Agree with 99% of this , all except the walking thing. Walking is 100% exercising, and I'm a pretty serious athlete. I hit the gym daily , plus jiujitsu in the evenings 2-3 times weekly. I added walking 2 to 3 times daily and lost 10 lbs of fat while maintaining strength, within just a couple of months! Walking is definitely exercising!
@@TheDeepStank Walking is great for stoking the metabolism and grounding. It has multiple benefits. Scientific studies have come out on the psychological and physical benefits of walking for health and longevity.
@@KenWang2 Most Drs. know very little about nutrition. They are all about pushing pills, because the Drs. get kick backs from big pharm when their patients are prescribed drugs. Thats why they don't want to tell you anything about natural remedies because they will not make any more from that.
Walking may not be exercise for you two who are physically fit, but for older people starting out it is, for obese people, it is, for injured people, it is... walking 2 to 3 miles a day has helped me tremendously...

This was great. Beef, etc. are crucial for me. I work out at home now and it is far better than the gym and I work harder. I no longer can afford the gym. Walking is crucial to health, depends on how fast you walk and if you do a hill. It can be superior!! My father lived to be 99, always said, "Listen to your body, the body needs a walk". Sometimes it all comes down to money, can you afford the weights, food, time. Unfortunately that is reality for some. I will do the three days a week and get the book. I built a home gym because I value my sleep so it saves me time to not have to go to the gym to workout but I do go on the weekends for legs or change of environment to keep me motivated. During the work week home workouts are more convenient though.

