John, Thanks for showing us how catch a boat load of fish. I hope you fulfill your New Year's resolution, catching a monster yellowfin tuna on a surface plug, etc. Happy New Year.
Great job! Nothing more exciting than catching large yellowfin tuna on a top water popper and seeing them fly out of the water when they smash the popper. Me and my Son have caught quite a few on coffee grinders . Namely shimano rods paired with Stella reels to 60lb braid and 4 - 5’ top shot of 50 lb fluoro, depending on the size of the fish.
Used to bring long extension handle nets for the flying fish. Was always an automatic yellowfin. Back when Thunderhorse was the biggest rig in the Gulf. Doesn’t get any better.
What a great trip i don’t care what anyone says for a great offshore fishing trip starts with an awesome deckhand and an amazing captain because at the end of the day you will talk about who was your captain.
I used to longline the tuna and captain on a supply boat out here on these deep platform now. I always wonder why none of the sport boats don't send baits down deep when the tuna won't come up? Super cool video btw.
I worked on a drill ship in the gulf,I can tell you,no better bait for tuna than flying fish, even when taken out of the gut, partially digested, they will attack them.
A barracuda got me on the back of my calf, and I was using pliers but when I pulled the jig out of its mouth it started flopping around and nipped me . Luckily nothing too serious.
What reel is that you were jigging with??? ( if you said it I must have missed it ) Great video. Hopefully the weather gods are good the last couple weeks this month so I can get out and chase some on the lumps. Great video !!!! First time I’ve seen your channel, new subscriber here. Looking forward to more.
Hey guys, congratulations on catching a bunch of fish. Here in the Northwest, EVERY FISH before it goes in the ice box gets "Bonked" and its gills cut "bled" The quality of the fillets are better. Just a suggestion.
Those big blackfin looking fish are big eye tuna, yellowfin have the big yellow fins, good fishing guys! Cheers!

That catch and cook restaurant is awesome! 14 bucks, and all you need to do is bring in your own fish, all the other extras are included. Amazing.
Totally awesome👍🏻🎣

We bled every tuna on this trip, just not in the video.
What reel you was using for jigging ???
Good job and good video. I just wish you were better at catching fish😂
At hook up you’ll wish you were using at least a 50
Razor sharp
Drilling rig
DUDE REALY!!!..DO YOU HAVE A PLIERS????...😮..A HOOK 🪝 IN YOUR FINGER OR THE LOSS OF A FINGER....THAT WAS SOME DUMB SHIT 😅😢...
Oil rig has no meaning.
All that blood being washed off the deck and no sharks how is that....?????
