People tend to forget when watching that Rose is 17...Jack is about 20, 21...and Cal was in his late 20s early 30s as per the times. She's having so much fun with Jack not only because Jack was so different from the social standards she was used to but because she was able to actually be a teenager and not a woman primed for marriage to save her family.
Yeah, my theory is the reason why rose fell so hard for Jack is because he have her the basic freedom to be herself and she saw who she wanted to be in Jack. She wasn't allowed to be herself before Jack. I also think it drove Cal crazy that for some reason he could buy anything he wants, do anything he wants and get any girl he wants with probably little to no effort because of his social class and his looks but for some reason he can't seem to win over this girl almost half his age. I think eventually it because a game to him to try and win her like she's a trophy to be won and that's why he was so desperate and was ignoring all the hints that she clearly is not interested.
The end always gets me. Seeing all her photos and realizing that Rose lived this fun, vibrant, emotionally rich life - really experiencing all it had to offer, loving, and being true to herself - and that after finally telling her story she passes away as an 'old old lady warm in her bed'. That last scene as her soul travels back to the Titanic and finally being reunited with Jack and everyone who died and they greet her and give her a round of applause--- because she lived the life they could not. She lived for them. I know some people don't like that and question that take because, for instance, wouldn't she return to her husband or kids or whatever but I think this makes more sense. A tragedy like that would define your life and Rose made the promise to 'never let go' ...so while I'm sure she treasured the other people and moments in her life ---- she deserves to spend the afterlife with Jack. Wonderful reaction as always!
@@ahellahulabaloo5500 well jack was rose's true love and she always loved him no matter what and we always end up with our true love even if a tragedy happens to When one's true love is taken from them they will end up together in the afterlife
@@ahellahulabaloo5500 you got me crying from your comment. I didnt think about they not living the life she was able to live. This movie gets me everytime

My grandfather & my grandmother were together for my entire life, but he lost his first wife, whom my grandma was friends with, before I was born. He truly loved her, & came home from working at the mill to find her dead in the bathroom. She had been cleaning & the mixing of chemicals killed her. When he passed away years ago, he was buried next to her, instead of next to my grandma & my grandma said “That was his true love & I know that he loved me, but he never got to finish his life with her.” & that has stayed with me since then. I couldn’t imagine losing my husband like that, & trying to go on loving my life.
@@mistyxmarlboro That's such a wonderful story. Your grandma sounds amazing and wise! To maintain such perspective and clarity about such a tragedy is something I aspire to. I'd like to think this is how it'd be for Rose...her husband/family would know her place would be with Jack. Thanks for sharing!
@@Serenity113 I know that alcohol keeping you warm is a myth. But I think the fact that he was drunk helped him be more relaxed, less stiff and less prone to serious injury. There's studies on it.

People are gonna argue the space on the door forever. Jack could have probably fit, but the problem there, that Jack realized himself, if he got on the door as well the door would sink a bit into the water, he wanted Rose to float completely on top, by herself, not touching the water at all for a higher chance at surviving. If they both stayed on, with partial water on them, there is a higher chance they both might have died. He didn't care about himself. He was only thinking of her safety.
It would also be almost impossible to pull himself onto it, he is freezing, his body would be going into shock and pulling his blood to his organs, making his extremities even colder. I saw this in the cinema at 11 and understood it immediately
@lance9249 No they actually didn't prove that at all lol. They proved they COULDNT both stay out of the water. It's not a matter of space, it's a matter of WEIGHT. Jfc..
That's where I draw the line.. Ya, you're thinking of others but isn't your own life just as important too ? I guess not. I don't wanna see people give their own lives up for others because they choose to shorten there own for their kids.. That's not a good thought.
I love that she passed right over the Titanic sight in her warm bed on that expedition boat and she was reunited with him on the Titanic so they could make their way to heaven together.
8:39 : This is not CG1, they recreated almost to scale one the entire left side of the Titanic to make this shot. That's why these films are timeless and have an exceptional rendering ! It's the kind of thing we don't do anymore and probably never again.
