Probably because the PSP's speakers were really small and limited. Now we have HD playback systems, you could hear how good the musicianship was on this track.
It really is a fantastic track! The Generations one is too busy. This song is pure monster hunter. Living the simple life, honing your craft, being a member of the community.
This is the most emotional comment section I’ve seen, and it’s because this music truly encapsulates the joy-free feel of childhood, mixed in with that incredible relief after only fainting two times before killing tigrex (at least if you were me as a child, he’s not so easy!)
dude, recently i found my old PSP and try to fight tigrex in MHFU again, and i can confirm that sonofarex is still as hard as it used to be, maybe because the broken hitbox lol
I play MHFU with my brothers PSVita because I had 4 PSP in my life and over the course of time the analog joy stick brakes from wear and tare Also if you have time practice using the hammer and time your hits when fighting the Tigrex with flash bombs and soon the Tigrex won’t even be a challenge instead he’ll be a cake walk?
Yup. I mained bow and arrow during that time and my gosh Tigrex was my biggest challenge as a kid. Now I'm 19 and fighting Tigrex in Iceborne is pretty easy.
In my 3-4 years of mhfu i collected 2500 hours in this Game it was my one and all. I Hope Monster Hunter world will give me at least the half of this fun time
This is the kind of soundtrack that you will barely notice ingame, but once you listen to it outside of the game, countless happy memories surge back to you. I miss this feeling of safety and coziness right after an intense hunt. God I love this game.
I have a mixed feeling of this track. My crush from middle school rejected me right before this game came out, and then I played this game almost every night to try not to think of her XD

Freedom 2 was my first Monster Hunter game and I've played with it until Unite. I skipped 3 and 4 when I went to college and finally got Generations after graduating. Listening to this theme reminds me of being a kid outside the house near the sea playing with my cousins being silly, playing "tag" with bowguns and bombing each other with gunlances. Oh monster hunter, my sweet sweet serendipity.
Ayy, that's so cool of you. My friends and I back in 3U called that pvp hunter xD Man, it's so nice to hear about others chilling in MH. You don´t really value the memories you had as a child until you start growing up and begin to understand that your friends, the school and the feeling of just playing videogames for fun is never coming back. You could never get to repeat those moments ever.
Today i downloaded mhfu to my pc and tried to simulate the same atmosphera i felt 10 years ago when i was just a kid playing in my bed with my psp and this awesome game, no stress nor problems on my mind. I wanna go back guys, i wanna feel the same peace again :( Thanks for uploading this, it really made me cry. (from a 22 years old guy)
Im turning 19 in november and yeah i totally get how you feel, this song legit made me burts into tears, remembering the good old days of sneaking into my parents bedroom to snatch my psp on my dads wardrobe in the middle of the night to play gta 3 and monster hunters, im in college now, and i can barely touch my pc and ps4 anymore, shit really made me wish i was a kid again.
It's like a time capsule. Not just from the music taking me back to a simpler time but also seeing all the comments from my fellow hunters from nearly a decade ago. I hope all of you are doing well and I wish you the best in these trying times. Happy Hunting!

