My uncle was sentenced to prison for 18 years. He got an early perole but i'll tell you the short version. Him and his wife lived in dallas at the time, and his wife was raped by 3 men. Well my uncle being the 6 foot 4 veteran he was, decided he wasnt going to let these guys get away with just prison time. He killed all 3 of them, broke into their houses and shot them while they slept. (ive seen the case file and pictures and it wasnt pretty). Well after they were all dead he turned himself in, and explained himself, and got his lawyer and everything. He got out 10 years early. Probably due to the fact that the 3 guys he killed were rapist scumbags who brutalized his wife. Those fuckers deserved what they got. And honestly i dont think and less of him for what he did to them. His wife still struggles a little with psych stuff but shes being doing better and they have kids now (my cousins.) He was never an actual criminal, he never went back to prison. He never did anything else even remotely close to the one crime. He has talked about how in prison when he would tell other inmates why he was there generally they would leave him alone. Probably some sort of respect there because this is a man, a veteran, who got revenge for his wife. And he told a specific story where one of the guards was jackin with him and then the guard found out his story and actually apologised. A pretty much nonexistent occurance. Life is crazy man
Davis thanks for telling that story. I completely understand what you're saying and how you understand your uncles motivations, I'd assume that most people would. It just got me thinking about whether that was what his wife wanted or needed... while I would imagine revenge might have been on her mind as well, maybe she would have had an easier time coping with the person she loved on her side. The way it played out, she not only experienced that horrible situation, but lost a person who was an important part of her life and safety net as well. Sorry for replying on a dead thread, I just needed to share my thoughts
Don’t know that I 100% believe this ( not that what I think really fuckin matters ) what’s got me hesitating is the fact that he killed three men supposedly while they slept, ok I could see the first one, maybe the second one you but you mean to tell me the third one was that easy to hunt down? He and the cops would be aware of what was going on and who the likely suspect was.
I'm astonished that this man's spirit wasn't crushed by the deprivation he experienced. Instead, he's become a generous and masterful storyteller. Good on you Larry, I wish you the best. :)

I came upon your channel watching the video about prison pasta and became fascinated with your story. Thank you for sharing. I've never been to prison but definitely relate to your experience about being overwhelmed by the sudden freedom to decide. I was abused by a very dominating mother who attempted to control EVERYTHING about my existent, how I could feel, think, or act. Her cruelty solidified her control. Shortly after moving out, which was drama, I was at lunch w a therapist. In line at a deli, I found myself unable to decide which sandwich I wanted. It was a strange and embarrassing experience. Panicked, I kept apologizing. Back then, I thought my mother cursed me to be unable to make decisions! She said, I'd never make it w/o her. I feared it was true, but decades later, I'm still here. I appreciate you (and your cousin) sharing in plane speak the effects of being in a controlling environment that uses abuse as reinforcement to deprive people from making decisions. I want you to know that your reach, your insight, is helpful to anyone fortunate enough to view your channel. Again, thanks for sharing your story.❤️
I can't tell you how emotional I felt during the Subway ordering part. It's so sad how being institutionalized can prohibit your normal human functions/interactions. Your an inspiration sir, very brave dude to be open and honest about your experiences.
The way you felt sensory overload... my son is autistic, he feels like that, often. I know and understand exactly how you felt. I'm so glad you got through it safely. If nobody has told you today, I'm so proud of you, Mr. Larry.
Everyone is cracking jokes about him saying, "I'll never forget", that's good and all, but his story telling is amazing. He is immersive, descriptive and doesn't waste time on stupid details. Thank you Larry for sharing your story. A strong person is able to openly talk about their strengths and weaknesses. You are a role model and an example of what can happen if you are committed to changing. One question. How did you feel when you were "on top of your crime game". When you were driving expensive cars, diamonds on your knuckles, etc.? Was it a feeling of power or fear?
He goes Into detail in one video about how he never had expensive cars and diamonds and big houses. It made you look hot and you would get popped by the cops almost certainly.
This one really hit me hard. My first day out after 5 years I went out to eat with my family and I was so uncomfortable in the restaurant that I didn't order food and I couldn't talk to anyone it was all too much and that night when I tried to sleep all I could think about is how much I missed my bunk and my cell where everything I knew, was.
This reminds of Basic Training... When I got out of that 15 weeks of trash food and being pushed to max everyday, All I wanted was awesome food. Sex is nothing compared to a full stomach of good food. Boiled Chicken with no seasonings is gross, but it was survival at that point. LOL Totally knew where you were goin with that one. Hope youre doing well!
Yep I remember eating real food for the first time as well. I had a steak and it was amazing. And I remember sleeping in a comfortable bed after that to
When you said to ask anyone that's been in prison what they missed most, I instantly thought food. I've never been to prison, but have served 4.5 years onboard a US submarine. After 90 days of being in an enclosed environment under water, the food gets pretty bad. There were times I just wished for a decent burger, not a good one, but decent. When we loaded food onto the sub, we lined up in a line stretching from the pier to the food storage on the boat and handed the boxes to one another. On the side of some of the boxes was a stamp that read "NOT FIT FOR PRISONER CONSUMPTION."
@@kyleduff2134 We could never figure that out. The two running theories were either the food was too good for prisoners or the food was not good enough for prisoners. The sense of humor onboard favored the latter.
@@devindalton4688 lol...The water onboard is pure and relatively plentiful. The systems onboard essentially take sea water and "filter" it to basically pure water. The two reasons we conserve water are due to the rate at which we can produce water, and to minimize the amount of waste water.