A few things to lend some historical context: 1. By regulation at the time, Titanic actually had MORE lifeboats than required. However, back then, they didn’t view life boats as being used to float the entire passenger load of a ship, they were instead intended only to shuttle survivors to a rescue ship and then return to the sinking ship for more. Obviously, Titanic proved how short-sighted this concept was, and ships were then required to have enough life boat capacity for ALL of its passengers going forward. 2. Thanks to the new lifeboat regulations, including a new launching system that made deployment significantly faster, Titanic’s sister ship Brittanic was able to evacuate its entire passenger load of 1,066 in under half an hour - a fraction of the time it took Titanic to evacuate far fewer passengers. Brittanic’s only fatalities occurred when two lifeboats got sucked into the propellers and chopped to bits, because they were launched before the captain had given the order, and he was trying to run the ship aground so the engines were at full steam. 3. James Cameron regrets depicting Murdoch as shooting passengers and then himself. This never happened, Cameron made it up for the film. Cameron also depicted Bruce Ismay as being partly responsible for the sinking for demanding the ship go faster. There’s no evidence of this, other than a likely misheard conversation reported by a survivor. 4. The sinking scene was well-lit for movie audiences, so we could see what was happening. In real life, once the lights on the ship failed, it would have been nearly pitch black outside with only starlight. 5. The RMS Carpathia, the ship that arrived to rescue Titanic’s survivors, responded to the distress call immediately. Captain Rostron ordered his engines to be run at full steam, and had his crew close dampers to shut off hot water to passenger cabins to ensure that every ounce of steam was providing power to the engines. Carpathia ran faster than it ever had before, or was ever designed to, to reach Titanic. Rostron had his crew prepare to take on survivors long before they even arrived, making as much coffee and hot soup as they could, collecting blankets and warm clothes donated by passengers and preparing them. It nearly collided with an iceberg as well, but they were able to avoid it and slowly make their way through the ice field, at which point Rostron ordered his engines run to full stream again. Carpathia’s passengers accepted Titanic survivors into their rooms and looked after them. Carpathia was sunk by a German U-Boat six years later. 6. Titanic’s third sister ship, Olympic, the first of the three Titan class ships, had an amazing life of its own. It nearly sank after accidentally colliding with the HMS Hawke (whose shipwreck was JUST discovered, by the way), but was repaired using steel from the yet-unfinished Titanic and put back into service. Captain Smith, who was commanding Titanic the night it sank, was also commanding Olympic when it collided with Hawke. Olympic went on to serve in WW1 as a troop transport ship, being adorned with weaponry and camouflage paint. Imagine the Titanic dressed as a warship, and that’s Olympic during WW1. One morning in 1918, Olympic spotted a surfaced U-Boat, and immediately began firing at it while Captain Hayes directed Olympic directly at the U-Boat. The Germans did an emergency dive, but Olympic managed to still hit the sub and cause critical damage to its pressurized hull, sinking it. Reports indicate that the sub was preparing to torpedo Olympic, but didn’t manage to flood their torpedo tubes in time. Later, Olympic was receiving an overhaul and refit. Damage from an un-exploded torpedo was discovered and repaired. Olympic returned to service as an Oceanliner. In 1929, as Olympic passed over the sight of Titanic’s sinking, the ship began to shake and shudder for two minutes. It was later determined that this was caused by an earthquake, but the timing is crazy. In 1934, Olympic crashed with another ship accidentally, completely destroying and sinking it. Olympic was taken out of service in 1935, and was completely dismantled and scrapped by 1937. 7. Aboard all three Titan class ships; Olympic, Titanic and Brittanic, was a woman named Violet Jessop. She was aboard the Olympic when it collided with HMS Hawke, she survived Titanic’s sinking, and she survived Brittanic’s sinking as well, narrowly avoiding death as she bailed from her lifeboat before it was sucked into the propellers. Jessop was an employee of the Royal Mail Service (RMS) and eventually White Star Line. Some years after her retirement in 1950, she claimed to have received a random phone call one night from someone who claimed to be one of the babies that survived Titanic, crediting Jessop with her rescue as Jessop had been handed a baby by Titanic’s officers as she got on a lifeboat. A crying woman took the baby from Jessop on Carpathia, and that was the last Jessop ever saw or heard about the baby until that phone call.
The fact that in the movie we see the sinking but in real life it would have been total darkness is scary, because it is true that once the ship's power went out all that was left was the light of the stars. According to what I read, many of the crew died from electrocution and drowning in order to keep the Titanic's lights working as long as possible, giving people more opportunities to save themselves, otherwise they would have been in total darkness much sooner.
@ I can totally understand it, though. In an era where honor is a big deal, this man walks away from the sinking of one of his ships with 2/3rds of his passengers didn’t. On top of that, he lied a lot during the subsequent hearings. Doesn’t mean his actions were exactly as seen in the film, but I totally understand why people look down on him.
I think you're the first reactor I've seen to think of and point out that Cal's way of showing love is all he's probably known or been taught, which helps humanize his character. Made me think that he probably saw his father be that way with his mother, and probably didn't get a solid example/or didn't know how to be affectionate and show love that way. I think he did love Rose but just didn't know how to express it outside of a materialistic possessive way. Doesn't excuse his behavior but helps understand him better. Great reaction!
Agreed. I don't think he's a monster. Just a product of his times and upbringing. I am not so sure how much he picked Rose as a love match. Seems like she was a good match among the kind of girls his father said were acceptable.
17:10 "Man, she's my favorite, man! Look at her!" The actress is Academy Award winner Kathy Bates, and you might wanna check out her Oscar winning performance in the movie "Misery". ;) Based on a novel by Stephen King.
@@FrankFreezy_ She played a real-life person on the Titanic - She was called "The Unsinkable Molly Brown". She and her husband struck it rich in a mine, but she was scrappy poor girl before that. She really did try to get the boats to help those in the water. She was an activist for women's rights and the poor, and for the French people rebuilding after WWI.
