I believe psych meds are an option and not forced to qualify for a rating. The same as not being forced into a surgery that might help a physical illness, one should still be able to be rated without a surgery. I think meds just support a continuous diagnosis because you have to have to be current in a diagnosis to be able to refil a prescription for a physical illness. The same should be for psych meds. I think a current continued diagnosis that gets revisited on periodic health care visits are what supports the rating for any condition. Meds would be secondary aids to alleviate symtoms. I could be wrong but it would be good to see it in writing that meds are forced to keep a rating.

I believe regarding the mental health and medication topic, you are correct. The eCFR does not explicitly talk about medication for mental health ratings but in a way they go hand in hand if you are going through treatment with the VA or medical provider. Meds are not a requirement but it tends to be part of the whole treatment process when seeking mental health treatments. Unless the veteran has opted out from meds and also dependent on their severity. Thanks for the comment!
