Will.... That Lotus is gorgeous. I am so proud of you man. been a fan for years and you and your bro deserve all the spoils of war. Thank you for serving the community well, and im glad you also sent a shout out to Barry recently.
Branded wheels for me a certainly something i look for. It gives more a real world sense to it and not just a game controller. Also gives more character to the wheels as well. Instead of me switching to the gt wheel im switching to the "Mclaren wheel" may not be the same for all but i like them a lot and also think these branded ones tend to look much nicer. I just wish more companies made these at affordable price points like the fanatec mclaren wheel
I got mine today. I do have a power button and both shifters feel and sound exactly the same and no issues with them getting stuck. I have to say, I really like it, the only thing that is worse vs my F-Pro is the shifter travel and it not being adjustable. The shifter travel feels like 3x the travel I have on my F-Pro, I quite like a bit more resistance with less travel on the shifters. Guess I will get used to it as well. I have done two laps back to back and the size of the AMG wheel immediately felt fine, going back to the F-Pro, which I have exclusively used since release, felt weird as I tend to not like small wheels.
The shifters are like the gt pro. It probably needs a little lubrication to prevent it sticking. Check the gt pro user manual and it recommends using some lubricant yearly at the pivot points.
I think I need one of these specifically because it's a 320mm. I find that size more controllable and more comfortable. I love the GSI GT MAX 32 for example which is a D shape 320mm wheel.
@@aimpurge Based on the fanatec bmw gt4 wheel I agree with you. This however seems like the same price as it would be without the branding. I’m fine with paying up to like $100 more for something licensed. More than that is getting ridiculous
Thanks for the review Will! Personally I prefer the generic style GT3 wheels but what would really be cool are interchangeable magnetic rim plates. Kinda like what TURN Racing does but instead of stickers going on the magnetic plates there would be high quality manufacturer car emblems instead. So you can easily swap out car emblems depending on the car you are driving. Just my thoughts, but I'd buy that in a heart beat, even though I drive in VR exclusively too!
Nice Lotus Emira in the background. Would love to see some real world pov/track videos on the channel. Although I don't know how feasible that is. Great review as always.
I have been looking for a 32cm wheel in addition to my Cube Controls F-Pro at 28cm. Given I've had zero issues with my F-Pro other than Bluetooth dropping occasionally, which is a PC motherboard issue, not a wheel issue, I think I'll pick one up when Trak Racer AU gets stock.
@@boostedmediaoh, I think you can count on that! Gorgeous car, almost as pretty as a Porsche 😉. Actually I think it’s the best looking car on sale right now.
Hey Will, would you be willing to do a comparison video between the asetek forte wheelbase and the simucube 2 pro? They are very close in price in the USA
I love this branding and replica stuff a lot! It levels up my Simulator Immersion 🫶 Mine arrive 2morrow and I can’t even wait to race with it @ Laguna Seca this week 🥰👌👍
I personally dont mind if its teamed with a brand sure its weird but as long as its minimal on the brand logo like this amg one compared to McLaren ones its very minimal
Looks nice, sucks they don't offer it with quad paddles - as other people already mentioned. Or at least have made it where you could buy the extra paddles and attach them yourself. I like the branding personally, I have a few pairs of AMG driving shoes, but I'm planning to get the NLR Ford GT cockpit. So even if I wanted to go overboard with the immersion it would still end up being a fail for me lol. I like the Fanatec BMW M4 GT3 wheel even more, but it's almost twice the price. And even if I could afford that, I'd still be stuck with a Ford GT cockpit mixed with a BMW wheel. And of course, nobody makes a Ford GT wheel, that would make too much sense lol. So maybe I'll just buy a generic cockpit and a few different generic wheel types so I have the different genres covered.
Hi Will, nice review thanks, but still find it strange they send you a wheel to review without power connecter and sticky shifter. Agree not too bad price wise but feel few corners cut, I would like extra paddles. Also don’t like it when you have to remove hand from wheel to press some buttons, that’s why I stopped using my cube control wheel and got the grid mpx so good to use, but way more expensive, thanks Will.
Oh I'm going to buy it to replace my GT4 wheel I use for Merc GT3/4 cars... It's the same diameter as the real wheels in the GT3/4 and the new Track Car
Bought this wheel in the early order window, awaiting delivery- hopefully this week! On the branding- I would usually agree, it would feel weird to drive a BMW with a Merc wheel. However, I race in VR! So, for me the look of the wheel makes no difference while I'm racing, just the feel 😊
This 290-320mm discussion and subjective opinions is driving me nuts. I'm bout to drop 4k on an upgrade for the rig etc and this is really bothering me. I really like this wheel and im a mercedes fan boy..
Yeah I bought it for the same reason. I have the means and I like to have the wheels actually used or a close as I can get for each car I drive. Just got the wheel today and 320 does seem a little big for me it's not THAT much different than a 300mm wheel. It's beautiful wheel and feels really good in the hands. I'm 6'0 with wide shoulders and clavicles and so the size isnt really an issue. If you have a small frame it might seem to wide grip to grip
Not really convinced about this wheel. I would actually like the larger diameter though. Also liking the trend with the adjustable leds on the wheel. The Grid MPX I like the most up until now, but the pricing is too high for me. Hope more brands come out with these sort of wheels. Around 300mm diameter, clean design, decent grips and paddles, fully loaded with leds.
The fanatic is actually going to create a CSL DD 13NM. What the heck!!! If Fanatec continues to stagnate in the same place selling things 10 times more expensive without creating anything new. I will switch to Chinese products. They have super QR they have a selection of NM they have a huge selection of F1 and GT3 steering wheels. What did Fanatec do? She just created CSL DD 3 years ago which is not being developed at all. What is the problem with creating 3 types of DD bases 8nm-13nm-25nm
@@younghumphrey06There is, but this terrible DD1 model that Fanatec is making every attempt to get rid of. A huge number of defects, they fail. They always lose contact with the helms. And this is a fact!!! Also, DD1 can fail without any reason. It is because of this that the DD2 model was created in which these problems were corrected. Likewise, if we compare NM Simcub and Simagic, MOZA and Fanatec DD1 or DD2. Fanatec will lose because Fanatec never reaches its peak stated power. Yes, 25nm is FAKE; at best it reaches 17nm.
Branding is pointless, in sim racing you can drive so many other cars from different manufacturers in different series it doesn't make sense to limit yourself to just one because you have their wheel. Generic would be better. Additionally, how much input do these brands actually have on the wheel other than allowing wheel makers to use the exact shape and the logo? The shape is almost identical to all their other formula wheels, it's not like the BMW wheel or the porsche replica wheel where it has a unique shape that stands out and makes it instantly recognisable. Without the Merc logo you'd assume this is another generic formula style wheel. Add to this the reduced functionality compared to the F-core wheel and you are paying a massive premium for basically a logo you could buy online and stick on your wheel for 1/10th of the price of this wheel.
Such a pleasant surprise to see thia reviewed! I am really interested but this 290mm-320mm discussions are driving me insane. Im worried for GT racing... *edit, that downshift stick is unacceptable wtf?!?

Are magnetic paddle shifters better for a sim racing wheel?
Subjectively they feel better, they're more responsive, and less prone to missing shifts.
Can you remove the Merc logo or not? Is it glued in or pinned in?