The photos showing her doing all the things they said theyd do gets me everytime. Her riding horses with legs on both sides and having lots of babies and dying an old womwn warm in her bed. Just like he wanted for her 😭😭😭
Not to bring you more pain, but this movie hits different when you watch it again and notice things you didn't notice before. Like the fact that Jack basically foreshadows his death and a lot of the people that will die when the Titianic inevitably sinks. He explains the feeling of the cold "like a thousand knives stabbing you all at once" 😬 He knows as soon as he can't get on the door that he's going to die. You can see the acceptance on his face when it happens. And he knows Rose so well that he knows that after he dies, she will want to follow him in death immediately after, which is why he makes her promise to never let go. Once she realizes Jack is dead, she lies down and is prepared to die until she remembers the promise she made and fights to live. He saved her life multiple times in this film, even after death. And the ending always makes me ball like a baby because it feels like them finding that painting was Jack and the Titanic calling her home. Rose finally was able to die like she wanted to on that door and be with the love of her life.
I went to a museum exhibit when some artifacts were on a tour. At the beginning, you were given a card at random, and at the end, you put the card into a reader that let you know whether you survived or perished. The card I received was a third-class male, so I knew from that moment that I was doomed.
@@FrankFreezy_ Well, you're kind of going there knowing it's a trip steeped in tragedy. Everything you're going to see has at least one life connected to it, that was likely snuffed out. And especially if you're with a group, being able to look at the people with you and knowing whether they made it, really personalized the experience.
I've been to an exhibition like that too! It was powerful. My family stood looking at the wall with all the names for awhile. In high school, we did the Titanic musical. I played a stewardess. Each member of the cast learned about the roles we played, and if it was an unnamed character like mine we were still given the details of someone real who would have fit the role. The person I played didn't survive. I think I cried every time the ship sank. Just couldn't help it.
YEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!! I gotta say, Billy Zane is my favourite performance in this movie. Every move and facial expression of his is on point and balances everything out perfectly.
As an aspiring/amateur actor, I always love seeing an actor deliver the same line of dialogue in a row differently every time; for example, the line “my fiancée” before he flips the table? It’s so amazing how he managed to say it so differently each of those times, it’s the mark of a good actor and I just love whenever I see/hear that in a performance 😊
My husband actually worked on Argo, the real submarine that went to the Titanic & ship from Woods Hole while is was contracted with the Navy. Saw that huge ship & submersible from my kitchen window everyday.
A Titanic survivor who lived in NY next to the ball park said that every time a home run was hit and the crowd roared that it reminded him of the sound of the drowning mass after the great ship sank. Talk about PTSD .
I read this comment once and it is just perfect. The girl that wanted to die and the boy who lived his life to the fullest. He died for her and she lived for him. 💜
This movie is one of my favorites along with twister. The entire thing is a masterpiece, If you notice, jacks note says make it count meet me at the clock. Rose made her life count and then she met him at the clock at the ending. 😢❤

Sir, you honored the real men and women that have been dying at Titanic Desaster, by watching more than three hours this movie and many true Storys of the victims. Thank you. Good vibes from Germany 👋
I got major respect for the crew of this movie. They rebuilt 80% of the ship for the film along with amazing models and miniature sets all seamlessly used in the movie the dedication and attention to detail is incredible
The ethereal singing and vocal work isn't Celine, she was the 'radio' version voice for the My Heart Will Go On and often gets the credit for the singing in this movie. It was done by Norwegian crossover genre soprano Sissel Kyrkjebø. She has sung in fifteen different languages, and does NOT get the credit she deserves for the iconic work she did in Titanic.
My favourite film of all time. I’m always so happy when people notice that Jack actually tried to get on the doorframe but knew it would have sunk with both of them on it. Bruce Ismay always gets a bad reputation but he was only really there as a passenger and would have no say in increasing the speed. He helped load people into lifeboats and only got into one at the last second when there was nobody else around to get in. Justice for Ismay! The music of this film is incredible. RIP James Horner
Something I find really sad is the ship might've survived a head on collision, but the way the iceberg scraped along the side of the ship made it Impossible. This means not only would they have had a better chance if they'd seen the iceberg earlier, they would've had a better chance if they didnt see it at all.
There’s no way they would’ve done that. There were a couple of hundred workers’ sleeping quarters at the front of the shop, Murdoch would have to knowingly sacrifice them if he were to ram into the iceberg head on. Besides that, what actually transpired was extremely unpredictable. I’m sure they wouldn’t have imagined it would tear such a long hole in the ship.
I saw this in the theater like 6 or 7 times… Everyone (my girlfriend at the time, my friends, my parents, grandparents) wanted to see it multiple times, it’s such an experience.
This movie made me cry my eyes out. It was put together perfectly. The music all of it. The character of rose she was beautiful and almost identical to the real rose. This was amazing. I cried again Watching it on this lol. It's been years. Wow truly amazing

Oh my goodness thank you. I've heard my voice being complimented before but this is the first time someone said something about my children enjoying the sound of it and that melted my heart. I appreciate you. Many more of this commentary coming your way soon. Thanks for being awesome 💜💜😊😊
Everyone's freaking out about whether or not Jack could've fit on the door with Rose, meanwhile, I'm annoyed because he probably would've survived if she'd stayed on the lifeboat the second time.
@greendiamondglow yet they were not real. So much focus on fictional characters. Yet the hundreds of people that died are dismissed because of actors portrayed as Jack and Rose.
