💜The Truth Untold - for anyone who doesn't know.... this is how they conceptualised the song: They created a very old and sad story called, 'La Città di Smeraldo' that takes place in a small town in Italy ( in the 16th Century -1500's). The story's about an 'ugly' man who hid in an old castle alone, even though he was a gentle good person, because of his looks he received lots of hate & cruelty while growing up. He never opened his heart to anyone. Eventually if anyone tried to approach him, he covered his deformed face with a mask and hid in fear, ...So he became bitter and angry. His one happiness in life was to plant beautiful flowers in his walled off garden. One night a woman appeared near the man's castle. She jumped over the garden fence and stole a flower. This angered the man at first. So he watched his garden all night. But when he fell asleep, the woman took another flower. This continued for several nights. The man pretended to be asleep and watched the woman steal a flower. He started becoming curious about the woman. He began waiting for her. Without realizing he started waiting for her to come and each day began to seem a little brighter. Following after her one day he realized that she was selling the flowers that she stole from him to try to make a living. The man falling in love so desperately wanted to help the woman. But he was afraid she would be terrified by the way he looks if he approached her. He 'knew' she would never be able love his 'grotesque' appearance. He came to a conclusion that the only way he would be able to help her is to keep himself hidden and let her continue stealing flowers from his garden. The man decided to make a flower that doesn't exist on the planet. So that the woman could sell them at a expensive price. He began to create the flower in his castle. After many unsuccessful attempts, the man created the most beautiful of all flowers (The Smeraldo Flower) and filled his garden with these beautiful flowers. But the woman stopped coming. No matter how long he waited she never came back to his garden. He eventually found out that the woman had starved to death before he could give her the flower that would have saved her. If only he had been brave enough to approach her😭 The smeraldo flower plays a part in the Bangtan Universe storyline, and you will see it in various MVs. The Smeraldo flower symbolizes the sincerity that could not be delivered. The moral of the story, as interpreted by BTS, is that people are entrapped in the depths of misery and darkness due to a lack of self-love and confidence. The protagonist would have probably felt much better, had he talked to her and confronted his fears and insecurities. In addition, another aspect is the way people are affected by childhood trauma and dysfunctional families. The man was highly affected by his childhood trauma caused by nasty comments made by people. Have a WONDERFUL Day💜💜

Yes, flowers are a recurring symbol in BTS songs, RM in particular seems to find inspiration on them & references them a lot in his lyrics. Also, you are correct the theme is connected to that of Fake Love. Both songs are from the same album, Love Yourself - Tear. Excellent album. If you ever wondered what a song from the perspective of the celestial object formerly known as Pluto might sound like, try the next track on the album, 134340.
In his 2018 speech at the UN, RM mentions that Ilsan, his hometown, "is a really beautiful place with a lake, hills, and even an annual flower festival." 🌺

You were correct, this is a "stage mix" video where they take the live track from one performance and overlay multiple live videos to get the best angles/outfits/moments etc. Notice Jin has both blonde and black hair, V is vibrant red in some shots, and JK goes from brown to pink, and Jimins silver/blonde .
There are many versions of this song in live performances, but, when Tae harmonizing the Jin's verse, it is an absolute pleasure. My favorite so far, their vocals are amazing, so much talent.
This song, “The Truth untold” is based on an Italian story, “La Citta di Smeraldo”. The story describes a man who is said to be ugly and lives in a castle all by himself. Read on it. To clarify, it's not an actual Italian story. It's part of the Bangtan Universe: there is a post on the (mock) blog of the (fictional) flower shop were Jin('s character) buys the (fictional) Smeraldo flower. There, the (fictional) shop owner tells the (fictional) Italian lore for the flowers

We all love and obsessed with jimin voice ,jimin personality, jimin dance he is the definition of perfection ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is a vocal line song. This is a compilation video of multiple live performances. You'll find a number of compilations for certain songs from live performances.
