comes from within and self love should always be the first step of loving and living. Sorry for the essay lmao :)

He is one of the Rappers ( who opened Outro-Tear). RM is the primary songwriter of BTS ,along with Suga n J-Hope ( the other two rappers) who write their own verses in all the songs they are a part of.

The leader and main rapper, RM (aka Kim Namjoon), the first guy from your previous reaction, is the one who wrote this song. In fact, he has written the vast majority of the group's songs, along with different members and other people sometimes. He's very educated and intelligent, and you can tell by his lyricism in all their songs. I'd definitely suggest watching a guide to the whole group, the one many other armys have already suggested, because it helps getting a much better idea about their story, as well as each member individually:)

i love that you said Jins voice brought out an emotional response from you because thats one of his talents, he can make people cry or go through a journey with his voice which is not to be underestimated- along with his amazing range, making people get sucked into a song is not something just any singer can do, when someone makes you feel their words and voice in your heart its that much more precious.

But pick any one of them and you will hear incredible cadence, flow, vocals, harmonies, deep and insightful lyrics, and always, their honesty and genuine love for their music and dedication to their craft. If you enjoy the vocal line, I would recommend 00:00 Zero O'Clock. As for the Alto Tenor that you commented on (the third singer in the first verse), that's Jin and if you like his voice, I would recommend his solo Epiphany or one as the full septet of BTS called Crystal Snow where he has a triple high note and is one of the most impressive vocals I've heard live from him. I dont think anyone have mentioned so I just wanted to recommend the song Crystal Snow. Its in japanese and there are all seven members in it. The live version is just fenomenal!

For me, tour "Love yourself: Answer" is one of the most meaning tours, which they have ever done. This song is my weak spot and mainly Jimin's ending part, when he is singing in Korean.
I can recommend for sure the version from Bangkok, where they were performing and Jimin's line there is the best of all concerts during that tour.
I really admire them for everything they do. Even though Jimin and Taehyung had serious health issues during that tour with their voices, they did excellent job as always.
They're my love, my pride, my home, my life...After entering this fandom and getting to know them better, they made me stay and I don't wanna leave at all. As Yoongi once said: ,,Once you enter our fandom and get to know us, you'll be stuck with us forever without need of leaving." 🌹

As everyone else already noted, BTS created a fictional Italian legend and built this song on it which promotes the idea of their album series: Love Yourself. It is a gorgeous song, and it's mind blowing how much care and detail they always put in their craft. If you start diving in deeper you'll see how many of their MVs are shrouded in mystery and how many theories explaining their meaning there are. I'd recommend Blood, Sweat and Tears as one of their most artsy MVs ever. It's from 2016, and the imagery is insane. It's based on a book Damien and talks about temptations of growing up. This song is harder too because remember during concert, they have a lot of setlist with high energy choreography. Very exhausting. Always amazed how can they conserve energy for the whole concert.
One of the most beautiful and well made BTS songs. House of Cards, Pied Piper and Butterfly are amazing too. They have so many genres... And I suggest you check out their solo songs. Jhope killed it in Chicago Lollapalooza 2022. People call it now Hobipalooza because he was sold out in an instant. And has a performer, you will love it for sure for how different it is. 💜

This's a beautiful and sad ballad, based on the Italian story of La Città di smeraldo. The blue flower they mention is the Emerald Flower, which is part of the fiction of the story; although BTS has already used it in MV's, an album cover and performances.
It's one of BTS's collaborations with DJ Steve Aoki, since he's a co-composer and was the producer of it.
And as always the boys show the good performers they are as they convey the feeling with their voice and expressions.