43:14; always felt bad for how Ismay is treated in this movie. The real J. Bruce Ismay encouraged so many people to get into lifeboats and even had a panic attack at one point because he was concerned the lifeboats weren't being lowered fast enough to keep them safe. The bs about him being all "but what about the headlines captain?" or "we need to speed up right now!" is loosely based off the unreliable testimony of one singular woman who was sitting a table or two away. Cameron really messed up on that. His reputation was destroyed by Titanic because he had a rivalry with the owner of the Yellow Pages, who completely slandered his image and made up stuff about him. The poor dude went on to live a life of solitude and quietness until he died in 1936.
Heya :) Just a couple of things; Bruce Ismay, the owner of Titanic didn't pressure Captain Smith to act dangerously to go as fast as they could. Eye witness accounts prove that not all of Titanic's boilers were lit at the time of the sinking - boiler room 1's boilers were all offline. Bruce Ismay had a nemesis who owned newspapers in America and following the sinking, Ismay was slandered and stories made up making him the villain of the tragedy. In fact, Ismay spent a vast majority of the sinking helping people into lifeboats, including my relative, Evelyn Marsden, who was a stewardess and nurse on the ship. Without his insistence, she would have gone down with the ship. Captain Smith was ultimately in charge, though his orders were standard for the time. The faster you steamed into danger, the faster you were out of danger. Titanic was very capable when it came to steering. She and her sister Olympic surpassed expectations during their sea trials. In 2017, the US Navy reported that their new nuclear submarines were going to have video game controllers to control their weapons systems, and that older subs in the class would be retrofitted to use the same controllers - the same controllers they used in the Titan submersible that imploded last year. The USN decided to use them as they were easier and more intuitive to use than the larger panel controllers that had been in use, not to mention for $20 they could do the same thing as the original control panel that cost $20,000. It's proven technology and easy to replace if there is a problem.
Fun fact: James Cameron used original photos and blueprints and built 80% of the full-size ship as a set. Even the interiors were built to full-scale. Especially the grand staircase and the first class dining room.
When the shipwreck transitions to the ship as it was, it transitions to a live set. They built a replica of the exterior of the ship and multiple interiors.
only a few minutes in but i really like what you said at 6:36 i think a lot of reactors that know certain plot points in film/tv have the sort of energy that makes it feel like i could just be watching this on my own. you can still appreciate a film that you may have spoilers for if you're not strictly focused on when the parts you know are coming. it doesn't always have to be a total spoiler free watch for a reactor as long as they're actually paying attention to the rest of the film. sorry for the rambling! i just really liked the point you made about the little things because those are usually what i love the most in film. it's not always about the intense moments, but the human moments mixed in. you're always so articulate when you react and it keeps me coming back every time.
You are not rambling at all my friend. I totally understand and love that you appreciate that as well. Watching this movie literally elevated my soul in a lot of ways. Yes I knew some of the big moments from pop culture, but the way everything was stitched together, the characters, learning about their motivations. man that s*** was good
@@FrankFreezy_absolutely! i also think sometimes when real life tragedy happens it becomes easier for people over time to become sort of desensitized to it. they can lose their significance and become somewhat of a pop culture reference. frankly it's a bit terrifying that it can and does happen. but films like Titanic or just as another example All Quiet on the Western Front, bring us back with a shock of emotional electricity if you will. the people feel real to you, the terror feels real, the devastation feels real. the humanity. Titanic is a classic for the rest of time and you're absolutely right.. man that s*** is good! much love, bro!
What arrogance or ignoring warnings? Smith did what any other captains at the time did. He got warnings, but none of them had icebergs in their direct path. Two warnings regarding the exact icefield Titanic encountered didn't reach the bridge. It was standard practice to maintain speed until they actually saw ice.
The actual passengers on the Titanic were actually hesitant to get in the lifeboats. Most believed their ship wouldn't sink and they'd just be returning to the ship eventually. They were also afraid to get into the relatively tiny lifeboats out in the deep ocean. It was the Titanic’s rapid descent in her final 15 minutes that caught so many passengers off-guard. Its slow listing had not even been noticeable to some. It had created false security.
You: I'm getting goosebumps Me: it's not only the beautiful love story between Rose and Jack but it's also the beautiful Deep chemistry between the two actors Leo and Kate
Man, I really love that you don't try to play down what you know from pop culture & instead focus on the connective tissue that make the big moments work. Really refreshing to have a reactor who is not only no bs but also actually doing casual yet layered off the dome (like acknowledging all the stuff behind Rose's attempt on her life at the beginning). I came for the vampires being interviewed but I think I'll stay for a longer haul 🌹👏
That’s love🧡 makes me happy to hear that my style and approach resonates. These movies and shows are fun but they also carry heavy messages that I think should be approached with care and respect. Thanks for being here and for voicing it😊🙏🏾
It sucks that not only Murdoch was given a bad name because of this movie, but Ismays name as well. In reality he was much different than how he’s portrayed
Fun fact most of the underwater clips with the submarines are real. Including the research ship they're filming on. They used most of the crew of the ship as extras in the background and filmed on top of the Akademik Mstislav Keldysh. They even use the name Keldysh and Mir 1 and 2 (submarines) in the film by name. Sign of respect you can say not changing the names of the ship of submarines used in the film.
