I'm 3 months into owning my first 1988 300zx and I love it! Jumping into the restomod addiction! Your videos are awesome! Please keep them coming! Your Z31 rocks a true inspiration!
That black out makes a huuuuuuuuge difference. Great job
From what I've seen on UA-cam the SEM paints lay down the smoothest out of all brand spray paints for Autos.
I really like the work along with your care, time and effort you put into your whip
It looks great
Thanks for the vid n imma try and find that same or similar black paint trim. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
That ride is clean man 👌🏼
Beautiful work, mad props
Just saw your excellently done video, and have decided to redo the trim on my 1981 Porsche 928..Came anodized from the factory, but 40 years later it's starting to "edge". Already ordered the SEM Trim Black.
Looks badass man! Great job!
Wow, excellent job man, patience is everything. Artistic prep skills. I've used vinyl in past. Doesn't hold up more than 6 mos before peeling and bubbling sometimes, I'm no expert. Think I'll have my buddy who's in auto body do this. Hopefully gives me a deal. Worth it. Like vinyl, but again, doesn't last.
I applaud your prep patience
Sweet Z, im going to do this to my 90 300zx, Thank you.
Nice work, looks good.
Great prep work
Good work. Thanks for sharing.
its very nice look
and perfect work 👍👍
Wow came out great I'm going to be applying it on my dodge magnum window trims
thank you! going to be attempting this on my 1988 E30 Vert.
Hell yeah 😎. Looking good 👍.
Looks awesome
Beautiful car man!
Dude beautiful car as it is!
That’s the best trim paint
Beautiful job, I have to do mine over, the painter did them about 6years ago and I don't think he used an etching primer as they are scratching easily, thanks for the info
This is the ONLY car I have seen that I liked the chrome better! Great job nevertheless
Just finished mine , turned out great , thanks for the video , have you deconed the car since , just wondering how it will react to iron decon or wax/sealant?
Man you deserve just as many subscribers as chrisfix
No. He doesn't respond to subscribers in the comment section
Hell naw you trippen. Chrisfix actually talks instruction through instruction. This guy didn’t even say anything as far as what sand paper to use or even paint because he used multiple. This video is pretty pointless and doesn’t show you shit besides him painting his chrome black. This video was useless if you want to learn how to do it.
@@alexsanmiguel4308 I agree, I want to do this but don't know any of the products he used?
Looks really great! Details like this really makes the Z look more gorgeous. Is your car paint metallic gray?
Looks amazing! What primer did you use?
Nice! Helpful tip: use a 1” or thinner tape around corners because it can stretch smoother than a 2”. Then you can stick your 2” around that wider radius.
no
Looks good nice car dude. What were u whiping the trim with, sandpaper?
Great video. How's it holding up? Any fading after 3 years?
That's a clean Z
What’s your wheel setup if you don’t mind me asking, looks awesome
Nice nice!
awesome
What products did you used, besides sem paint itself? I mean, any primers, clear coats?
Have you heard of the stuff called chrome molly ?? I used it once on some chrome rims it just makes the chrome black and they looked ok
Great job, has it held on?
If the trim surface is plastic do I need to use etching primer?
I am painting my front grill piece and I will be sanding the area first.
I did the reverse to _keep_ my chrome when I repainted
Hey, I have been thinking about painting the trim on my '85 Z31 also. Has the trim paint cracked or peeled since you painted it? Just wondering.
Thanks
instablaster.
Good job...
Clean
What was spray paint called and where did you buy it? How many cans did you use?
fun thing about my 89 z31, it doesnt have chrome trim, but if you chip off the black trim, theres chrome under it
How has the trim paint held up over time? You did an amazing job on it. Looks fantastic. Thank you for the video.
probably started pealing 3 weeks later
Lasts just as long as original if you prep right , you paint layer is only as good as your prep , I work in a bodyshop and we use SEM for refinishing trim it’s pretty industry standard and it is the best you can use for trim.
@@trevorstrayer7670 Use a red scotchbrite scuff pad on the surface you’re painting then wipe down with 99% rubbing alcohol or wax and grease remover then spray it. paint sticks inside of the micro scratches , if shit is peeling it wasn’t sanded or scuffed depending on what you’re spraying on & that’s for painting Anything not just cars.
@zhongxena1155 it will not stay long on Crome no matter how you prep it
@@swartzkoft7886that's what I keep reading. I'm hearing if you use a etch primer it might have a shot
3 weeks is crazy
Looks great. Could you use this to repaint faded black plastic trim?
sbrave yes you can.
This turned out great, you'd think it's new trim. However, the chrome looked cool af
What shade of tint is that man??? Thats exactly what I want!!
what is the difference between SEM trim black and satin black paint?
Going to do it with my plane 84 buick regal
how has the spray can held up over the years so far ?
Is that just a regular sand paper, or it's a particular number of sand paper?