This song was inspired by a legend created in northern Italy, called "la cittá di smeraldo", which portrays a story based on the fictional smeraldo plant. The meaning of this flower is "a truth that cannot be told." This legend tells the story of a man who lived hidden and isolated from everyone in a tower, as his appearance was horrible and monstrous, causing him to hide. The only thing that made him happy was his Smeraldo flower garden, which he cultivated with so much love. One day, a poor woman in old clothes appeared in her yard and began stealing all the flowers that were there. He was irritated, but the woman appeared in his garden every day to collect them. So he decided to wear a MASK to go out into the city and find out what the girl did with the flowers. Until he discovered that she, being very poor, sold them to have something to eat. But, instead of showing up and allowing her to pick the flowers, the man went to his garden to discover new ways to make the plants more beautiful and in greater numbers, so that the woman could earn money and, when the flowers finally bloomed, the woman didn't come back. This is because, without enough money selling them, he died of hunger. And with this song, BTS tells us that if the man had loved himself and not hidden behind masks, the girl's fate could have been different. And this happens to us who often wear "masks" or a socially acceptable face to hide our 'true self' and not be judged. In other words, the truth untold tells us: Love yourself and don't hide behind a mask. The song can be interpreted as a reflection on the insecurity and loneliness that often accompanies unrequited love or the fear of opening up to another person. The use of masks, mentioned in the lyrics, symbolizes the barriers that people create to protect themselves from being harmed🇧🇷💜
You mentioned "raw", which is a word that I have used often in my journey as ARMY. Although they give raw emotion in everything they do, they are so super polished and perfected. They are NEVER disingenuous. They show us who they really are, without pretension and THAT is why their following is so huge. They taught us that it is safe for us to be ourselves. To love who we are. To forgive. To love deeply. To be kind to ourselves and to protect those we love. BTS are literally food for my empathetic soul. They can project huge emotions with such powerful sincerity. And as the truly uncommon factor that makes them my all time favs- they are mindful. They are the group that acknowledges pain but encourages healing. Truly one of a kind.
Thank you for your appreciation of all their vocals. Jin (alto-tenor you mentioned) is my personal favorite. His voice is so emotional to me. Epiphany is my anthem. Jin majored film and theater and it really shows. I truly believe he feels every word he sings. His vibrato and falsetto are beautiful. I also love that all his solos have some rock elements.

Wow, this was a great review. You articulated what I’ve been feeling since becoming a huge fan several years ago. Along my journey, and as a singer myself, I fell in love with each of the vocalists voices for how unique and passionate they were. What I love about them as a group is that they don’t overdo it with a million vocal acrobatics or as you said the members don’t try to draw attention to just themselves. They really work as a unit and make the whole group shine. I also love that you gave Jin ( Alto/Tenor) a shout out. I often feel he doesn’t get the credit he deserves sometimes. They are all exquisite vocalists.
Thanks for the reaction. To me this is a master piece , its some of the best examples of each one of the vocal lines abilities. They each have very different styles of singing but blend so so well. BTS are very good at evoking emotions , and showing their emotions during performances even the rap line has brought out emotions for me and I wasn't even into rap. Anyway thanks again.

i remember in 3 different performances of this song (as this is a stage mix), each had one member who was sick, and yet they still performed amazingly like professionals which is pretty admirable! you should definitely get into taylor’s guide to them (we don’t mind long videos) or some more song recommendations that are all 7 of the members in a song are run bts, your eyes tell, and dionysus (i highly recommended watching their full mma 2019 performance, as it has a bunch of new songs for you to discover, with 2 of them, dionysus and boy in luv having a little more of rock elements!)

According to the writing credits, RM from BTS (aka: Nam Jun Kim) helped to write this song, however he does not sing with the four other members of BTS.
You mentioned that whoever wrote this song clearly had a broken heart so can we deduce that RM was going through something when he helped to contribute to this song? I think that's a valid perspective.
From reading some of the comments, apparently this song is based on an old story but I also think that this quartet (V, Jimin, Jungkook and Jin) each reached into their own personal experiences to sing their parts as someone whose heart was broken.
Whether you want to admit it or not, I think it's safe to say that everyone has had their heart broken at least once in their lifetime.
Their voices are simply incredible.

BTS has a fictional storyline that runs through some of their music videos. In that storyline there is a blue flower called the smeraldo flower (which is featured in a fictional Italian fairy tale). The smeraldo flower features prominently in their storyline, so it is more a BTS specific reference rather than a Korean reference. :)
