After finishing my Country Fun Facts videos early this year, I still had so many fun facts left over, since I could only pick 1 fact per country. These are 75 more fun facts that I wanted to share, and hopefully make another interesting video to end the Country Facts 'mini-series'. If you want a more in-depth look at this video, as well as some "behind the scenes" type discussion, I put together a companion video over on Nebula. It's really not the type of video that would work well on UA-cam, and I'd worry about it hurting my channel ranking within the UA-cam algorithm. It's a laid-back video, with minimal editing, I decided to call it a "director's commentary". It's the kind of experimental content that Nebula is perfect for. Would love to hear some feedback, and maybe it's something I can do again in the future. The best way to get access to Nebula is definitely through our bundle deal with CuriosityStream, on-sale for just $14.79 for a whole year, which works out to just $1.23 per month. Fun fact about Sweden: In 1979, our government was pressured to no longer classify homosexuality as a disease, after an organized protest two months prior, where workers would call in sick for "feeling too gay to work"
Since, this mentioned about Manila is the most densely populated city in the world, here is an another fun fact in connection to that. It is totally believed that the density of Manila grow three times during daytime. It is because, most of the opportunities, like jobs and schools, are to be found in Manila. There are some people from other provinces, like Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite, travel all the way to Manila to seize opportunities. Of course, just like me, although I am living in Quezon City, I am traveling to Manila since the College I'm in is at Manila. I usually do it before pandemic comes. But, we are now in distance learning. Happy New Year!
Have faith in JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR for HE SAVES from hell❗️ *What is the Gospel?* The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. The japan train delay certificate is a thing because Japanese trains are so punctual, you can plan your commute down to the minute without the need for buffers. So if the schedule says this train leaves my station at 8:40 and reaches the next station at 8:43, where I could switch to another train that leaves at 8:44 and arrives at my company by 8:55, then I can go to my station everyday at 8:40 and expect both trains will arrive and leave on time and I'll get to my company without being late. But just like what's said in the video, if the first train delays for more than a few minutes and only arrives at 8:45, then I can't get to the next station on time to catch the 8:44 train there, and so I'll be late for work. This is where the late certificate comes in. This is the same reason why starting the train early is a problem.

Little correction: France borders 11 countries: Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, Spain, Andorra, Brazil, Suriname AND the Netherlands (on an island called Saint Martin in the Carribean though)
Not exactly. While Saint Martin is part of France proper, Sint Maarten is not considered part of the state of the Netherlands, but its own self governing territory within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. So France borders this territory, not the Netherlands itself.

4:08 I may add that this phenomenon is known as "Desierto Florido" (Desert bloom, or literally "flowerful desert") and it isn't that rare, usually around september-october (spring) some parts of the desert may bloom because of the seeds that lie beneath the ground of the region, making a beautiful landscape with colorful flowers. Here’s a fun fact from Puerto Rico: The Republic of Puerto Rico was founded on the 23rd of September, 1868 in the town of Lares and a few nearby surrounding regions and lasted for only one day. It had one president named Francisco Ramirez Medina.
Argentina has the first welsh colony in the world(Y Wladfa), there are cities in the Chubut province founded by welsh people called "Puerto Madryn", "Trelew", "Trevelin", etc. Is documented than even 25.000 people speak a "patagonian" dialect of welsh(between 5000 and 12.200 as their mother tongue)
Hey, I live in a city of 5 million people founded by *Batman* . John Batman founded Melbourne when he thought Tasmania was too crowded, I can't imagine what he would think if he saw his "pleasant village" now.

It didn't catch on though!
I find that "fact" of New Zealand having the 1st man to climb mount Everest a bit sketchy, I'm certain he had a sharpa accompany him (the guy right next to him). Those people have had knowledge of that mountain even before westerners had an interest in climbing it.

7:50 France actually shares a border with 11 countries. you forgot about the "overseas collectivity" of Saint-Martin, which borders the Dutch overseas territory of Sint Maarten, meaning France has a border with the Netherlands
7:52 Eleven. They also share a border with us, the Netherlands, through our respective overseas territories Sint Maarten (a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, therefore Dutch) and Saint Martin (same name and roughly same situation, but French).

