- Hot damn this chip is fun to work with. Will definitely be doing more with it in the future.
Thanks to Eulous for developing E-FamiTracker, the tool used to make this. Seriously, you're doing a fantastic job!
god this slaps
i love the fact this chip has found a renewed love, instead of dying on the "amazing but forgotten" pile!
that snare 👌
Thanks! I’m super proud of it
That snare is (for lack of a better word) _moist_
AY8930 has some interesting noise control that allows for precise control over the harmonic content of the noise
Great song! That snare is especially good, to the point that it sounds like a sample
I think I tried the AY8930 out a while ago, but I often struggle to use chips with low channel counts.
I'm sad I haven't heard of this chip until now. Sounds great!
been listening to this since the day it got released 🔥
relistening to some of my favorite chiptunes, and holy fuck this track inspired me so fucking much when I was still making chiptunes. Like, I would watch it 3 days a day just to pick up on some of the techniques used and I'd try to apply them in my own AY songs... lmao
Great song! What an a interesting sound chip!
Thank you! It’s one of my new favorites. Basically an AY with variable duty cycles, an awesome noise generator, and some weird distortion that involves logic gates - it can produce smooth PWM or atonal craziness
Let's Go Home Time
This is up there with the best ay songs, and amazing snare!
Imagine if the Master System or Game Gear had this instead of that shrill TI 8910 clone
Nice Ay8930 E-Famitracker tune!😄🤩😎👌
I don't know much about synth chips but I like to listen to it
Nice
Yet Another Slapper!
this ones goin into the playlist
Wonderful!
Awesome zak! Where can I get this chip? I tried and got only some fake ones :(
They’ve been out of production for quite some time. Your only luck is to look for Covox Sound Master cards on eBay
She's a beaut she is
Banger
Thanks!
How do you get smooth pwm on 8930
I just now figured out that the AY-3-8910 is basically the grandfather of the YM2612.
Seeing as how the YM2419 is its step-grandpa LOL
I think you've got the yamaha chips mixed up
The YM2419 was integrated into the YM2203, aka the OPN. The YM2612 is an iteration of the OPN (hence the name OPN2), however it removed the YM2419 integration. The previous chips (YM2608/OPNA, YM2610/OPNB) had them too.
@@jtg55 Well yes, but it's just an addition, not the main point of the chip. The YM2612 is entirely FM synth based so it's not like the AY or the YM2419 at all, if anything the YM2419 and OPN are distant cousins
@@cfothough OK.