...boy those were the days. Hanging out with my brother in my grandma's place, one reading the monster hunter wiki on crappy phone internet in the middle of nowhere and another hunting Rathian for the first time... And a year after that finally being able to solo Lao... Those summers just feel so distant today. I grew up into a adult. I work my ass of daily. Life just doesn't have that magic anymore.
2009 woke up in a humble cottage after my first encounter with the mighty tigrex. Later, went to the training school. Learnt a few tricks. Then armed with a bone sword and off i go to my first journey. I still remember how strong i am, voilently slashed few bullfangos untill i encountered the bulldromes. My first outdoor cooking, man i burnt the meat but later i hired the best chef to cook in my kitchen. The food were amazing! Then i went to hunt again. this time i aim for larger beast yian kt ku, congalala, khezu including the iconic duo rathian and rathalos. i slayed them all and captured some. everything was perfect till i received an urgent quest 'absolute power' from the elder. no words can describe how happy i am when i first defeated the tigrex after countless attempts. move forward and i aim for the largest beast like shen gaoren, lao shan lung and the mighty akantor including two super saiyan beast in a small arena with no hope. Then i met new friends and together we went to the guild hall and aim for more ferocious beast including the elder dragons and ukanlos. It was fun. Then i went to college, graduated and get a job. Never visited this village for a very long time, as my psp was broken and the data was corrupted. Move on, but 2019, here i am listening to this theme, and slowly whisper in my heart 'I'm home'
Nothing will ever beat the first time you load up the game for the first time and hearing this while walking around to talk to people. This is in the same league as hearing Maple Story's title theme for the very first time, or hearing Prontera's theme from Ragnarok Online for the very first time. You remember it from the first moment you hear it.
I just got into Iceborne with my friend, and I just had to come back to listen to where the snowy village all begun, where we all started as hunters, home. I still remember gearing up for our first Tigrex fight, four gunlances and wyvern fire! Nostalgic.
at first i don't give a damn about the theme of this village but the mission called land of tremors after beating those tigrex hearing this song is so rejuvenating
This was what was missing in Monster Hunter World. I remember playing the game on PS2 with friends as kids and when the port version of the PSP came out, we all saved up for the console and Japanese version of the game later we also bought the English version. The nostalgia :) of the old world and village.
16 years laters, this music still in my head. I didn't think a music from a video game like this will give me such a powerfull mix of melancholy and joy. I fucking love Monster hunter
This holds a special place in my heart as my all time favorite village theme - MHF2 and Unite, playing with my bros in the basement after school on PSP… those were the times I’ll cherish forever.
You’ve just got back from gruelling quest, you and your best friend. You fought for 35 minutes, running out of potions. You had to go back to the camp to sleep and recover health. At long last, however, you’ve done it. You run to the smithy, skip to the final page and looks for the red flashing exclamation marks, excited to see what that Monster’s armour and weapons look like :)
Auroros Helm Ten Auroros Mail Ten Auroros Gauntlets Ten Auroros Tasset Ten Auroros Greaves Ten Ugh... I just can't can't afford the Ashen Lao Armor set because I haven't fought Lunastra or obtained a Rathalos Ruby yet.
This game and soundtrack (along with the Guild Hall music) was the music of all the good times of me and my friends in high school. Hanging out at odd times at someone's house when we really should be home. So many memories.
I almost cry when i hear this ost, the nostalgia , all those memories, dying and getting my ass kicked, picking up the great sword, playing Co Op, my first Cat Zak, in every MH game i make a version of him because hes like a virtual friend, thank you MHFU for making my life tolerable.
Oof, can't hear this one without tearing up. So many memories with this game. I played this back when it all made sense. Life was so much simpler. It's really a special thing to be transported back to earlier times. Hats off, Capcom. The best OST in history
Tired after going home from college, booting up ppsspp, calling out that one friend who is a monster hunter geek, telling him to immediately join the server. Fail miserably to some annoying monsters like gravios and plesioth. Whining about the game mechanic but keeping the guts to post the same quest over and over again. That one friend never gives up and so do I. It's like some sort of emotional connection that forces us to keep trying no matter how difficult the quests are. What a blissful cycle of life that someday I would probably never be bothered to do anymore.
im lost count how many time i open this video, after all these year, im still hear this song when need relax, beautiful music plus nostalgia feel keep me here
this is my favorite video game song of all time. i mean it when i say that. hundreds of games i've played, maybe tens of thousands of hours, and this is the best. thanks for uploading!
You know. I feel like I owe Monster Hunter a huge thank you. This series has given me so much inspiration to make my own monsters and worlds which has become such a huge part of my life. Not only that but Monster Hunter has brought me and my friends so close. I love these games so much and the community as well.
Life was simple back then...you're in your teen along with your buddies goofing around in the guild hall, grinding your HR together, sending some of ur mates flew with ur hammer. Life was fun this game is what made me love the franchise, and it's a memory i cn nvr get back but it's a moment tht forevr will i cherish. Ill continue shed my tears whenever ill listen to this theme, it's a part of me i never evr want to forget
This music reminds me of when in my childhood I used to watch my older brother play this game on the PSP, as the years went by I grew up and bought my first Monster Hunter game and since then I have been a fan of the saga
