    I.used S-Curl as my leave-in, then Carefree Curl Activator Gold. The pair keeps my hair hydrated all winter long.

    @southernrosetiadee 2 роки тому +47

    S Curl activator is great when you live somewhere humid or or if you use a humidifier in your home. The glycerin in the spray is a great humectant. I’m considering using this over the summer since I live in the US South and the humidity is HIGH!

      So will it protect against shrinkage or does it bring more moisture to your hair?

    • @southernrosetiadee
      @southernrosetiadee 2 роки тому +3

      @@sable7114 humectants attract water, so it would amplify shrinkage (more moisture = more shrinkage).

      @@southernrosetiadee it depends on your hair. The more moisturized my hair, the more it elongates. I have 4a hair.

    • @southernrosetiadee
      @southernrosetiadee 2 роки тому +4

      @@apara2005 humectants are not used in preserving elongated hairstyles. This is why people who have heat or tension straightened hair are encouraged to keep their hair as dry as possible between shampoos. The action you’re speaking of is the same with all hair, until the moisture begins to evaporate, which is what happens with humectants. They attract water then, when they’ve absorbed as much water as possible, the evaporation and shrinkage follow. It’s not the initial attraction of moisture that creates shrinkage but the unavoidable evaporation that follows it.

    • @DanniBby
      @DanniBby 7 місяців тому +1

      @@southernrosetiadeethat’s the same as saying that wetting your hair will make it shrink which is not the case.. everyone’s curls loosen when wet, the texture of the hair tightens when the water dries and evaporates just like you said how it happens when the hair dries but not while it’s moisturized. It’s different for someone who has straightened hair then wetting it would get the curls to come back but doesn’t mean it would shrink it

    I love this as a hair Spritz! Iit’s full of glycerine, it works well where I live with a 70% humidity in the air🙏🏾❤️ … wouldn’t advise it for a braid out since it just asorbs a lot of water and will probably make the braid out poof up in no time❤️❤️🥰🥰

    The leave in activator you used is supposed to be be used in the shower on soaking wet hair and then you apply the blue gel after you get out of the shower. Then diffuse or air dry. I also think if instead you use Kinky Kurky Come Clean shampoo, then Uncle Funky’s Rich & Funky conditioner for detangling it would turn out differently. Then use the Uncle Funky’s Curly Magic on soaking wet hair in the shower. After your shower apply Mousse Def by The Doux while your hair is still soaking wet. Then diffuse your hair. I hope this helps. Your hair is beautiful 🙏🏽❤️🖤

    I know people who used curl activator on their natural curls even back in the day. I don’t get why people would think curl activator is only for curly perms when they are widely sold although curly perms are no longer that common. I personally prefer activator gel but only certain times of year because it’s so high in glycerin. I used Smooth and Shine activator gel for years on my natural hair and loved it.I think they changed their formula because it stopped working as well for me.

    I think it is your hair porosity that affects the way these products are working. In this video, I can see that the water and products is sitting on top of your hair strands so you probably have low porosity hair. A heating cap for your hair would possibly help with absorption especially during the conditioning process.

    I died every time you lifted your hair so you could see/we could see your eyes. Curlies can relate.
    Just went natural again a few months ago. Last relaxer was probably at least a year ago. Had trouble maintaining due to health issues, so my hair matted. I put it up in braids and washing it made it mat more. Worried I wouldn’t be able to maintain natural hair, but when I cut off the matted hair, the new growth was clean and not matted. I had 6” on one side and 10” on the other. It’s been surprisingly easy to detangle. I watched natural wash day videos and couldn’t imagine a comb going through my natural hair that easily.
    I had no idea it would coil and clump so beautifully (I’m mixed and have every texture from 1 to 4z, the straight ones tangle the coils, didn’t think I had enough of any one curl type to clump). Im so happy with how easy it’s been to style and refresh daily. I have one rough patch in the middle of the back that I haven’t been able to get definition in when dry. I just keep trying different products there, including this same S-Curl. I look forward to your next wash day video.

    As soon as I saw your video...I went wow! Your hair is beautiful!! I never had a Jerry curl, and I did not put one in my girls (35 & 36...March & April 36 & 37) hair. You know I got a story... When I was in the army (Alaska), I was the only girl in the hanger (aviation unit) for a year or so. Soon following, a girl came (black)...wait for it... wait for it... She had a Jerry curl. Lol... 😂😂 (remembering the situation) OK... Sorry! Well, we would be in formation in the hanger, and all the men were white and we were two black girls. I don't know what she had in her hair (you said s curl don't drip), but it would always be dripping down on her uniform in formation. I can't tell you how embarrassing this was for me. But not for her (because she never changed anything)... A few of the guys would look at me when she first got there... (don't look at me). Anyway, everybody got used to her dripping hair. I had relaxed hair...thank you. But I can't talk...this guy would give me a ride to the hanger and always complain about my loud perfume...rolling down his window. He would be mad! He was from the Ozarks (something like this). Did I complain when he ate all his food with his fingers...no I did not. Priceless... Y'all should have seen the faces looking at him eat with his fingers everyday in the mess hall. If he was from Africa or an island, no one would have cared. But, he was white from the good old USA. So, I said all this to say you have soft hair. I have 4c hair that fraims my face (it's soft), but the middle back hair is 4c and is hard. It's tempting to try because your hair looks amazing. I actually liked it better fully dry. Great job...

      Do you mean it takes a bit for water to soak your hair or that it is normally dry? You may have low porosity hair like mine. Using warm water will help open up the hair to allow it to soak. And what do you currently use as products? 😁

      @@smiittywags7871 A lot of us have jacked up hair (mixed or not...meaning different textures). I have a few 3C pattern hair right at the very top of my head (drives me nuts). I'm fully black with an equal pattern of 4C & 4B and a little of 4A. May will be 3 years, I'm used to it. You even learn a few tricks so that all the patterns get alone. I use no heat...none (not even for conditioning my hair). I understand you not wanting that afro look. I'm fully black but come from a black and white family, so I get it. I wonder if this is why some guys & girls keep their hair pulled back so it won't be an afro? There maybe a product out there that you will come across, but in the end...we all have to accept that our hair is what it is. I've seen at least 4 biracial guys that outside appearance was totally white with totally black hair. Three of the guys young and the other was a mature guy (40's), and they all had their haircut close to their head. Good luck, and thanks for sharing your side of things.
