Winners & Losers - Episode 3: Planets

- After 3 long years, episode 3 of Winners and Losers is finally here with Episode 3: Planets.
In this episode I look in great detail at the sizes of the planets, compared to each other, and what Earth would be like if it were the size of the largest and smallest planets in the Solar System. I also go on to look at mass, rotation/orbital periods, moons, and axial tilt.
I look at some of the odd things about the Solar Systems, like why Venus has a day longer than its year, and why the planets actually spins backwards relative to Earth.

Darn, beat me to it!
Jupitor has 69 moons at the time this video was made?
*Nice*
The naming convention for Jupiter's moons is that they're typically named after Zeus's lovers. To give an idea of how many he had: That white stuff on the summit of Mt. Olympus is not snow.
@@Daniel_Huffman Zeus was a chad
*"jupitor"*
It's spelled "Jupiter".

Second video THIS MONTH! Very unlike me, I know. Finally got around to continuing my Winners and Losers series that I start back in 2014, looking at the planets of our solar system.
This is my second video for November and I've pretty been working non-stop since the Catalonia video, so I really hope you enjoy this video. It's something a little bit different, it's not the most structured video in the world and that was intentional, with lots of random facts and going off on a tangent. Almost had bit of Vsauce feel to it, right?
Anyway, huge thanks you to everyone for watching and subscribing, and hopefully I can get into the habit of uploading on a somewhat regular basis! See you next time, cheers!
WonderWhy Mercury has one of the weirdest relationships between it's day and year. Can someone create a calenders and clock for the place?

YES I LOVE THIS SERIES

Interesting about Venus' backwards rotation compared to the other planets.
The Electric Universe, "The Thunderbolts Project" found on UA-cam says that Venus was a premature developed planet, aborted when the present day sun captured Saturn, our original brown dwarf sun where Earth, Mars Neptune and possibly another planet or two (where we lived within its atmosphere) was captured by present day Sun. This caused catastrophic upheaval until the planets moved to their present positions and stability returned.
Check it out guys. Most interesting science and supported by electrical engineers who are practical scientists as apposed to philosophic physics which is made up of theoretical complications, by mathemagicians.

Great job with Episode 3. How about empires for episodes 4-6
Episode 4: Ancient Empires
All empires prior to the fall of Rome in 476 CE
Episode 5: Medieval Empires
All empires between the fall of Rome in 476 and the fall of Constantinople in 1453. SPOILER: the Mongols will take #1 in size
Episode 6: Modern Empires
All empires after 1453 from the Spanish conquistadors to the end of World War II
Oh, new thought. How about for Episode 7 you make a champion version of the winners and losers from these three potential episodes. Winners from episode 4, 5 and six compared and contrasted in episode 7. Just a thought
Good idea
How about modern empires end in 1999 because that’s when the last major Empire(or last Empire i don’t know)ended
Too much empires...
This is good, but leaves no room for the great native American empires like the Maya, Inca, or Aztecs.
Happy birthday, person raised on Saturn!!

Happy birthday you are 29 on your first birthday.

I haven't watched the video, but I'd love to see the german states next.
This is my favourite series of you.
SturmZebraLP I genuinely didn't know Germany had states... (And I have actually been there), not sure if that means he should do it to educate us, or not do it because I don't know how popular it would be
Well, idk but I'm german at least

That would be awesome, but i don't think he's gonna do it, because only a small portion of his viewers are german. :(

Happy 1st birthday

It's June 27 2019
typo its the 17th
17th june huh.
well it's close now.
yup
As an update, Saturn was discovered to have 82 moons in around December 2019, surpassing Jupiter’s 79 moons
YES YES YESSSSS!!!!!
Do a video about Oceans and seas
Uranus also spins clockwise, but since it rotates sideways, it spins from south to north, instead of east to west.
Also for a future winners and losers video you should do the dwarf planets. Since you’ve already done the planets, it only makes sense that you do the dwarf planets next. There are a lot of dwarf planets, so it would be a fun comparison.
We officially want continents in part 4!
What about the Canadian Provinces?
Cnek says the person with a burning maple leaf as the user icon.
Happy birthday nonexistent person on Saturn!
Also make Part 4 States and Provinces (not of the US, but of all countries), like if you support the idea so WonderWhy can see.
Saturn has taken the new place as the planet with most moons with 84 moons, with Jupiter having only 79
Hey WonderWhy,
I live in America. You should do a video about the provinces of our northern neighbor, Canada. This is my recommendation for part 4 of Winners and Losers.
Your subscriber,
Jax Matthews
Episode 4: Major Cities
Ex. Tokyo, Japan. New York, New York. Los Angeles, California. Chicago, Illinois. Moscow, Russia. Beijing, China. Shanghai, China.
11:23 So we still don’t have a name for earths moon 🌚 huh it’s just called “moon”
ColinPlayz Piano It's called The Moon and Luna
FD Tempted_Chaos Thank you so much this was a question I have been wondering forever
ColinPlayz Piano np. :) Cus I'm bored here's a useless Space Fact. (you might already know this) About 40 light years away there is a planet cataloged as 55 Cancri E is about the size of Neptune, and (used to be made mostly lf carbon) but due to high pressures and heat from the star it orbits, most of the carbon turned into diamonds. But, if you were somehow able to bring back diamonds from that planet they would be worthless, as the value in something increases the rarer it is. Seriously, Diamonds on that planet is as common as leaves in a forest, or sand on desert.
It’s called “Luna”. Dang it it reminds me of my cat.
@@banzai5780 luna is moon in spanish 🤔🤔😂😂
PART 4 PLEASE :)
Please continue this
Dang I miss Saturn new year 🤦🏻♂️
I imagine Jupiter being the Texas of the Solar System.
Or, you know, the Alaska
@@Ekvitarius nah, alaska's the sun. we like to forget about it when seeing who's the biggest because they're somehow *different.*
Well it would depend on the category, right? If were only talking about planets or all of the sun’s satellites or the entire system
The sun is now Alaska
Remember kids, Uranus actually rotates on its side
It's here. It's here!.