The song is basically a Beauty and the Beast story, but with a sad ending. Fake love is about hiding your true self and trying to change yourself to fit someone else's image of you. This song is about hating yourself to the point of not even allowing yourself to be seen by the one that you're enamored with. Because he wouldn't allow her to even see his face, while he was busy hiding and working to create something that could help her, she became ill and died. It leaves him wondering if he had been braver or loved himself enough to have more confidence, would she still be alive if he had had the courage to approach her? Also, this is what is called a "unit" song. Because there are so many members in the group, like most K-pop groups, the members will split into various "units" for specific songs. This is a common unit, called the vocal line, because it's all four vocalists. Songs with the three rappers are called rap line songs. There is also the "hyung" line, with the four oldest members: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, and RM and the "maknae" line with the three youngest members: Jimin, V, and Jungkook. There are also two pairs of members born in the same year: the 94 line and the 95 line. J-Hope and RM are the ones born in 1994 and Jimin and V born in 1995. There are nicknames for most pairs in the group, too. J-Hope and Suga are Sope. Jimin and V are V-min. V/Taehyung are Jungkook are usually called Taekook. Rap/Vocal line and Hyung/Maknae lines are the most common, I think.
Nathan, I’ll appreciate any BTS cover you do. 👍 this song made me cry when they dropped the album it was in. They performed this song plenty of times at different concerts and each time it’s a difference in how they sing it. shout out to Steve Aoki for producing this beautiful track for our vocal line. 💜
Nathan - don't translate it! Just learn the Korean pronunciation for the song. There are some more or less accurate pronunciation guides (usually called romanization, it's in the English alphabet). It's sufficient enough to do a cover. It isn't too hard to pronounce. ARMY would truly appreciate a Korean language cover no matter the pronunciation, because it's obvious you're sincere in your appreciation.
@@Kahli21 Tbh I *really* appreciated Nathan’s all English Fake Love. I think he would be able to do something similarly amazing for The Truth Untold , and we would get another BTS gem to enjoy, win-win. 💜
Vocal line songs always go straight to the heart. There is some book or story this song was inspired by. Steve Aoki produced the song and with a number of other writers wrote the song with RM. Hauntingly beautiful always comes to mind when I hear it. I am glad you liked the song and performance.
It was inspired by the Bangtan Universe storyline. There is a myth in the BU world about the Smerldo flower which relates directly to Jin's character's character development, and is based around this.
Do a cover! Im sure others have said, Kim Namjoon often uses flowers and nature imagery in his lyrics and poetry, like my fav of his Wild Flower. When you read stuff like that in the songs i think its usually him who writes it.
BTS has always had countless different messages in their music, whether more important or less important, every album or trilogy of theirs, is a specific subject, which they choose and will be part of the concept of the album, in terms of colors etc.. .their messages and evolution with each album are always more important. They have more than 300 songs
there are only 4 of them because they’re the tannies’ vocal line - jin, jimin, v and jungkook. the other 3 are the rapline - rm, suga and jhope. this song is a collab with steve aoki - surprising because this is obviously a ballad and i only knew then that steve usually does up-tempo songs. this is also a stage mix, hence the different views and hair colors but similar stage costumes. this is a compilation of the performances of The Truth Untold thanks btw, for your reactions to this song~😊
The lyrics to this song are so heart wrenchingly beautiful. There is a complete tale about a lonely mwn rejected by is family living in isolation and his garden in which he grew a one of a kind flower for a maiden that he never gave her.💜
this is absolutely one of the best songs of the boys, Their "ballad" songs have something that makes the difference. Some other groups have good singers, good ballad songs but they are just other ballad songs. BTS ballad songs... have something that breaks you are different because they are not the typical ballad songs and that's what made them so special.
FINALLY!!!! Lol. I knew you’d love it! I’d be interested to see you cover it too. This song is a favorite…they’re emotions just fill every note. This is the “vocal line” so it’s just 4 of the 7 members and it’s a compilation video so it’s a combination of several performances and the sound from one performance. Keep it going. You’re doing great!
RM wrote this song inspired by the story "La cittá di Smeraldo", is a sad story about a man than thinks that there's nothing worthy about him and falling in love. 😪 And yes Smeraldo is a flower 😊
Masking and the desire to reveal one's true self to another is a recurring theme for BTS because it repeats itself during our lives. The Truth Untold is appealing because few people have never felt this way. The longing for connection is powerful.
The flower is the same flower we saw in Fake Love mv. Both songs are part of the BTS Universe - a functional storyline that runs through many songs and albums.