Good morning Ed, I am listening to this interview from my farm in Pennsylvania. At 5:00 a.m. I ate a breakfast consisting of 3/4 lb of 73% 27% ground beef (51g of protein, 90g of fat), 6 scrambled eggs (36g of protein, 30g of fat), 3 pieces of bacon (18g of protien, 18g of fat), all mixed together in a big bowl with a tall glass of fresh springwater (we are blessed to have an excellent spring) with 18mg of magnesium, 158mg of chloride, and 53mg of potassium added for electrolytes. I have been starting my day this way for a while now. I have come to this way of eating as a result of having been extremely sick for a long time. My previous breakfast consisted of a large bowl of old fashioned rolled oats with 2% milk, honey, blueberries or a banana on top, and protien powder. A cup of coffee and a multivitamin. By 9:00 a.m. I would be hungry and would eat a protien bar and protien shake. At 11:00 I was ready for lunch consisting of a can of tuna sometimes in a salad with olive oil, fresh carrot juice, with juiced apple, spinach, celery, and sometimes swiss chard, a cup of Greek yogurt with almonds. At 2pm another protien bar and shake. At 5 dinner. Chicken breast (cooked in olive oul), whole wheat bread, baked sweet potato, and a fresh salad with olive oil. I was always hungry. I drank plenty of water throughout the day. I was 6' tall 178lbs at that time. I was breast fed as an infant, then ate eggs, pork, beef, fresh raw milk, lamb, chicken, turkey, goose, venison, fresh vegetables out of our garden, rasberrys, black berrys, and apples (when in season) all from our farm. Around 1980 we started to change our diet to low fat, (once a year my dad would let us ride with him to take lambs to market, we would stop on the way home for a wopper and fries on the way home, the only time we ate out, I'll never forget the last time we stopped there my Dad took a bite of his fries and spit them out went back to the counter and told them something was wrong, the fries tasted like crap, the manager told him they started cooking them in vegetable oil instead of lard) We started eating whole grain cerial (remember "Their Great" commercials) and bread, switched to 2% milk (sold our cows) by the 90's I ate a very low fat, high fiber, high suppliment diet following the recommended daily supposedly healthy guidelines. I've been phisicaly fit my whole life almost 49 years now. I harvest timber, climbing and felling trees daily and farm for a living. As a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's I was a huge fan of Arnolds and got into lifting weights and body building. I worked out following the Weider program, ate multiple meals a day. 8,000 calories a day trying to gain weight and put on mass. My goal was to reach 225lbs despite everything I tried 198lbs was my max. I did not have alot of energy and did not feel great (which I did not realize at that time I was very sore from working out and thought that was why) A few years ago I started having issues with irratable bowel, bloating, and fatigue. I went to my doctor, they did bloodwork, etc. and said your perfectly healthy your diet is great. Probably stress. As time went on I got worse. I would wake up itching all over, break out in hives, developed severe brain fog, tinnitus (the constant ringing in my ears drove me crazy) my vision started to fail so I went to an eye doctor and got a new perscrition, my eye doctor suggested I get checked for diabetes so I went back to my doctor. Not diabetic but my bloodwork showed a high level of inflammation. So they put me on antibiotics and steroids. My condition only got worse. I tried elimination diets recommended by my doctor, changing my diet, following the super juice me guidebook only getting sicker. It got to wear everything I ate seemed to make me sick. In the woods I would cut a tree down and walk to another and have to lay down and take a nap, sometimes 1 1/2 hours. I reached a point were I thought today is my last day I am going to lay right here in the woods and not wake up. One morning while while sitting at my kitchen table in absolute misery from itching all night and trying to decide what I should eat that day I got to thinking what would I eat if it was 10,000 years ago? What was my proper diet? I scheduled an appointment with a local natural pathic doctor. We did a full blood panel, food allergy testing (surprise I was allergic to tuna, gluten, and casien in milk) so He perscribed th1 and th2 suppliments, probiotics, and I eliminate tuna, dairy, and gluten from my diet. The hives and itching went away very quickly but I still had brain fog, tinnitus, and fatigue. My father passed away from cancer in 2010. Like yourself with your dad I was by his beadside during and after his passing. I was reflecting back on that one day and decided to listen to one of Dr Jordan Peterson's podcasts while looking for one I had not already heard I saw one were it mentioned he only ate meat for 5 years. I clicked on it and listed to his story and then his daughter 's story. I then discovered Dr Ken Berry's videos and the Carnivore diet. I immediately went on a beef, butter, eggs, liver a couple times a week for vitamins, and water with electrolytes diet. Within 3 days the brain fog was gone, tinitus gone, driving to the woods the road signs looked like brand new my vision was so much clearer like the first time walking out of the eye doctors with new glasses as a kid. I eat a big breakfast of beef, eggs, bacon and water and go to work. Later I would look at the time and it was 2pm I had not been hungry since I ate at 5am. Wow! I couldn't believe this, I could never go more than a couple hours without eating. My energy level went through the roof. I am able to stay focused on a task, something I have struggled with since my teens. I developed arthritis in my left knee after having surgery for a torn maniscus. It deterorated to bone on bone and became unbearable to walk on at times. I have wanted to have a knee replacement but they kept telling me I was too young and did injections (lasted 1 1/2 weeks with bad side effects) today having been on the Carnivor diet for a while now my arthritis pain is gone and I am climbing trees like I did in my early 20s. My energy level is constant the entire day. Despite my high level of physical work I am not sore. I crave physical activity more than I ever have in my life. I am absolutely ripped despite not having been to a gym in years. I am dusting off my weights and getting back into lifting now. I sleep like a rock and awake fully reasted and ready to go. I haven't felt this good since I was a young kid just eating what we sustainably raised on our family farm. Folks finding your proper diet should be the most important priority in your life. Without your health nothing else matters. When you do you will be able to truly do great the great things you were meant to do. Ed your videos and podcasts have helped me tremendously over the years and appreciate you for sharing your time. I look forward to reading Dr. Lyon's book. I am so glad you have her as your doctor. I was exclusively whole food plant based up until a month ago. I introduced sardines for the D3 and Omega profile. Just added organic tofu (while I was listening to your talk🙂to my oat groat and berry BeFast! Thank you for the clarity on this important issue.👌 I will be ordering my organic turkey this year and intoducing clean meats in the proper serving size. I have always been mindful of my FIBER intake. I will contiune to track my results. With the addition of animal protein and increased weight work (currently just 5-7 pounds and 3 sessions of 20 reps) maybe twice a week. Am increasing my weight workouts to 3 times a week and 10 sets of 10 reps and adding rooking to my hike. I do Pilates 5 times a week💪. It was a fantastic episode. I coach clients un a lot of the areas they were talking about and it's great to hear that reinforced. Only thing I didn't like was when they laughed at people who walk for exercise. Walking is a great form of exercise
Unless you’re age 65+ or 80+ pounds overweight no it’s not…even if you’re in those age groups only resistance training will improve your overall quality life more than only walking
I was in a cycling accident in early summer. Because I have been strength training, I believe it helped me to heal and recover better and faster than I had ever dreamed possible.

