- Rivian kept this new R3X Variant a complete secret. There's no official pricing yet, or even a release date. Rivian says 'sometime after the R2 launch' which is in 2026. So my personal guess is that we will see this R3X some time in 2027 or 2028. Either way - This thing is awesome.
$45k is "super inexpensive". man I can't even afford super inexpensive.
Thats what I was thinking that's still expensive but he could mean compared to other Rivian vehicles

Relative to the rest of the new car market it is inexpensive/reasonable. Average brand new car costs a few thousand more. All those ego trucks on the roads with sparkling clean paint and no tools in the back, double the price.
It’s below average for a new car nowadays.

Well, to be fair, 45,000 is not "super inexpensive" for a very large portion of America. No shade towards Zack. I am hugely impressed with everything he's done, and I know he must work his ass off. 45,000 is not even feasible for a big part of our country, though. Just sayin

@@brianadamsjr2664you are 100% correct. Regardless of what people may portray, according to the 2022 census data 58.52% of the country make $50K or less a year. If you are spending 90% of your annual income on a vehicle you are likely going to have financial issues.
Something I'd love to see someone like Rivian do, is introduce wear pads to consoles, doors, and come up with some sort of system for replacement. Take my wife's Honda Pilot for example, the door pad requires you take the entire door apart, a multi hour job to replace a faux leather pad. Would make for customization options to sell/encourage aftermarket, etc.

45,283 is average car price, fyi. So 'super inexpensive' may be hyperbole but it's really relative to R1T/R1S, where it's half the price.

@@xipalips fair enough. In my research of vehicles when I was looking for an EV personally the model Y wasn’t on my radar because I’m not into hatchbacks.
Plus EVs are obviously only intended for people that make at minimum $75K even if you're buying a Chevy Bolt
$7500 tax credit makes that r2 base price 37500, which is below the average new car price. It’s not expensive.

It doesn't matter that it is lower than the average new car price when half the population can't really afford an average new car.

Respectfully, describing a product as “inexpensive” implies market relativity.
$45,000 for an EV from a market leader… when considering the materials used, the fitment, the performance and features, availability, after-purchase support, community, innovation, and (so far) reliability….
…is, without a DOUBT… Super inexpensive.
If sticker price is literally the ONLY metric or method that you employ to quantify the value/quality of life increase/JOY/FUN/etc. that a purchase creates in your life, well… consider reevaluating your approach to consumerism.

For anyone wondering 45k is actually average for new cars
any woman wearing short shorts or a short dress while driving that thing are going to have very noticeable imprints on their legs 😂
anyone in Texas, Arizona, Florida and basically everywhere in the south will have third degree burns on them if those openings on the seats of the R3X are metal. You may survive in jeans or other thick materials but if you are wearing a t-shirt or other thinner material that will do nothing to the metal rings that are going to be 200+ degrees in the sun. I used to have a manual transmission vehicle with a titanium shift knob and even with a front window cover and putting a towel over it when it was parked I still had to use the towel for 20-30 minutes to shift in the summer.

I wouldn't put a 3 inch lift kit in it by any means, it's already too tall, I'd want a proper set of coilovers and lower that thing an inch or two.