My daughter was the Arizona recipient of the 2023 Horatio Algier scholarship and was lucky enough to go to the National Convention in D.C. this year. She had ZERO clue what all it entailed tbh but when she got to the 1st even lt on day 1 where they met with 1 of the 6 mentors being inducted on the last day and whom they would spend the 3 days learning from hers was non other than Bob Ballard, the man who discovered the ghost of Titanic in 1985 🤯 Knowing how obsessed with ALL things Titanic I am she asked of she would take a picture to send to me, this amazing man said "get mom on the phone!! I want to know does she REALLY know Titanic?!?" (With a huge laugh and sweet smile ofc) 😂 ❤ Needless to say I actually impressed him by knowing more about HIM than the ship herself but we talked 3 times throught the 4 days and he has since messaged my daughter numerous times to check on her including today actually b/c it was her 1st day of college. He's a incredible man! Thankful that b/c of him we actually have footage that made this movie the level of epic it will always be!!
49:49; ironically this was not his last swig. This was the ship's baker Charles Joughlin who plunged into the sea and survived by being drunk as hell. He lived until 1956.
I've never had any desire or interest to go deep sea exploring, including the Titanic wreck, but if I **had** to go, it would be in a submersible that was approved by James Cameron, and I'd like it for him to be on board with me.
4 things made the berg harder to spot: 1) during a shake up of the officers the keys to the cabinet with the binocular got lost or msiplaced. 2) the sea that fateful night was like glass with no waves to break at the base of the berg. 3) without a moon the crow's nest was essentially staring into near darkness. 4) (some debate on this one) the berg may have toppled over in the water as it melted. That makes it a blue berg or black berg, with clear, dark ice on top. Side note: while the Titanic was enormous, it was dwarfed by the iceberg if you take the underwater portion into consideration.
Unfortunately if Jack had managed to get onto the door, their combined weight would've shoved it under the water. Rose only survived because it was just enough to keep her out. She was freezing, yes, but she was dry when she dove back into the water for the whistle. It's the only reason she lived at all. When Jack nodded his head, it was him accepting that he was not going to make it.
Actually I know you are watching the movie but the movie has 2 major points that 1. Ismay never ask for the Titanic to go at full speed because he wanted to get recognition, is a rumor made because when something like a big tragedy happens people want someone to blame. And he lived because he was near the botes making sure everyone got in and when he didn't saw anyone else near by so he finally step in and was a very empty bote, actually the botes could carry up to 65 people but because of fear they didn't fill them no even half 😅 2. The titanic was very advanced for its time so is not the same case as the submersible. They give the ship an 1h to sink but actually last 2 and 40m so she did incredible. 3. Murdoch was no the one who shot people or suicide was other but they don't know his name and the family actually dislike how they portray him. 4. Even if they had enough botes, they couldn't have used them all in time. 5. In a emergency situation like this ships nearby can come and "pick you up" so I blame the person who was in charge of the messages, he recieve messages from a ship near the Titanic warming them that there were a iceberg really big nearby, but that guy prefer continue with the easy job and he got tired of receiving the same message so he sent them one that was rude so the other ship decided to turn off the machine so they couldn't be contacted in case of emergencies.
thing is the piece of wood that Rose was on didn't support both of their weight when he tried to get on it the thing flipped .. so no he couldn't also be on it
36:22 Fun fact about titanics water tight doors, when the doors are nearly to the bottom of the floor and are about to close, they’d drop straight down like a free fall to create that watertight seal, so that man there would’ve been in a lot of trouble.
I re watched this movie while my 5 year old was sleeping. She woke up at the end of the movie while I was kim kardashian ugly crying and ran off concerned yelling "mommy's crying mommy's crying" lmaooo 😩😅😅
Fun fact about titanic, Charles Lightoller the second officer on titanics port side called "Women and Children first" so no men could have got on boats on the port when there was room for them but on the starboard side William Murdoch was letting men on, but he did "Women and children first" so that means when there were empty seats with men, they would let them in. And another fun fact about lightoller was that he was on overturn collapsible B and on that boat was 28 men no women and one of those men was charles joughin who was drunk during the sinking
I saw all the art work in the background and was wondering if you were an artist. I found your link in the description and clicked it and OMG I can't get over how one of your paintings favor my uncle who just passed away. Very nice work. OAN this movie never fails to make me cry
My best friend and I took our girlfriends to see Titanic in high school...The night before we went on a CRUISE. Suffice to say we paid very close attention to the emergency drills. YEP, can't make that up. And when you see Jack's drawings and hands, it's actually the director James Cameron's. Pretty interesting... I don't care who you are this is amazing knowing the ending.