Great info! I love the research she has done on the necessity of skeletal muscle. I believe in super food, whole food nutrition for sure. :) Plus, exercise!! 😄 I personally barely eat animal products because I feel better not eating them, but it's not good to replace them with anything but super food, whole plant foods. (Like sprouts, tonnes of greens, chia, hemp, etc.). I feed my kids and hubby high quality animal products (like grass fed beef), though, to make sure they get the nutrition they need, because they don't load up on as much plant super foods as I do. Being part of a HRT clinic, we see the stigma as such a big thing to break through. Education is key for people to understand the benefit of what we do. But what we do is just a part of the part of the whole. The podcast is interesting, but I must say that cultures with the highest life expectancy are generally not extremely muscular. For example, I wouldn't say that Japanese people do a lot of weightlifting, but they are very active and eat foods that are great for the gut microbiome. I would consider walking exercise =).

This eye opening. I have been on hormone replacement since I have been in my 50's (menopausal) . I'm 66. My doctor was specifically a Menopause Doctor. Otherwise I haven't heard this before and I have had a lot of Orthopedic surgery. 😮
Very interesting! However, as a pescatarian who is mainly a vegetarian, I will NOT be going back to meat. I do keep up with my protein intake. After this though I will be upping my strength training.
This was an excellent “wake up call” to start consuming more red meat & to focus on strength training- I’ve know for a while in my gut this was the answer to feeling better My only concern is that I have lost all my molars on the bottom. I am planning on getting a “4 in 1” replacement of the whole bottom set. But in the meantime I have cut back on anything that requires chewing & eating most soft foods. And I’m only 55! So I’m gonna turn this around today

Listening to this, I just had an "aha" moment.. it makes so much sense now, why we would look at a "skinny fat" person are and they'd me ore unhealthy or unfit than, someone who might look bigger in size.. awesome one
We have great test for cardio such as v02 max, also good metrics for testing fat mass and knowing how much is healthy. People in the know can agree that a healthy muscle is both strong and big. The question is what are the best exercises to make strong and big muscles. When that question is answered We will be able to find a suitable test to measure healthy muscle mass.
yeah, she doesn't have to say "skeletal muscle." everyone knows what we're talking about when we say "muscle." but technically there are 3 types: skeletal, smooth & cardiac.

Great discussion with huge insights, but one thing that doesn’t add up for me is the idea that we have to eat meat to maintain muscle mass. Protein is made up of amino acids. The amino acids that the meats posses have all come from plants. Therefore, wouldn’t logic bring you to the conclusion that you can just eat a plant based diet with the correct combination of amino acids and be just as healthy? Or maybe even healthier, because meat is difficult to digest and produces a high amount of uric acid in your digestive tract.
If the issue is protein and weight lifting themselves, what she’s talking about can also be achieved with a plant based or predominately plant based diet. Both, Jacked omnivores and jacked vegans eat plenty of protein, and people in both camps use creatine and some are open to admit they also take roids. As she said at minute 26:44

I eat a big breakfast of beef, eggs, bacon and water and go to work. Later I would look at the time and it was 2pm I had not been hungry since I ate at 5am. Wow! I couldn't believe this, I could never go more than a couple hours without eating. My energy level went through the roof. I am able to stay focused on a task, something I have struggled with since my teens. I developed arthritis in my left knee after having surgery for a torn maniscus. It deterorated to bone on bone and became unbearable to walk on at times. I have wanted to have a knee replacement but they kept telling me I was too young and did injections (lasted 1 1/2 weeks with bad side effects) today having been on the Carnivor diet for a while now my arthritis pain is gone and I am climbing trees like I did in my early 20s. My energy level is constant the entire day. Despite my high level of physical work I am not sore. I crave physical activity more than I ever have in my life. I am absolutely ripped despite not having been to a gym in years. I am dusting off my weights and getting back into lifting now. I sleep like a rock and awake fully reasted and ready to go. I haven't felt this good since I was a young kid just eating what we sustainably raised on our family farm. Folks finding your proper diet should be the most important priority in your life. Without your health nothing else matters. When you do you will be able to truly do great the great things you were meant to do. Ed your videos and podcasts have helped me tremendously over the years and appreciate you for sharing your time. I look forward to reading Dr. Lyon's book. I am so glad you have her as your doctor. I pray my story will help others. May God Bless.