I remember getting this game in high school. I had no clue what I was getting into, just saw you could fight big monsters and asked my parents if they could get it for me. I remember begging them and showing them them cool stuff on them back of them case while the KMart worker patiently waited. Usually my parents would say no to a full price game, we struggled a little bit, but for whatever reason they said yes. As we checked out in the entertainment section, the employee was explaining to me how hard the game is, and that I could return it if it was too hard... Obviously I didn't believe him and kinda shrugged it off. Finally at home with my new game, a full case of mountain dew, as many corn dogs as a kid could ever want, and no school the next day, I dug into Monster Hunter for the first time in my life. I could never have imagined the impact this game, and subsequently series, would have on my life. The memories I've made, the friends that have come and gone, the lessons learned... Throughout the last 15 years Monster Hunter had been a constant. A consistent throughline connecting my careless years as a child, to my life now as a father, provider, and husband. My wife, 8yo, 14yo and I play Monster Hunter Rise together nearly every night... A lot of people in this comment section are emotional, and I totally get it. We were kids, carefree and... Well, free. And while those days will never come again, at least, not in the same exact capacity... Well... I think that's ok. If we could relive them whenever we wanted, we wouldn't look back on them so fondly. I hope anyone who reads this is doing ok. I hope anyone who isn't doing ok knows that someday, they WILL be ok. Triple carting is just a reminder to come back more prepared. Most importantly, come back.
This... Is home, for me. Every time I come back to Pokke Village, it's like reuniting with a piece of my soul I'd sworn had worn away, ground to dust by the never-ending torrent of depression and horror known as adult life. But here in Pokke village? I feel at ease. Things are simpler. There's still wonder in the world. I'm finally home.
I became a monster hunter fan about 4 months ago as of writing this comment with rise. After 170 hours, I decided I wanted to try out mhfu, but couldn't get into it. Yet for the 5 hours that I played mhfu, this song stuck to me, so when I bought mhgu, and found out that I could go to Pokke village, a burst of happiness just filled me. I always go to Pokke village, just so I can hear the music and see the beautiful mountain scenery. I like this song so much, I decided to spend 4 bucks, only so I could have it playing everywhere in Kamura village in mhr. Truly a magnificent song, truly a magnificent place. Not even 2 months after I discover Pokke village, I already feel a part of the nostalgia that everyone else is feeling in the comment section. I really want Pokke village to be remade for a modern mh game, not only to bring back the music, but to bring back the village so many people love in HD. I am truly thankful that I had the opportunity to get into the monster hunter fandom, and hunt alongside newbies like me, as well as veterans and even friends of mine. Thank you Capcom, for this amazing franchise that just seems to never stop giving.
Once upon a time, someone in Capcom thought _"You know what? I wanna create a game where you battle big monsters with other players."_ In 2004, Monster Hunter, one of Capcom's greatest title ever, was born.
When I was a boy I took a ferry once, one of the ones in Vancouver. I don't know how it is with kids today but if you saw someone playing a handheld like a PSP 18ish years ago then that was fair game to walk up and start shooting the shit. He and I hit it off and he starts showing me one of the coolest games I'd never heard of. Monster Hunter 2 Freedom Unite, try saying that ten times fast. So over the hourish that we're on this ferry he shows me his gear, different monsters and even showed me him beating up tigrex in his own armour and making jokes about it. That was it man, I got a PSP like a month later and picked up MH2FU. Looking back and realizing that kid was probably around the same age as me he must have either played a crap ton or been cracked to have all the stuff he did.
This brought back memories of me and my friends, when we were on 6th grade, talking about how we managed to clear quests from the village elder. I was so excited coming to school just to tell them I killed tigrex using a daimyo hermitaur's greatsword. I was really happy listening to how they killed other monsters too. And there we were, amazed by each other's stories. We were so close back then and now we don't talk too much since some of us went to different schools. Then I found out some of my new friends in college are also friends with them and it makes me happy to know that they're all doing well. I feel like we don't have the guts to reach out and talk about how close we were back then, but if there's a miniscule chance they'd bring that up, boy I'd be more than happy.
I'm pretty sure alot of you shed a couple tears as we listen to this, as I'm doing now as I'm typing this. I can't speak for everyone, but I know a lot of us started our careers here as Hunters. God, we were all such rookies. Those who have played from the beginning must've had grins as big as the Old World itself, seeing all these new bright eyed Hunters take the stage. We fought many hard battles, won many, lost many, but we all made our mark in this damn game. Now look at us! Years later. Now were those Hunter Veterans that looked at us ages ago. It makes me so happy seeing all these new bright eyed Hunters coming from World. And it's not over yet. We still have what I can hope to be our biggest challenge yet on March 26th. The Hunters Guild isn't going anywhere! We'll all join together once again, and hunt some DAMN MONSTERS!
This is the song I hear to bring myself back down to earth after leaving home in pursuit of money and “a better life”. Funny enough these materialistic needs have only made us bitter and resentful as so many of us forcefully walk this path feeling as there’s something else we should be doing with our existence. This is the song that reminds me where it all started, the song that reminds me where I came from. What a humbling experience. Thank you Monster Hunter, thank you Capcom, thank you for bringing us all together and forging the deepest and strongest memories of our lives so heavily carved into our soul. Thanks to you, we will never forget! ❤️
POV: You just killed the first big monster(Giadrome) and all the new locations, armor, weapons and monsters have unlocked for you to explore and make some of the greatest memories of your life with.
1400 hrs on PSP MH2G, with killing more than 1000 Tigrexes (I practiced a lot and was able to kill G-Level-Tigrex in 5 mins with no damage). It was done when I was 14. Later my PSP got broken. All of the sudden, I had to stop playing my favorite MHP2G since my family didn't let me play PSP anymore, it just left broken. I was so sad about it. It's been more than 10 years, I've grown up and am affordable for buying myself a high end computer to play MHW, but time has changed. I am not the kid who's able to spend lots of time on playing video games now. I have only time, to come here, to listen to my childhood.
I know right. That childhood feeling cannot be replaced.. never.. whatever we do that kind happiness will always be unique. I'm crying as I write this.. I don't want to grow up and continue my life but I want the times I had when I was a kid.
Wish I could shake the hands of everyone who was ever apart of making Mh games. Been a massive fan since 2009. These are more than games to me. Thanks for the memories.
Get emotional every damn time when i hear this song. Started playing since MONSTER HUNTER 1 in PS2 ! now im with my PS4 and Monster hunter world in it. Home is where you have people who think about you, for a long time my home felt like a place I couldn’t go too, but this village man, it brought hope in my eyes because I had friends who I could call family and we had this village that we called home.