Hey F, Sorry I havent been able to comment much at all lately, but always here to support. Hey Gus. Brilliant Film, the Titanic footage at the beginning is Cameron’s actual footage from his 33 dives down to see and study it. Fascinating. Cameron also did the drawing of Rose, its his hands u see drawing her. Cameron is a jack of all trades. Heartbreaking and terrifying. Thanx so much, say Hey to the wifey, take care, Peace
Every time I see the scene where Rose is lowered in the lifeboat, I start to cry. At the end, you see that Rose did everything that Jack had promised her they'd do together. He gave her the inspiration to live life the way she wanted instead of following what others expected from her.
“It is me dear, wasn't I a DISH??” Oh I love it!! Probably my favorite line in the entire movie!!!! And, YES, I 100% agree Rose/Kate Winslet was indeed one hell of a DISH. Period. I was in junior high when this movie came out. My best friend and I saw it no less than 4 TIMES in the drive thru movie theater. Still have all the ticket stubs. Been in love with Leo ever since. No shame. Don't want to take away the seriousness of it, tho. My god, when the band plays their last song not sure how anyone could hear/see that without feeling something. Just in case, no one told you yet… that is a TRUE story. They played until the very end and all went down with the ship The older couple on the bed was also real couple. Their names were Isidor and Ida Strauss. They were one of the richest couples on board. Ida, gave her spot to her young maid. Isidor was offered a spot but, refused and was disgusted they offered him one at all surrounded by so many woman and youth all around. Sorry so long man PS. I have a orange kitty, too!!!! Her name is Persimmon. My others name is Papaya which she looks nothing like but, I still stuck with the theme
The line "Wasn't I a DISH?" can actually be credited to Gloria Stuart (Old Rose). According to the DVD commentary, the original line was supposed to be "Wasn't I a hot number?" But Gloria Stuart, born in 1910, said that's not how people would've spoken back then. So she suggested the change. I was in 11th grade when this came out, and the year-long hype surrounding the movie is absolutely unforgettable and nostalgic.
@@rheap3802 sad thing about the real band i learned about today - after the shipwreck, instead of at least some nice words, the company that had booked the band sent their families a bill for the suits they'd worn

52:41 almost 30 years debating about that 😂😂😂😂 by the way, when this came out I was 14, I watched it 3 times in the theater and countless times on VHS , tv and platforms, but you saw so many details that I never caught 👏🏻 that’s why I love watching your reactions, you always add interesting perspectives ❤
I'm so glad you loved this beautiful, special, wonderful, heartbreaking film. Jack is such a calm and resourceful young man during the sinking and I love how he shows Rose that she can be independent in life. It's just a story that stays in your heart forever.
I’ve loved this film since it came out, but I was 10yrs old at the time. I was very much swept up in the spectacle and romance of it all, and Leo was a big crush of mine as well. But viewing this as adult hit in a COMPLETELY different way! I’d come across other videos that showed how much detail Cameron put into this film. Incorporating not just real people in the story but also actual documented occurrences! One example being the woman sitting behind the owner and the captain as he urged him to go faster for headlines, specifically the line “must make headlines!” This is from one of the many court transcripts of an actual survivors testimony in the following lawsuits. You wouldn’t notice if no one told you, but Cameron does that! Incredible! Also the emotional impact was so much deeper for the passengers left to die in the lower levels! I’d never noticed when I was younger the scared and confused (Arabic?) family trying to translate the signs! Absolutely devastating! The commitment of the band to do what they loved, putting music into the world until the very end?? Smh this is truly a special movie very deserving of all the flowers it gets! Another great reaction sir!
If you put a cat-chair on your videos, we will have two handsome men to watch! ; ) Watching Titanic in cinema when it came out was very impressive visually, but being older now i can appreciate Rose's point of view of the whole thing much more.
haha you're awesome😊😊💜💜 I will definitely consider putting him up here with me Thanks for expressing how different you view rose's perspective now. I'm happy for all the decisions she made in this film. Even the crazy risky ones
Ive seen this movie so many times.. for what ever reason as I'm watching this I randomly got the thought that had she just stayed on that little boat and did not jump back onto the ship there would have been room on that door hahaha
Really enjoyed seeing your reaction! I saw this movie when it came out when I was only 7 years old with my grandparents, and I remember being absolutely DEVASTATED, haha. As an adult it still makes me cry. It's such a part of the zeitgeist that it's easy to poke fun at it but every time I rewatch it I really think it holds up. I also think it's kind of an interesting swap on the manic pixie dream girl trope (even though it came out before that trope really became popular) in that Jack kind of exists to help Rose break free from the chains of her society and live a full life. The door could only save her because ultimately it was her story. Peak Leo-mania!!
What I absolutely love about this movies is that, for like the first hour of it or so, it makes you forget that the ship actually sinks and when you got reminded of it, you start to hope that she doesn't until she hits the iceberg. You experience the same horror as the passengers did.
FUN FACTS: James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet & Celine Dion contributed a combined amount of $30,000 to help with the financial support fund to the youngest Titanic survivor Millvina Dean. Millvina Dean was 2 months old when she was on the Titanic with her family. Millvina died in 2009 at the age of 97. The movie characters Margaret "Molly" Brown, Thomas Andrews, Capt. Edward J. Smith, Bruce Ismay, John Jacob Astor & many more are based on the real-life victims & survivors, by the same name, of the Titanic James Cameron received official certification & license to take a team to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to record footage of the Titanic multiple times. So the footage at the beginning of the movie is real.