I was exclusively whole food plant based up until a month ago. I introduced sardines for the D3 and Omega profile. Just added organic tofu (while I was listening to your talk🙂to my oat groat and berry BeFast! Thank you for the clarity on this important issue.👌 I will be ordering my organic turkey this year and intoducing clean meats in the proper serving size. I have always been mindful of my FIBER intake. I will contiune to track my results. With the addition of animal protein and increased weight work (currently just 5-7 pounds and 3 sessions of 20 reps) maybe twice a week. Am increasing my weight workouts to 3 times a week and 10 sets of 10 reps and adding rooking to my hike. I do Pilates 5 times a week💪. It's more than a walk but I totally get your advice and oberservations! Am buying Dr. Lyon's book today! Thank you both for this LIFE CHANGER! It was a fantastic episode. I coach clients un a lot of the areas they were talking about and it's great to hear that reinforced. Only thing I didn't like was when they laughed at people who walk for exercise. Walking is a great form of exercise
Unless you’re age 65+ or 80+ pounds overweight no it’s not…even if you’re in those age groups only resistance training will improve your overall quality life more than only walking
I was in a cycling accident in early summer. Because I have been strength training, I believe it helped me to heal and recover better and faster than I had ever dreamed possible.

Great info! I love the research she has done on the necessity of skeletal muscle. I believe in super food, whole food nutrition for sure. :) Plus, exercise!! 😄
I personally barely eat animal products because I feel better not eating them, but it's not good to replace them with anything but super food, whole plant foods. (Like sprouts, tonnes of greens, chia, hemp, etc.). I feed my kids and hubby high quality animal products (like grass fed beef), though, to make sure they get the nutrition they need, because they don't load up on as much plant super foods as I do. Thank you Ed!

Being part of a HRT clinic, we see the stigma as such a big thing to break through. Education is key for people to understand the benefit of what we do. Love it great conversation and information. Definitely increasing my strength training and as I’m allergic to lots of veggies (it’s really sad) will focus on more non-processed meats into my diet.
For the next conversation, Can you ask her about the estrogen side of things? Both estrogen and testosterone are decreasing naturally as we age but estrogen replacement, IMO, isn’t being talked about and or receives more negativity then testosterone.

The podcast is interesting, but I must say that cultures with the highest life expectancy are generally not extremely muscular. For example, I wouldn't say that Japanese people do a lot of weightlifting, but they are very active and eat foods that are great for the gut microbiome. I would consider walking exercise =).

Very interesting! However, as a pescatarian who is mainly a vegetarian, I will NOT be going back to meat. I do keep up with my protein intake. After this though I will be upping my strength training.

This was an excellent “wake up call” to start consuming more red meat & to focus on strength training- I’ve know for a while in my gut this was the answer to feeling better
My only concern is that I have lost all my molars on the bottom. I am planning on getting a “4 in 1” replacement of the whole bottom set. But in the meantime I have cut back on anything that requires chewing & eating most soft foods. And I’m only 55! So I’m gonna turn this around today

We have great test for cardio such as v02 max, also good metrics for testing fat mass and knowing how much is healthy. People in the know can agree that a healthy muscle is both strong and big. The question is what are the best exercises to make strong and big muscles. When that question is answered We will be able to find a suitable test to measure healthy muscle mass.
What is skeletal muscle as opposed to other muscle?
yeah, she doesn't have to say "skeletal muscle." everyone knows what we're talking about when we say "muscle." but technically there are 3 types: skeletal, smooth & cardiac.

So true. My wife walks around the house all day everyday, and for sure her calves are more solid than my who works out 3-4x a week.

Great discussion with huge insights, but one thing that doesn’t add up for me is the idea that we have to eat meat to maintain muscle mass. Protein is made up of amino acids. The amino acids that the meats posses have all come from plants. Therefore, wouldn’t logic bring you to the conclusion that you can just eat a plant based diet with the correct combination of amino acids and be just as healthy? Or maybe even healthier, because meat is difficult to digest and produces a high amount of uric acid in your digestive tract.

If the issue is protein and weight lifting themselves, what she’s talking about can also be achieved with a plant based or predominately plant based diet. Both, Jacked omnivores and jacked vegans eat plenty of protein, and people in both camps use creatine and some are open to admit they also take roids. As she said at minute 26:44