This is where I began my journey as a hunter. Explored many different continents and fighting myriad of battles against fantastic beasts, returning to Pokke to feast on the felyne cuisine, to bargain with the granny, to tend to your farm and to hear this song always brings piece to my heart. Long live Monster Hunter.
I will always remember the first time I played this game. I was eight years old, I had taken a game at random and stolen my brother's PSP. My mother had just washed the laundry and it was drying in front of the open window, spreading a good smell of clean laundry throughout the house. I'm launching the game. And I fall in love. Music. The village. The kitchen. The grandma. Popos, Antekas and the Tigrex ! Forever in my heart ❤

Flash bombs and the khezu hammer maxed out gets the job done with the Tigrex
dude, recently i found my old PSP and try to fight tigrex in MHFU again, and i can confirm that sonofarex is still as hard as it used to be, maybe because the broken hitbox lol
I play MHFU with my brothers PSVita because
I had 4 PSP in my life and over the course of time the analog joy stick brakes from wear and tare
Also if you have time practice using the hammer and time your hits when fighting the Tigrex with flash bombs and soon the Tigrex won’t even be a challenge instead he’ll be a cake walk?
Yup. I mained bow and arrow during that time and my gosh Tigrex was my biggest challenge as a kid. Now I'm 19 and fighting Tigrex in Iceborne is pretty easy.