I think that the guy with the flask is based on a real survivor of the titanic. I think that he was so drunk he couldn’t feel the coldness of the water.
I love that you reacted to this movie. It's so great. But what I love more is getting to see Gus!! I am also owned by 4 demanding cats who allow me to share their space!! ❤❤ As a sidenote ... Molly Brown was indeed a real person and became known afterwards as "The Unsinkable Molly Brown".
Even if i watch a raction to this movie i cant stop watching the footage instead of the people reacting. But i love how respectfull you treat this movie. I cry everytime i watch it and i dont want to lose that.
I love your cat, and I love it that your wife is a social worker. I also love the painting behind you! I wanted to order it for my niece, but I couldn’t find it in your store. So I got my 2nd favorite. :)

Cal was 30 Jack was only 20 Rose was only 17
@Daydreams-hu2fs yeah that's what I said
@@x0xTHLover4Lifex0x people forget that this was filmed on a stage by actors.
@@sweetwentworth obviously...kudos to the actors for portraying that dynamic subtly and well...follow your own advice. Unplug and get off UA-cam.

@@DeenaSuzanne MythBusters proved it was possible and the door would have easily held both of them.

A few things to lend some historical context:
I'm still saltier than that ocean over the smear campaign against Ismay that persists even to this day.
@@moon-moth1 they literally just said it doesnt excuse his behavior at the end.....
Agreed. I don't think he's a monster. Just a product of his times and upbringing. I am not so sure how much he picked Rose as a love match. Seems like she was a good match among the kind of girls his father said were acceptable.
Correct, James Cameron explained that little moment with Cal on the Carpathia was him realizing what his actions caused.
He tried to kill her rather than let her be with someone else. That is not love. That is possession/power.

Not to bring you more pain, but this movie hits different when you watch it again and notice things you didn't notice before. Like the fact that Jack basically foreshadows his death and a lot of the people that will die when the Titianic inevitably sinks. He explains the feeling of the cold "like a thousand knives stabbing you all at once" 😬
He knows as soon as he can't get on the door that he's going to die.

Something I find really sad is the ship might've survived a head on collision, but the way the iceberg scraped along the side of the ship made it Impossible. This means not only would they have had a better chance if they'd seen the iceberg earlier, they would've had a better chance if they didnt see it at all.
@@path5657 ship-to-ship head on might've worked, not an iceberg.

Can't stress how badly we need a FrankFreezy Chernobyl (HBO) reaction
@@geneticjen9312 ooh, good shout.
only a few minutes in but i really like what you said at 6:36 i think a lot of reactors that know certain plot points in film/tv have the sort of energy that makes it feel like i could just be watching this on my own. you can still appreciate a film that you may have spoilers for if you're not strictly focused on when the parts you know are coming. it doesn't always have to be a total spoiler free watch for a reactor as long as they're actually paying attention to the rest of the film. sorry for the rambling! i just really liked the point you made about the little things because those are usually what i love the most in film. it's not always about the intense moments, but the human moments mixed in. you're always so articulate when you react and it keeps me coming back every time.
James Cameron director of TItanic said the EXACT same thing you said about the Titan sub: arrogance and ignoring warnings proved deadly-again.
My 12 year old cat Einsi says hello to Gus. Greetings from Iceland
aww I can see Einsi on your profile picture. So cute. Me and my two-year-old cat Gus says hello from the US🐈😊
You: I'm getting goosebumps
Me: it's not only the beautiful love story between Rose and Jack but it's also the beautiful Deep chemistry between the two actors Leo and Kate
Great reaction! My favorite movie, of all time. 11 Oscars too.
Thanks for being here and for voicing it😊🙏🏾
"It's been 84 years"
"I'm the King of the World"
"Draw me like one of your french girls"
Those three are such memes at this point 😆😆😆
It sucks that not only Murdoch was given a bad name because of this movie, but Ismays name as well. In reality he was much different than how he’s portrayed
Movie didn't explain it, but the Stern half of Titanic going down so fast resulted in it imploding and tearing apart before hitting the Ocean Floor.
My daughter was the Arizona recipient of the 2023 Horatio Algier scholarship and was lucky enough to go to the National Convention in D.C. this year. She had ZERO clue what all it entailed tbh but when she got to the 1st even lt on day 1 where they met with 1 of the 6 mentors being inducted on the last day and whom they would spend the 3 days learning from hers was non other than Bob Ballard, the man who discovered the ghost of Titanic in 1985 🤯
Knowing how obsessed with ALL things Titanic I am she asked of she would take a picture to send to me, this amazing man said "get mom on the phone!!
Very smart. If he's going then it's safe
@@FrankFreezy_ he did it right when he got that footage .. hell he went to challenger deep diving he very bottom of our known ocean
Omgsh this is the day I’ve been waiting for! Perfect thing to cheer me up-a vid from you! I can’t wait to see your reaction. ❤
That's so sweet. I'm glad it came at the right time. Enjoy enjoy🤍
I cried all the way home from the cinema for about 2 hours. Never been anything come close since movie wise.