Don’t worry about stopping, you can’t do your reaction without stopping. Jimin was ill for one of the performances of this I think. He asked JK to take over his part if he couldn’t sing but he got through it without resorting to handing over to JK. The story this is based on, ‘La Cittá di Smeraldo’ is rather like ‘Beauty and the Beast’. The Smeraldo flower doesn’t exist in real life. You’ll see Jin with the flower in one of their other songs.
It's a compilation of multiple live performances and this is just the vocal line performing. Same with Dimple. And they say "once you Jim in, you can't Jim out" for a reason. He's such a charismatic performer and his voice is delightful.
Yeah Love Yourself: TEAR was my 1st album I bought, it is part of the Love Yourself Trilogy and it focuses on accepting who you are, learning to love yourself and generally darker themes of what can happen if you dont...the toxic love fake love kinda aspect of things.
They're only 4 members ,( Jungkook, Jin, Jimin & V) representing the Vocal Lines. They all have different texture of voices that compliments and Blends well with each other voices. And this song really is emotional . It would be nice of you to make a cover, too.
this is the vocal line (v, jimin, jungkook and jin) song, so is house of cards that you already did also this is the stage mix live, it's a compilation of many live but i believe they choose the sound from just one live
You're definitely very observant, catching the relation to Fake Love and the flower imagery. Both songs come from the same album. BTS albums are released in (mostly) trilogies that explore specific motifs that align with their personal journey. And when you string them all together, they chart their development as artists and people: 🔹 School trilogy (2013) - Their dreams and concerns as school-age boys. There are both love songs and criticisms of the Korean school system. Key symbols: dreams (big house, big cars, big rings) 🔹 Youth Trilogy (2015) - Growing up and moving on as young adults. Also tackles inter-generational conflicts and the anxieties of youth _in this economy(!)_ Key symbols: fire, running, camera, sea 🔹 Wings (2016) - The pains and temptations as you come into adulthood. Key symbols: wings, blindfold, crossroads 🔹 Love Yourself (2017) - The journey to learning to love others by first loving yourself. Key symbols: flowers, masks, sand 🔹 Map of the Soul (2019) - Exploring oneself from the outwards in. Key symbols: stars, lights, shadows, time
YAY! I wanted you to cover this song!!! Can't wait! Every year we as fans get to see photos of the cherry blossoms that bloom. RM is one of the main writers for BTS and he's into nature. He takes us on bike rides. We've gone to the water and he's caught tiny crabs. He's such a nerd at heart. And flowers, his last song is about lying down field of flowers. As hectic as their lives are, RM brings a calm to my life. I'm OT7 but I've always had a thing for Jimin's voice. Okay, time to get to work on those english lyrics!
4:40 theres definitely recurring imagery across bts projects flowers, wings/flight, the sea, the moon/stars. My favorite silly one is bts not knowing where the party is, they've been asking for years and no ones told them
Their live performance of this song where they were all in those flowerly outfits is the best. Yes there were only 4 of them, the vocal line. I found this song very very sad. The flower was a big motive in that era I think. They used to have this Bangtan Universe which has its own lore. There is this impossible mythical flower in it. Smeraldo I think it was called. It became a very good symbol where a lot of complicated emotions were expressed. Aside from that though, flower is always a good metaphor for a lot of stories of emotions anyway. Thanks for your reaction as always.
It’s a cut together of several different live performances, which is why they show everyone singing in several different outfits. It’s the way it was edited. It’s in the title: “Live stage mix”
Sometimes BTS will also do solos, subunits, vocals only, or raps only in their albums so this song is a song with only the vocal line. If u check out the album, u will encounter the song by the rap line. Fake Love & the Truth Untold r from the same album, Love Yourself: Tear which is a part of their Love Yourself era trilogy hence the similar theme in both songs.
I had never heard this song. It is really beautiful. Thank you so much for showing it. I wish BTS vocal line would do more songs like this, singing at the same time with harmonies and ad libs. They did such a great job.
This is such a beautiful song. I get chills every time. All their voices are haunting. I do the same thing - I hear Jimin and it's my favorite, then JK comes in and it's my favorite, then V with his deep voice and it's my favorite and then Jin kills it :) And, damn it, they're beautiful!! And those outfits!! It's like a bunch of fairy tale prince charmings serenading you 🤣🤣It's perfection!! Sure, you should have fun and do a cover! I wish I had musical skillz!