Oh monster hunter, my sweet sweet serendipity.

...boy those were the days.
Dude my brother and cousin did this exact thing... they would be at my grandmas house playing this game on the weekends.
This was the greatest comment I have ever read
I hope you can play this game in an emulator and revisit those memories. We all deserve it hehe. To live and have fun simultaneously.

Nothing will ever beat the first time you load up the game for the first time and hearing this while walking around to talk to people. This is in the same league as hearing Maple Story's title theme for the very first time, or hearing Prontera's theme from Ragnarok Online for the very first time.

This was what was missing in Monster Hunter World. I remember playing the game on PS2 with friends as kids and when the port version of the PSP came out, we all saved up for the console and Japanese version of the game later we also bought the English version. The nostalgia :) of the old world and village.
I can relate so much. What a childhood. I did not regret every moment I spend on playing monster hunter.
16 years laters, this music still in my head. I didn't think a music from a video game like this will give me such a powerfull mix of melancholy and joy.
I fucking love Monster hunter
This holds a special place in my heart as my all time favorite village theme - MHF2 and Unite, playing with my bros in the basement after school on PSP… those were the times I’ll cherish forever.

i like to think that you've just finished a long exhausting hunt and this song is the feeling of finally coming home.
Welcome home everyone... (I'm crying)

Auroros Mail Ten
Auroros Gauntlets Ten
Auroros Tasset Ten
Auroros Greaves Ten

This game and soundtrack (along with the Guild Hall music) was the music of all the good times of me and my friends in high school. Hanging out at odd times at someone's house when we really should be home. So many memories.

At long last. I have returned home.

My heart shivers. Again, I’m not crying..
Ahhh. Remembering the days when i used to play alot on my PSP.
Oof, can't hear this one without tearing up. So many memories with this game. I played this back when it all made sense. Life was so much simpler. It's really a special thing to be transported back to earlier times. Hats off, Capcom. The best OST in history
what real home feels like
Tired after going home from college, booting up ppsspp, calling out that one friend who is a monster hunter geek, telling him to immediately join the server.
I've fallen asleep to this cozy music so many times...
This is what old ppl call "home", what a great song to remember good old days :) I can even listen to the old woman giving us missions
Did anyone else sell their loved psp and miss it? 😪 I used to love this game, still do.

This is nostalgic asf and I’ll never let this little gem go again
I wanna create a game where you battle big monsters with other players."_
In 2004, Monster Hunter, one of Capcom's greatest title ever, was born.
This feels nostalgic despite never hearing or playing the game before
Remember mining a giant black sword in the farm area
I miss being a kid and playing this amazing game on my psp
This is the song I hear to bring myself back down to earth after leaving home in pursuit of money and “a better life”. Funny enough these materialistic needs have only made us bitter and resentful as so many of us forcefully walk this path feeling as there’s something else we should be doing with our existence. This is the song that reminds me where it all started, the song that reminds me where I came from. What a humbling experience.

Forever in my heart ❤
This hits hard man I remember when I was around 8 or 9 one Saturday morning around 7.00 am my brothers woke me up and I looked at them they were already up playing on there psps this game of course I instantly got excited and hopped on as well and man I don’t think we left the spot we were sitting in for the rest of the day I wish I could go back to those days so badly but it sucks knowing you will never get times like that back nowadays my brothers are not doing so well and listening to this makes me just almost cry ngl I wish I could time travel haha
haha I used to do the same. Except I didn’t have a psp at the time so I could never play. Good ol times man
