Normally you’re sitting slightly turned to your left and support the bigger side with the keys (or some people prefer to support it more under the bellow) and the bass side is completely free to move and only hold by your left hand. Or you could play standing up like Rob no problem, he should just have put on the other strap over the other shoulder and it would perfectly stay up even without holding it with your hands.
Down here in Brazil, most accordion players play standing up as well; there's a whole musical culture around it, following the footsteps of the late great Luiz Gonzaga.

Hey, Rob. Enjoyed the video!!! I know you're curious about a bunch of instruments, so I figured I'd let you know a bit more about the accordion. I studied it for about 10 years when I was a kid and have two here at home, though I don't play them very often anymore. Anyway, the accordion was designed in a way where one person could be like a one-man-band. You already understand the right hand, set up like a piano and used for a treble-range of notes. The left side is buttons and is designed for bass notes/chords. If you feel the buttons in the second row (the row for root notes of chords), about halfway down will be one that feels different, either by having an indentation, or it sticks out more. Either way, that is the root note for a C chord. The entire layout is based on fifths, so staying on the second row heading up, above the C is a G, then D, A, E, B, F#, and so on. Going down the row is the opposite of fifths, or fourths, so the next one down from C is F (C being the fifth of F), then Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, etc. Now that you have the second row figured out, the rest follows the same pattern: The row above the root note is the major 3rd note (so above C, as an example, is E. Above G is B). The first row below the root note is the major *chord*. Below that is the minor chord, follow by the seventh chord (major chord w/ minor 7, so C7, G7, etc.) followed by the diminished chord. One other thing... I noticed you mashed on the keys on the treble side while pushing the accordion closed. On the side of the accordion by the strap near the top of the instrument will be one extra button. This one doesn't make any sounds like the rest of them do. This one just opens up an airway to push all the air out so you can close it without making notes. There are other buttons and stuff that help you change the tambre of the notes on each side as well, but that's probably enough for a super-quick introduction. I hope you found that interesting. :)

Rob Scallon, Ayla Tesler-Mabe, and Jessica Burdeaux are all huge inspirations to me. I’ve been a fan of them all for a long while and they never cease to amaze me. Just wanted to give a big thanks to them for just existing while I am.
As I stated in another one of your videos, while I have no musical talents, for fun, I began buying musical instruments at flea markets for real cheap, beginning in the 1980s. All were in perfect working condition and none were sold for more than $50.00. A large German accordion, two saxophones, ( a tenor & an alto) a silver flute, a ebony clarinet, bongos, and that Vietnamese peculiar bamboo flute-thingie. I used to know the name of it, and on You Tube, I found someone, who plays one exclusively. It is quite primitive, made of bamboo tubes/stalks, combined with a small hollow coconut, and some bees wax to seal all the juncture points. I love all your videos.
How do I not feel really defeated with this. I can’t play a full song in my guitar and they make music with a damn kitchen appliance! Ouch!! Soooo fun to watch!!! Great musicians and creative minds.
Avant guard musician Frank Zappa, played a bicycle on live TV back in the 1960s or 70s. It has lots of possibilities,.....the spokes can be manipulated in a lot of ways. Less so, for the frame. It was pretty neat.

Perfect guys. Great job and very creative. What you called "tabouli"(???!!) is actually a baglamas!!! A typical greek instrument. Part of our Greek tradition. Take care and keep on being creative. nL
God, the first song reminded me of "outer wilds" so much. I had a smile on my face as rob played the chords on the accordion. And i had the urge to burn a marshmellow...

These people bring so much incredible creativity, positive energy and talent, I just can't even! I laughed so much while being amazed by how good the songs actually were. I would consistently watch this as a series. No joke.
I like everything about this man, lovely talented people, creativity bursting everywhere, an entire experience.
Rob just picked up a metal bowl and instantly dropped a fire beat. Like, he was born for this stuff
Rob Scallon, Ayla Tesler-Mabe, and Jessica Burdeaux are all huge inspirations to me. I’ve been a fan of them all for a long while and they never cease to amaze me. Just wanted to give a big thanks to them for just existing while I am.
The Athletic Cinema Enthusiasts Foundation is my favorite band ever.
What a great idea! As others have said, the possibilities are endless. And could warrant an entire series.
I wasn't expecting Ayla and it made my day better 😁
Rob is insanely talented for creating music with literally anything that comes in his way, that's awesome!
Now, this is the prime Rob Scallon content we all wait for :) These songs are dooope
I was so happy when you spun vibraphone.
I did vibraphone for marching season last year, and I’m super happy to see you actually try it out.
I just love the energy and talent in these! So fun yet such high quality music and entertainment
What I like most about a video about music is to see people having fun making music.
Okay that Lowkey sounded Killer!
Hey same name!
Your music producer is always just amazing. They can make anything sound amazing
Loved this!😂
This could be an entire series, great concept !
More crazy instruments, guests, etc !
Wasn't in a great mood before I watched this. Now, I'm feeling a lot more cheerful about life. Thank you Rob and crew!
That vibraphone is really the cherry on top
Seriously, you guys are so talented
Can we say that we just saw the best video on the Internet ?? The creativty and the adaptability of Rob is just amazing !! Shout out to the team of course, we NEED more episodes of this for sure.
Biking to The Movies is my new favorite of 2022
Perfect guys. Great job and very creative. What you called "tabouli"(???!!) is actually a baglamas!!! A typical greek instrument. Part of our Greek tradition. Take care and keep on being creative. nL
The xylo/vibraphone mix-up hurt me in my core... it's a good thing I love you, Rob
God, the first song reminded me of "outer wilds" so much. I had a smile on my face as rob played the chords on the accordion. And i had the urge to burn a marshmellow...
Real musicians can play and make a song with any instrument and talk out and figure out the chords and notes on it as well rob is a true musician and a talent
Rob, you're a damn multi-talent genious, but her drumming speaks to my very soul! I loooooooove it!
Biking to the Movies is a literal masterpiece.
Oh how badly I want "The entire city of Chicago" to be a real bandname.
It is now
"Chicago" is already a band name, so this is just the logical next step.
These people bring so much incredible creativity, positive energy and talent, I just can't even! I laughed so much while being amazed by how good the songs actually were. My favourite is probably the second one, that just blew my mind.
Also if Ayla and Rob made an actual instrumental jam together that would be a dream come true.
Rob you have been KILLING it lately. Keep it up man! Also, love seeing Jessica in your videos, she's awesome!
My Personal Favourite is Biking to the movies! It honestly sounds incredible.
