- In this video I show how to get tidy mitered corners when you're using double-fold bias tape. There's a companion blog post at www.shinyhappyworld.com/2012/... with more info, a link to a video showing how to make your own double-fold tape, and some patterns (including a free one) you can use to practice.

The best mitered bias tape tutorial ever!!!! Thank you.
THANK YOU WENDY!!! So simple! I've been racking my brain with this technique! Thinking it qas more complicated than it actually is! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Who needs some sewing handbook when there are people like Wendy to show you the tricks. I'm a visual learner, so this was fantastic and so easy. Thank you for posting this video.
THANKYOU!
YOUR VIDEO WAS VERY SHORT & SIMPLE AND SHOWED ME VERY QUICK HOW TO DO THE CORNERS. ✂️💚✂️
I wish the sample had been done with solids, but this video was exactly what I needed to learn.
I just did a quilt binding with this method yesterday and then found your video! I am glad someone else does it this way! Of all the quilts and table runners I've made, last night's finished project turned out the nicest.
thorough, straight to the point, detailed explanations, great contrast in color between the bias tape and fabric; i wish more tutorials were more like yours
I've seen tutorials for a few different ways, but this one sprang from the way I bind my quilts and I get the easiest, most-consistent results with it. I'm glad you liked it!
This was just what I was looking for! As a novice sewer I learn so much from these tutorials.
Thanks xo
Thank you!!! I am a novice at sewing and have watched several videos on attaching a binding, but I have found this one to be the easiest to follow.
I just found your wonderful video after sifting through way too many others that made this process so complicated. I just wanted a quick and easy way to finish off a fidget quilt I'm making for my father-in-law who has Alzheimer's, and this will work perfectly! Thank you for simplifying the process!!
Thanks so much Wendi! I’ve been looking for a tutorial like this forever!
Thank you for this tutorial! I had picked up sewing again after so long of not making my own things again and I forgot how to make clean corners this was so helpful.
Wow. I think I love you, Wendy! I'll be sharing this video. Thank you a thousand times!
thanks a bunch, this was so easy due to your explanation, I really needed this to finish a gift. 😊
Thanks for the tutorial. This is exactly the information I needed. I watched several others but none were so directly related to what I needed.
You are always such a big help! Thank you for all your videos! Peggy in KY
Thanks so much for this tutorial! It made all the difference! I had it partly right but wasn't taking the needle out of the material, and with this, it looked great!
Thank you so much. You've made my crafting weekend! So simple and so effective - thank you for sharing your wisdom.
Thank you. I've lost enough things recently without losing my temper. You've saved me losing it. I was seriously contemplating throwing the whole task, machine, binding and all, out the window.
First (and only) video that I understood AND solved my problem! Thank you so much!!
thank you so much!!! I have watched so many videos on how to do this and yours was the only one that helped me. again thank you!!!

Awesome tutorial! Clear, concise, and well presented. Thank you Wendi!
THANK YOU! I've been searching all night for this exact method- easy and pretty :)

thank you so much for your instruction videos. I am in the middle of making my runners for my wedding. until I found your videos i was ready to give up. I basket weaved 2 inch burlap into 3 feet by 8 inch runners and the burlap is coming apart at the edges. It is a little time consuming however its worth it. thanks again
This is what I needed. Thank you for your help. You made it very clear.😀

thank you for this I have tried other methods and so far I haven't managed it so fingers crossed I am going to try this !
Thank you for illustrating this so clearly.
You're welcome. :-)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I was frustrated to the point of tears; I said (well, ok, thought) many bad words; and considered scrapping the entire project. (Inside each project I slipped a small piece of paper that said, I could not have done this without Wendi Gratz.)
Thank you for this tutorial. It helped me a lot.!
Worked beautifully! Thank you!
Thank you for this great to-the-point tutorial.
you just saved my life, thank you. SO easy to understand.
Sounds beautiful. I love burlap!
Another great tutorial. Binge-watching Mz. Gratz.
Thank you.
+julie gunn Thanks so much! :-)
Omg I wish I’d have watched this two times ago! Thanks😘
Thank you! I saw another tutorial which would have me open up the tape and sew then close the tape and saw again. This is much easier.
Better than my sewing beginning book
Just what I am looking for. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for teaching 🥰
Thanks just what I was searching for
Watch the video showing how to bind a quilt - you can see how I start and stop there. UA-cam won't let me put a link here, but you can find it in my Quilting videos.
thank you so so much for this!! its one in the morning and i couldnt remember how to do it ^^"
Kathy, England. Great video making rag rug with my granddaughter need to bias edging very clear
Thank you very much for the tip. I was looking for this a long time ago.
I'm glad it was helpful. :-)
I think if you handle the corners like this it should work. Give it a try and see!
This was very helpful for me. Thank you. :)
Soo easy way ..thanks a lot for sharing ..👌👌🙏🙏
Just what I was looking for thank you
Works perfectly!
Thank you very much for the tutorial!!
Probably - though sometimes a pattern will call for a slightly different technique where you kind of use the bias tape like a tiny little facing.
Great tutorial thank you from U.K
Thank you so much!! So glad I found you ;)
Great tutorial!
Wendy thank you so much!
is there a way to do this with a single fold bias that is used as a flat welt around the outside (think like a pillow flange)?
thanks you so much
I really need this tutorials
thanks. I already cut each of my pieces; now what do I do?
How do you finish it? I can’t find any videos that shows how to completely wrap a rectangle or square and how to finish it with mutter corners.
Super helpful!
How do you do a inverted corner with bias binding?
Thank youuuu!!
Happy to help! By the way - your avatar is ADORABLE. :-)
Wow excellent..thanks madame....
Thanks for a great tutorial, now I know where I kept screwing u,p when I was trying to do it before.
Are you using tape cut on the bias? It's a must when going around curves. I've tried using straight but it just won't lay flat around an armscye. Grrrrr.
Thank you so much for this!!!
justa little hint when sewing your seams if they are straight and along the edge you will have a nicer finished product. Good Luck
Thank you so much!!!!!
I'm so glad it was helpful. :-)
I always start in the middle of a straight edge so I can miter all the corners the same way.
hi windy, Im new at bias tape, I have a small project that Im trying to do.. I have cut out a small piece of quilted fabric for a matters pad for my granddaughters doll cradle. I want to put a bias trim around the hole piece. Question is do I cut off the bias at each corner or is there a trick to turn the corners.. I am using a double fold bias tape. My problem is I afraid that if I just put the bias tape on the edge is that the stitching wont catch the back edge. so should I do the stitch in the ditch too. Im so confused how to start this. I love your video!
I understand now how to do corners but how do I start from the very beginning and how do I finish off at the end? I'm new to sewing and finding it difficult with bias tape. Thank you.
Thank you!
My problem has been, there is 1 side that is a hair longer than the other and to sew and make sure the other side is being caught by the needle is a real bug-a-boo for me. I can’t seem to get the hang of it. Can you show me how to do that properly?????
Have a tunic pattern that calls for the V neck trimmed w/bias. I think this must be how it's done, am I right? I'll practice on scraps instead of tossing pretty fabric again. Made myself beautiful clothes for years but never did this. Yeah, believe it
thank you it worked
I use a little fabric glue in the corner :) depending on the fabric
😍 Thank You❣
very helpful thanks
Happy to help. :-)
what about the last corner?
Thanks Wendi!
Thank you
I'm glad it was helpful. :-)