Someone in the comment section stated the story of this song inspiration The Smeraldo flower.. The Smeraldo Flower is also the conclusion of LOVE YOURSELF series albums (Her, Tear, Answer) if you see the design of their LY series album the final design connects all of it is the Smeraldo flower
You were spot on with the theme thing Nathan, because The Truth Untold is from the same album as Fake Love - Love Yourself: Tear. And they always have a certain theme for every album. So in short, I'll try not to spoil too much, there is a trilogy called Love Yourself. LY Her, LY Tear and LY Answer. The first one is about what we would call "a puppy love": you are in love, everything is perfect, you think you have it under control etc. From this album you should check out Serendipity (an intro, sang by Jimin, please do a live performance as its amazing and it has the longer version of the song) and the title track called DNA. LY:Tear is about that point in relationship where everything goes south and you realise the love is not true or that its not enough. You've already heard the main single Fake Love and now the vocal line song The Truth Untold. I highly recommend listening to the rap line song from the same album called Outro:Tear It MUST be a live performance (preferably the one from Wembley, in their black outfits 😂), you won't regret it, I swear. And then we go to LY Answer, which is about realizing to truely love another you need to accept and love yourself first. The songs most alined with the theme are Epiphany by Jin (again, must be live perf, because It's the longer version of the song AND Jin rocks that performance) and the title track - Idol (with this one watch the MV firts as the live performance is often remixed). Uff, that was long but I hope you reached the end and I could be helpful 😅
I love to hear music professionals fall in love with BTS. Your reaction is amazing and I love to hear you break down their vocals and their techniques. I’m really enjoying this binging all your videos.
Wish more people would understand the meanings behind BTS songs. They would love and feel what these young men are all about. Kindness, truth and love 💜
This is called vocal line, tht is y they're 4 of them. RM, Suga and Jhope is rapline.. the hve their own unit too. And this song and Epiphany by Jin, is definitely two songs i believe u will do cover. And just wnt to tell u, my bias is JIMIN 💜
You were not wrong. This video is what is called a " stage mix," a compilation.

😘💕Todo BTS geniales, pero la voz tan hermosa, unica, genuina de Jimin el esquien siempre me toca y me llega hasta el corazón, bendiciones a mil 💛👑💜
I think you should react to the compilation of Jimin's live high notes and raspy vocals.. There you can dig and know more about Jimin's vocals, Nathan 😊
I love how you smile every single time Jimin sings hehe.
Todos son increíbles pero Jimin es especial. Su voz única me llega tan adentro.
I did not realize Steve Aoki produced this. Thanks for this
@@Kahli21 Tbh I *really* appreciated Nathan’s all English Fake Love. I think he would be able
to do something similarly amazing for The Truth Untold , and we would get another BTS gem to enjoy, win-win.
One of my favorites, I think you need to listen to zero o'clock now, Jin's High note blows me away🤌🥰
Blue and Grey is another beautiful song by BTS, beautiful melody
Looking forward to listening to your cover......especially JK's adlibs/runs and Jimin's high note towards the end.
Jin Abyss 💜💜💜💜
Great song very beautiful 🌸 Jimin's delicate, sweet, angelic, emotional and strong voice ♡
Not one comment on how beautiful their voices are (and this song is)? This song floored me. I think it’s stunning
😢I love Taehyung's deep voice 💜
there are only 4 of them because they’re the tannies’ vocal line - jin, jimin, v and jungkook. the other 3 are the rapline - rm, suga and jhope.
this song is a collab with steve aoki - surprising because this is obviously a ballad and i only knew then that steve usually does up-tempo songs.
this is also a stage mix, hence the different views and hair colors but similar stage costumes. this is a compilation of the performances of The Truth Untold
thanks btw, for your reactions to this song~😊
Can't wait for blood sweat and tears
The lyrics to this song are so heart wrenchingly beautiful. There is a complete tale about a lonely mwn rejected by is family living in isolation and his garden in which he grew a one of a kind flower for a maiden that he never gave her.💜
yeah you're right, ttu and fake love belong to the same album, which follows the theme of changing who you are for someone else
this is absolutely one of the best songs of the boys, Their "ballad" songs have something that makes the difference.