Killer Tip: Use plastic Fineline tape. It can be curved around corners, zero bleed and both solvent and abrasion resistant! Oh and zero residue !
Not gonna lie ...enjoyed the music a lot ...great video brotha
what sandpaper grit u use to scuf up chrome???
How is it holding up so far?
Is it still holding up well ??
Looks awesome❤️ what primer did you use?
No you look awesome
what grit sand paper was that being used??
Sorry if this is dumb but is this weather and car wash proof?🤦♀️
How is this product holding up 4 years later?
What paint color is the body of your z?
What's the actual primer that you used? I see that you said Duplicolor, but is it the self etching one? Also, how has it held up?
You etch metals, not the fake chrome they put on plastic. Just get an adhesion promoter and sand it.
what sand paper do you use
how long u wait between coats???
I wish u did I correctly light coats then one thick coat
what primer did you use
Hi. Looks great. How's the paint holding up? I see somebody else asked and you haven't responded. I know it's easy enough to repaint it, but it would be good to know.
The Paint has held up pretty good so far hope to do a walk around/ update in the spring.
@@TurbochargedCreations did you ever do an update video?
Looks smooth as f*ck! Great job! If the chrome is in good shape can you just scuff and paint or is the primer absolutely necessary? Dropped a 👍 and subscribed.
Use a non gloss clear coat
what primer
looks better black chrome is disgusting 👌🏻 there’s not much chrome on my car but I do want to paint it black
Thank you for asking me this thought I have a car that is more than 1987 and I was thinking that I did my car in turbo and dye the chromate to the colors of lions
What grit sandpaper did you use? Nice work!
He didn't use sandpaper, he said he used Scotch Brite. It's basically an abrasive sponge-like pad.
@@derekjansz2950 Got it. I'll look for it at Home Depot. Thanks!
@@derekjansz2950 which color scotch brite?
I see you primer’d the trim but couldn’t tell if you were scuffing it with a pad or cleaning it while prepping it
Ha… nvm had the volume to low just rewatched your vid 👍🏽
What’s the paint used
Hows the pint holding up you dont have to sand the trim?
Not a single issue since this video has been posted
Thanks will en up doing this!
What kind of car is that
I prefer the chrome trim but still looks great
PS did you do primer first and if so what kind?
LOOKS GREAT
ok hear that you used primer, just what kind?
@@KCnLex he used dupli-color primer
what kind of prep work did you do? Or did you just spray?
why no clear coat?
Product doesnt call for any, plus matte finish
What sand paper do i need to use? I want to do this on my e30
Just use a scotch pad, not sandpaper.. Just need to scuff it up a bit.
@@TheSuperdodgy but it wont chip over time? primer, paint and clear coat, or i can save up and wrap them or plasti dip
@@robi6713 Short answer .. yes eventually. But if you prep it well, ensure you give nice even coats, 3-4 of each (etch, base and clear) it will last years. I did mine, I sold the car after 4 years and it still hadnt chipped or faded. However, it was garaged it's whole life. Like anything, you made need to do it again but the joys of maintain a car right?
Damn I feel your pain. You got a hell of a lot of chrome on that car. I hate chrome. You definitely want to use a respirator with SEM as they have nasty carcinogens in them and can cause birth defects if you want a family. Good job!
Wish you lived next door.
Does it chip off
Nope
Hey man. Why did u primer? I thought trim black says u do not need primer.
Did it for extra piece of mind, tapping everything is alot of work and id hate to have to do it again
what tape is that?
green tape
@@AllAmericanGuy01 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol it said SEX!(sun roof or what ever was on the grass)
Nice job! Guess what though!?! I bet if you wiped that blue SUV parked next to your car with a towel you'd find it was coated with your black overspray!!! How do I know that? Because I accidentally did it to my neighbors brand new car many years ago. I didn't realize it till months after he complained about driving through something that coated car. OOPS!!! I was painting in only a fraction of the wind you had in your video. SO...be careful doing this in any wind. Paint does not dry instantly and will stick to whatever it lands on. You could even get over spray on your house!!!
wish you would have skipped a bunch of the cover up of car and slowed down the actual spray painting (and commentary on that part would have helped too.)
You never told us what kind of primer you used? and you never told us if you used an adhesion accelerator before the paint WTF man ??
He answered the primer question 2 years ago.................Dupli color !!!!!!!!!!!!!...WTF man.....
Thought this was a tutorial … bummer
Dont any of these kids today listen to heavy metal or hard rock? Or is all fairy dance crap
Its free music that he can use without getting it flagged. Dont any old people know about royalties or are yall all ignorant shits?
Shocking some people shouldn’t own nice cars. Unbelievable...
Damn, debating if I should make my NA look like a turbo lmao
Im thinking I should make my entire car chrome! :) JK, but yeah, the black does look sick, regardless of whats under the hood.