This is slightly confusing: 3:14 - Botswana - Zambia, 150m, "Shortest total border between two countries" 13:23 - Morocco - Spain, 85m, "Shortest international border in the world" Is it because Morocco and Spain is also bordering in the Mediterranean? Seems like the only logical explanation.
Yeah, it is a little bit confusing. It's shortest TOTAL border, then shortest section of a border, because Spain and Morocco share other borders at the other Spanish exclaves.
Though the Botswana Zambia border fact is technically correct; I do believe you can go from Namibia to Zimbabwe without entering either Botswana or Zambia on paper so in practice it is a 4-way border allowing people to travel over the river between any two countries they want.
How Mexico managed that? that doesn't seem like something china would allow, seeing how all the other pandas are officially BORROWED from them AND how everyone bend over backward not to piss off china.

The "San Jose, Florida" you put on your San Jose map is not a town. It's a neighbrhood within Jacksonville. Jacksonville incorporated the entire county (minus a couple small towns) like 50 years ago, so those places like Brooklyn, Riverside, San Jose, etc, are not towns anymore.
Wait, so is the Botswana-Zambia border (Austin 03:16) the shortest in the world or is it Morocco-Spanish exclave (13:24)? I assume the latter isn't formally recognized since it involves an exclave?
no with one of them he said "shortest TOTAL border" iirc, this is because spain and marocco border at more places, so the border between the countries isnlonger

