    In this video I show you my brother in law and his team building turing my vision into a reality by building my deck exactly how I saw it in my head and giving me everything I wanted, including a bench around the pool with a over top of the coping that also has a removable top, to pull back in order to install / remove the winter cover and be able to change the liner. Which turned into a bit of a disagreement, but we figured it out and he made it all happen!
    The whole project took a long time, a lot of days, and a lot of money, but it turned out amazing and was a great experience working alongside of him on other projects and giving a few hands along the way. Thanks Zack! I appreciate you working with me on this project and helping us turn this into a reality!
    It took me over over 3 months with around 250 hours of editing 20+ hours of time lapse videos to create the 3 videos for this pool / deck project series. Hope you all enjoy!

    Geez . Well done. Great job. I'll be attempting this job within the next month! Definitely saving this video. Thanks

      You’re welcome and thank you, that’s great to hear!!! The video goes quick, but it was a lot of work. It was a pretty long process since it was mostly done nights and weekends, but hopefully it helps having the video to reference. Good luck with it!

    Been building these pools for decades. Just one tip building over the pool ledge with that deck design is going to get in the way of a liner change for that overlap design. Consider a ease of deck disassembly in the design or go with a bead receiver type liner. Other than great deck creation.

    • @BrandonStunts
      @BrandonStunts  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you, but believe it or not the ease of disassembly was considered, but it seemed like way too much of a hassle to have to ever take it apart. So we decided to build the top piece completely independently. If you look close at 6:08 in the video you can see us pulling it out and pushing it back in to test it

      That top platform isn’t even actually screwed in. The outer top vertical deck boards below the flooring has a slight overhang that covers the coping on the pool side and slightly covers the decks to 2x4 on the other side (that way), it can’t move back-and-forth on its own), but 2 strong men or 3 to 4 people can easily lift it up an inch or two over the coping and it slides back as far as we would need it for any liner changes / repairs.

    Deck, steps and railing all looked beautiful! Couple of questions on Trex,
    1. I see that deck is under full Sun at least part of the day,didn't the Trex got too hot to walk on, especially bare foot out of the pool?
    2. What about being too slippery on the Trex surface?
    3. And was your support for the framing meet Trex's requirements for their VERY heavy boards?

    • @BrandonStunts
      @BrandonStunts  18 днів тому +1

      Thank you. I'll do my best to answer your questions...
      1. It's surprisingly not too bad, even in full sunlight. Maybe it's the color, I'm not sure. It obviously gets a little hot, but I really think my old stained pressure-treated wood deck at my last home we were at for 10 years.
      2. It is a bit slippery, and can feel a little slick when wet. Unfortunately we were opening the pool yesterday and my daughter was running and slept at the end after I just hosed it down. That's been the only issue though we've had in the past two years since it's been built. And I definitely think it's way better than people getting splinters. The kids like to run across it and slide on their socks when it's dry. I think it's better than wood in a lot of ways, and would personally never want to go back to a pressure-treated deck again
      3. The support, for the framing, met all of the code requirements and more. We even have it framed out to support the weight of a hot tub in front of the single window next to the door. There is definitely not been any weight issues at all, but there has been some areas at the end of each length of tracks that is starting to curl up. Hoping I can add additional screws to hold it down, but that's been the only negative so far.

    Wow, the way you framed that bench around the pool, it's SUPER solid! Did you do this deck and video recently? Just the bench framing must have cost a fortune in lumber! But it's good!

    • @BrandonStunts
      @BrandonStunts  Рік тому +2

      Thank you! It is very solid and built for the top was built to be removable so I can slide it off the coping / top metal rails for a liner replacement, and maintenance.

    • @BrandonStunts
      @BrandonStunts  Рік тому +2

      It was pretty pricey though. Built in early spring of 2021. The original quote for all materials was around 16,000, but ended up being closer to 18 by the time everything was all said and done

  • @kenj1862
    @kenj1862 Рік тому +3

    Nice job! I just thought what if you ever have to replace the liner and get those rails off?

    • @BrandonStunts
      @BrandonStunts  Рік тому +1

      Thanks, and that’s a good thought. I had the same thought it had to argue with my brother-in-law, and he almost walked from the job because of it. But at the end of the day we came to an agreement, and the top of that bench was made completely separate. That way it would be fully removable and be able to easily slide out with 2 to 3 people pulling on it.

    • @BrandonStunts
      @BrandonStunts  Рік тому +1

      If you watch at 6:08 you can see us pull it out to make sure it is easily slides in and out in case there’s ever a need to access it

    Love the deck and the bench. But how do people get out of the pool? Where does the ladder go??

    • @BrandonStunts
      @BrandonStunts  Рік тому

      Thank you and good question. There’s actually stairs in the pool. It comes with the rail, but I thought it looked better with it removed.

    • @BrandonStunts
      @BrandonStunts  Рік тому +2

      @@BrandonStunts Oh I see, I have a round pool and am going to try it with a ladder next to the bench. It's only 18 ft round and those stair would take up too much pool space.

    Are you happy with Trex decking so far? Which grade of trex did you go with?

    • @BrandonStunts
      @BrandonStunts  Рік тому +1

      Yes I am actually. So far it’s still like new and holding up great. I went with the cheaper trex “enhance”, which is scalloped on the bottom to save on material.

    Need the pool to soak your burning feet from that decking. Looks nice, but hardly a usable deck on a hot sunny day.

      @BrandonStunts  10 місяців тому +1

      Haha, I’m sure the pool helps with that. It’s surprising cool though, at least compared to my old trex deck which was much older, darker, and pretty worn. And least it’s defiantly way cooler than my old asphalt drive way

      @@BrandonStunts ...I was interested in the joining of the timbers on the corners and if the timbers were going under the top part of the pool etc, so I put the entire video, after the frame was up, on the slowest setting...even that was fast.
      As I am buying a pool, like this one, or similar, I needed to see if it was possible to do what I aspired to do. It was great thank you. And as for "Sit around Sam," I thought it was a teenager kid at first, until I saw his beard!