"I feel like I'm watching a horror movie at this point, honestly." It really is. Loved this reaction. Such great commentary. Subscribed!
Thank you so much!!
Actually I know you are watching the movie but the movie has 2 major points that
1. Ismay never ask for the Titanic to go at full speed because he wanted to get recognition, is a rumor made because when something like a big tragedy happens people want someone to blame.
And he lived because he was near the botes making sure everyone got in and when he didn't saw anyone else near by so he finally step in and was a very empty bote, actually the botes could carry up to 65 people but because of fear they didn't fill them no even half 😅
33:15 Oh, they didn't spend a couple of weeks together. That was maybe a three days romance, if I'm not mistaken.
We all had to have this soundtrack in 1997-1998
Billy Zane was an absolutely delicious villain in this movie.
Delicious is an interesting word to use and I agree 😁
@@FrankFreezy_ Fantastic word isn't it? I wish I could take full credit of it, but I actually stole it from the ever green Jeff Goldblum.

Fun fact about titanics water tight doors, when the doors are nearly to the bottom of the floor and are about to close, they’d drop straight down like a free fall to create that watertight seal, so that man there would’ve been in a lot of trouble.
I re watched this movie while my 5 year old was sleeping. She woke up at the end of the movie while I was kim kardashian ugly crying and ran off concerned yelling "mommy's crying mommy's crying" lmaooo 😩😅😅
“I saw the iceberg…and I see it in your eyes”
gives me chills every time
Fun fact about titanic, Charles Lightoller the second officer on titanics port side called "Women and Children first" so no men could have got on boats on the port when there was room for them but on the starboard side William Murdoch was letting men on, but he did "Women and children first" so that means when there were empty seats with men, they would let them in.
I love your reactions to this movie. I agree about what you said about the ignorance of very rich people; so true.
I cry everytime I watch this movie man😭😭
Hey F, Sorry I havent been able to comment much at all lately, but always here to support.
“It is me dear, wasn't I a DISH??”
Oh I love it!!
They played until the very end and all went down with the ship
The older couple on the bed was also real couple. Their names were Isidor and Ida Strauss. They were one of the richest couples on board. Ida, gave her spot to her young maid. Isidor was offered a spot but, refused and was disgusted they offered him one at all surrounded by so many woman and youth all around.
Sorry so long man
PS. I have a orange kitty, too!!!! Her name is Persimmon. My others name is Papaya which she looks nothing like but, I still stuck with the theme
I had an orange kitty named Clementine, like a tangerine 🐈🧡
I’m proud to be named Isidor. He was a hero! His wife was too.
The ethereal singing at the beginning was a lady called Sissel Kyrnjebo. I only mention that as you mentioned Celine Dion at the beginning. Great reaction btw 👏👍
Funny thing is James Cameron actually went down there to get that footage lol
Freaking awesome
He went for research and limited footage which you see on the small tvs. the main wreck footage was done by a model
@@ryanhelton1865 yeah man .. nobody thinks James Cameron was moving around inside the titanic or getting super clear shots like that with a camera on a submersible .. we know :p
Some of it. They recreated some of the wreck’s interiors and shot them in basically a dusty room in order to get high quality footage (like the piano - that’s not real wreck footage, it’s a recreation).
@@ryanhelton1865 Any time you see the 2 subs together is a model shot. Most interior shots are in a set. Wreck footage from his dive was used as a reference.
This is my favorite movie 🥹🫶🏼 I’m so happy you loved it Frank! ✨
If you put a cat-chair on your videos, we will have two handsome men to watch! ; )
Watching Titanic in cinema when it came out was very impressive visually, but being older now i can appreciate Rose's point of view of the whole thing much more.
haha you're awesome😊😊💜💜 I will definitely consider putting him up here with me
Thanks for expressing how different you view rose's perspective now. I'm happy for all the decisions she made in this film. Even the crazy risky ones
The ethereal voice you hear vocalizing is not Celine Dion, but Sissel.
Ive seen this movie so many times.. for what ever reason as I'm watching this I randomly got the thought that had she just stayed on that little boat and did not jump back onto the ship there would have been room on that door hahaha
I love Gus ❤
💜💜🤍🤍🐈🐈😊😊 He will love hearing that

Edward J. Smith, Bruce Ismay, John Jacob Astor & many more are based on the real-life victims & survivors, by the same name, of the Titanic
James Cameron received official certification & license to take a team to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to record footage of the Titanic multiple times. So the footage at the beginning of the movie is real.
Wow! Thank you for sharing this. Amazing
I was working at a vhs rental place when this came out, it was so long it came on 2 tapes.
Ps hi Gus!
I think that the guy with the flask is based on a real survivor of the titanic. I think that he was so drunk he couldn’t feel the coldness of the water.
I don't really blame the rich people who went into that submarine. I blame the "engineers" who convinced them it was safe.
Titanic is such a movie that when you rewatch it, you can cry from the very beginning))
I love that you reacted to this movie. It's so great. But what I love more is getting to see Gus!! I am also owned by 4 demanding cats who allow me to share their space!! ❤❤