You could keep making these videos forever. There's endless facts and I love watching them.
Please upload more often, your videos are great!
My life has no other joy than knowing the fact that wb sued the country of Turkey for having a city called Batman
Here’s a fun fact from Puerto Rico:
The Republic of Puerto Rico was founded on the 23rd of September, 1868 in the town of Lares and a few nearby surrounding regions and lasted for only one day.
Everyone: why can't you just be normal!?
Nepal: *SCREAMS*
Nepal: We are not a part of India!
Hey, I live in a city of 5 million people founded by *Batman* . John Batman founded Melbourne when he thought Tasmania was too crowded, I can't imagine what he would think if he saw his "pleasant village" now.
Dave, please get off the internet and back into quarantine
Another Welsh village once tried to steal the title of the longest British place name as a publicity stunt during a protest against plans for a wind farm, with the name translating as 'A quiet beautiful village, a historic place with a rare kite under threat from wretched blades'. It didn't catch on though!
Greece has a second national animal apart from the dolphin, which is the mythical animal Phoenix.
Happy New Year, WonderWhy!
Happy new year!
If I had money in my card, I would buy nebula+curiosity stream bundle
same
i fucking love this youtuber, no bullshit 2 min long intros, just a 10 (or shorter) sec intro and straight into the > 15 mins of content, never change
its amazing that Tutu and Mandela grew up on the same street
Happy new year Wonder!
Best way to see in the New Year.
Haud Hogmanay
This is fascinating. Love this channel. ✌️
Love this video, I could watch this for hours
7:51 it’s actually 11 countries. France borders the Netherlands in the island of Saint-Martin/Sint Maarten
I find that "fact" of New Zealand having the 1st man to climb mount Everest a bit sketchy, I'm certain he had a sharpa accompany him (the guy right next to him). Those people have had knowledge of that mountain even before westerners had an interest in climbing it.
It is sketchy, but the fact that you need oxygen to climb it might mean it is true
@@samplename8721 Actually people have climbed it without an oxygen tank
THANK YOU for the dose of common sense. Different indigenous people around the earth have developed tolerance to a thin atmosphere.
Yes he had a Sherpa but they reached the top at the same time
5:53 This monument was featured in an episode of Tom Scott's "Lateral" quiz show. 🙂
Great video.. thanks 😊
7:39 Finland isn‘t Scandinavia
Its only in Finscandia
@@baltulielkungsgunarsmiezis9714 Try Fennoscandia :)
Great video 😊📸
Thank you for this info
You have an amazing way to present us with all this facts. I was somehow bother to know all pandas belong to one country, somehow does not seem right. Thank you.✌
2:39 As I understand the first skyscraper in Europe is located in Madrid. It would be the Edificio Telefonica (Telefonica Building) built between 1926 and 1929.
I believe that is a question of definitions.
Great video!
7:50
That's false, France borders the Netherlands too making 11. It's on the island of Saint Martin, in the carribean.
Finally. Happy new year
7:50 France actually shares a border with 11 countries. you forgot about the "overseas collectivity" of Saint-Martin, which borders the Dutch overseas territory of Sint Maarten, meaning France has a border with the Netherlands
Thanks so much...really interesting..and "fun" to read and learn.!!!!!!
7:52 Eleven. They also share a border with us, the Netherlands, through our respective overseas territories Sint Maarten (a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, therefore Dutch) and Saint Martin (same name and roughly same situation, but French).
3:36 Also, Brazil's eastern most point is closer to Africa than its own western most point.
These type of videos are my favourite ones, I love these fascinating facts about countries! Happy new year for you too and keep up the great work, love you from Hungary!
my obsession with random facts vids growing up are the reason i have ankle depth knowledge of many things but cant elaborate on most of them
You are seriously one of my favorite channels. I wish you did more videos, but the ones we do get are high quality and amazing. Thank you for continuing to make this amazing content.
This is slightly confusing:
3:14 - Botswana - Zambia, 150m, "Shortest total border between two countries"
13:23 - Morocco - Spain, 85m, "Shortest international border in the world"
Is it because Morocco and Spain is also bordering in the Mediterranean? Seems like the only logical explanation.
Yeah, it is a little bit confusing. It's shortest TOTAL border, then shortest section of a border, because Spain and Morocco share other borders at the other Spanish exclaves.
What do you use to edit your videos?
The legend himself is back!
3:13 Every country needs GDH.
I hope part 2 soon
20:17 what is recreational cannabis? Some context would be nice
It's a disgusting habit
I've only watched all the way to Bahamas, this is such a good video! Happy New Years Eve WonderWhy!
Awesome video.
Well, that's funny. A city in Turkey called batman? Hahaha! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Batman: Show me your weapon.
Turkish President: I have one.... THE BATMAN PROVINCE!
Batman: Wait, what? Impossible!! I'm Batman!!
Melbourne Australia was supposed to be called Batmania after its founder John Batman.
Your videos are the best
The M1 is also known as the Monash Freeway. Has so many things named after that guy here.
Ok, this was a cool video and very informative, but can we talk about how he said the name of that welsh city perfectly, or at least almost perfectly.
Though the Botswana Zambia border fact is technically correct; I do believe you can go from Namibia to Zimbabwe without entering either Botswana or Zambia on paper so in practice it is a 4-way border allowing people to travel over the river between any two countries they want.
That border caused a big dispute so now it's much better defined
this is what you believed, but not true
4:18 there´s only two pandas not owned by China in the world, both of them are in Chapultepec Zoo, Mexico City
How Mexico managed that? that doesn't seem like something china would allow, seeing how all the other pandas are officially BORROWED from them AND how everyone bend over backward not to piss off china.
@@invaderjp1984 Cause Mexico was one of the first countries to receive pandas, even before the law that makes chinese every panda, so the pandas in Mexico are descendants of the only pandas that scaped from that law, haha
Interestingly, Northern Ireland also has Game of Thrones tours, a lot of the show was filmed here as well
He said the most common flags are the Ulster banner and st Patrick's saltire he's got no clue what he's talking about
Due why are you showing ROC as part of PRC are you paid or what change your maps
The shortest international border is actually between Spain and Morocco, at just 74m.
His wording was careful there, and accurate.
@@qwertyTRiG He does indeed say "shortest total border", but it is still misleading.
I remember flying from San Jose to San Jose when going to Costa Rica from California... was pretty funny
It would be more understandalbe if you says form San Hose to San Jose.
@@baltulielkungsgunarsmiezis9714 alright, alright fixed the type... was SJ-SJ. How many flights are you gonna take like that?
@@glennaldosf What Im saying is that spanish j is english h so if its in the USA its should be San Hose.
20:30 he clutched that
You should of added this fun fact in video - the UAE has an Oman enclave which also has a small UAE enclavr within it.
Your diagram at 17:52 has 7 Spanish months and only 5 French! Sacré bleu!
You have such an interesting accent. Where are you from?
Watched till Wales. Now I know where you from :)
Wonder what Henry Ford would make of the black cars one?
Other fun fact: The largest producer of ice hockey pucks for non-American competitions is located in Czechia/Czech Republic.
It would be great if you show each country on map simultaneously on the same slide
Fun fact: The url code of this video starts with three underscores
lol
6:34 14:43 16:44 20:26 yeah those are interesting facts about the REGIONS of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales in the COUNTRY of the United Kingdom
In Canada, St-John's un Newfoundland is 1000 km closer to Paris than to the other Canadian city of Vancouver. And Paris is 400 km from the Atlantic.
8:02 isnt it 11 with the netherlands on saint martin?
Yes
17:47 Spain has 7 months??
i really like how some are actually fun like the longest city name in ireland