Jimin 🥰 Self-made Artist!!
Вечный подпевала в хоре.
@@ЗинаВиноградова-щ9етэхён провал
RM wrote this song inspired by the story "La cittá di Smeraldo", is a sad story about a man than thinks that there's nothing worthy about him and falling in love. 😪 And yes Smeraldo is a flower 😊
Masking and the desire to reveal one's true self to another is a recurring theme for BTS because it repeats itself during our lives. The Truth Untold is appealing because few people have never felt this way. The longing for connection is powerful.
I'm in love with this song, BTS's vocal LINE together has no comparison 🤌🏻💜👏🏻✨
Louder than bombs.
What a gem! Unfortunately they have never performed it live 😭
This song is vocal line only. They also have songs that are rap line only.
Lights, Zero O clock, Heartbeat are also very good vocal songs.
They always perform so well even when they are not feeling well 💜
Jin,jimin jungkook and V are the vocal line..RM SUGA and jhope are the RAP LINE each members has a positions in the team.
They're only 4 members ,( Jungkook, Jin, Jimin & V) representing the Vocal Lines. They all have different texture of voices that compliments and Blends well with each other voices. And this song really is emotional . It would be nice of you to make a cover, too.
this is the vocal line (v, jimin, jungkook and jin) song, so is house of cards that you already did
also this is the stage mix live, it's a compilation of many live but i believe they choose the sound from just one live
You're definitely very observant, catching the relation to Fake Love and the flower imagery. Both songs come from the same album.
BTS albums are released in (mostly) trilogies that explore specific motifs that align with their personal journey. And when you string them all together, they chart their development as artists and people:
🔹 School trilogy (2013) - Their dreams and concerns as school-age boys. There are both love songs and criticisms of the Korean school system. Key symbols: dreams (big house, big cars, big rings)
🔹 Youth Trilogy (2015) - Growing up and moving on as young adults. Also tackles inter-generational conflicts and the anxieties of youth _in this economy(!)_ Key symbols: fire, running, camera, sea
🔹 Wings (2016) - The pains and temptations as you come into adulthood. Key symbols: wings, blindfold, crossroads
🔹 Love Yourself (2017) - The journey to learning to love others by first loving yourself. Key symbols: flowers, masks, sand
🔹 Map of the Soul (2019) - Exploring oneself from the outwards in. Key symbols: stars, lights, shadows, time
It makes sense that it reminds you of Fake Love - it's the 3rd song on the album "Love Yourself: Tear" while Fake Love is the 2nd song :)
Yes! The flower “smerelda” is part of the BU rabbit hole. Bangtan Universe
Yes, do it! I can't wait for the cover!!
I cannot wait for you to cover this!!
4:40 theres definitely recurring imagery across bts projects flowers, wings/flight, the sea, the moon/stars.
My favorite silly one is bts not knowing where the party is, they've been asking for years and no ones told them
I'm waiting for your cover 💜
Their live performance of this song where they were all in those flowerly outfits is the best. Yes there were only 4 of them, the vocal line. I found this song very very sad. The flower was a big motive in that era I think. They used to have this Bangtan Universe which has its own lore. There is this impossible mythical flower in it. Smeraldo I think it was called. It became a very good symbol where a lot of complicated emotions were expressed. Aside from that though, flower is always a good metaphor for a lot of stories of emotions anyway. Thanks for your reaction as always.
Yes sing for us Nathan Walters.
Thank you for your reaction. Please also check " Let go " their live performance one of the great BTS song. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
@NathanWalters You had me at "Should I?"
Wish more people would understand the meanings behind BTS songs. They would love and feel what these young men are all about.
Kindness, truth and love 💜
'Born singer' is beautiful to hear. Your Fake Love cover is lovely.
You are literally not allowed to jimmout 😊😊😊😂😂
I love this song the most💜 I love Jin's lines and the way he sings here ...
The best best best song (vocal line) 👏🏻 amazing reaction
This is called vocal line, tht is y they're 4 of them. RM, Suga and Jhope is rapline.. the hve their own unit too. And this song and Epiphany by Jin, is definitely two songs i believe u will do cover. And just wnt to tell u, my bias is JIMIN 💜
Yess please cover this song.... I'm so excited... 🤗🤗
Yes, a cover of this would be lovely!