This is a truly outstanding site. So informative. Larry has a gift in being able to communicate these experiences in a highly articulate and cogent manner. It hit home with me, as as one time while in my teens I was in a downward spiral, heading for a life of crime. Then, an uncle of mine, who had just been released from Folsom Prison after having done four (4) years for tax evasion, as well as assault, spoke with me at length about what he had experienced in prison, and to be sure, whatever you did, the authorities would always catch up with you…..always! I eventually got straightened out, discharged honorably from the US Air Force in 1968, received BA and MA degrees from Fresno State, and subsequently retired as commercial pilot on September 18, 2001. Then, for the next 20 years worked as an Air Safety Investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Thanks for that talk Uncle Al. What a life altering event that was!!
Its crazy how when you came out of prison I was only a few months old, I'm 15 in 2 weeks. I've done barely anything my whole life and it really motivates me when I see how much you've done in the time ive been alive. Keep making great content Larry.

I NEVER comment, but I feel I have to. As a young man (21 next month) who has done 2 years in jail for firearms charges, I wanted to say thank you for giving me a voice to relate to. Your story has honestly motivated me to staying out, finishing probation (Next month!) and staying employed. The story of you being soo institutionalized at that subway line that you couldnt even order, really hit me hard. I hope you continue to make these videos brother, it gives people hope of rehabilitation. Even if a few people get the message, its literally saving lives. And I'll leave with this. The scary part is time, family, and others lives will go on while you're in jail. No matter the money you made, you cant buy that back.
This is by far My wife and I's favorite you tube channel, I have had my own run ins with the law. It took me years but i got my shit together but i am no longer in the system no probation, no parole just free and clear. I wish that while I was going through this crap I had the advice that Larry offers in his videos. I hope that if there are people going through the justice system and want to make changes in there own life find this channel and listens to what this man has to say. I have a ton of respect for Larry.
The wanting to be free is exactly how the military was once I got out, so happy to leave, done with the BS. Then wanting to go back and missing everything about it. Plus once you finish basic and tech school and enter the real world it’s almost the same feeling. Also coming home from deployment is almost like getting out of jail. The day we got back I went into a gas station. (Normally while deployed everything on base except the exchange store, is free) so I walked in I grabbed a MNT Dew and a water and started walking out. And the clerk stopped me asking what I was doing. Just drinks in hand walking right out of the door. Became good friends with the guy after that after explaining how my mind hasn’t gone back to civilian mode yet.
Same with me brother. I was in an army foundation college earlier this year where young recruits go to before basic training. Pretty much boot camp for under 18’s before they go from Junior Soldiers to Privates. And I’ll tell you something, the day I got out for the first time it was seriously magical. I remember going to a McDonald’s on my way home, and like Larry said, you freeze due to all the choices you’re getting, baring in mind I’d been eating in a mess hall for ages before that moment. As Larry always says, I’ll never forget that.
That's a really touching episode. There's so many things we take for granted out of prison. I've never been there, but I can tell this system doesn't help anybody be better.
I never thought about that.. you would have no way of knowing what cars are like when your on the inside, so it must have been a shock to go from late 90s cars straight to mid 00s cars.
I was locked up from ‘98 until ‘16. The first time I was in a car when I got released, bright sunny day, I had to ask my sister why everybody was driving with their lights on. LOL
Larry, you're probably not reading this, but i want you to know that I'm a young Russian guy who is improving his English skills by watching your videos. Man, you really are a GREAT storyteller. I feel like you are almost a part of my family now... And I know it sounds crazy but that's just the way I feel right now. You've helped me to almost completely get rid of my accent, which I think sounds real bad, you've helped me to learn new words, terms and I'm not talking about the prison slang... These videos are actually an emotional rollercoaster for me, I can't imagine how you felt living that life. I just want to say thank you for the great content. There is nobody like you on UA-cam. Keep it up. Again you probably won't even see this comment, but I just wanted to write something positive, to "talk" to you and say that I'm honoured to hear these stories from you.

Your exposing of your vulnerability is what makes you real, bro. I’m sure that you’re helping a lot of people, thank you for keeping it real!
His wife still struggles a little with psych stuff but shes being doing better and they have kids now (my cousins.)
He was never an actual criminal, he never went back to prison.
Life is crazy man
Your uncle did the right thing 👍👍👍
Davis thanks for telling that story. I completely understand what you're saying and how you understand your uncles motivations, I'd assume that most people would. It just got me thinking about whether that was what his wife wanted or needed... while I would imagine revenge might have been on her mind as well, maybe she would have had an easier time coping with the person she loved on her side. The way it played out, she not only experienced that horrible situation, but lost a person who was an important part of her life and safety net as well.
Sorry for replying on a dead thread, I just needed to share my thoughts
Good for your uncle! He may have saved a lot of other women.

What does that stamp mean? Why wouldn’t it be fit for prisoner consumption?
@@kyleduff2134 We could never figure that out. The two running theories were either the food was too good for prisoners or the food was not good enough for prisoners. The sense of humor onboard favored the latter.
The two reasons I never want to serve on a submarine: water and food. Can't imagine how you felt, lol.

I could sit and listen to you for hours. Truly a natural story teller.
