Have and use this saw. It is buttery smooth, but I think DeWalt could have found a bit more power? I only use the 5.0 battery on it. Have You used the bevel adjustment, and what are your thoughts? I had to adjust the tension like 3 times, and it still isn’t quite right. Of course this is really just a trim saw, but still…
This is an unusual video; I say that because you're cutting Laun board, with the blade set all the way down, and it doesn’t really challenge the saw. Good cutting prowess otherwise. Please Be careful with how You support the material, even it is thin stock. Completely agree on the hook. I scratch my head at the ole’ DeWalt engineers sometimes!? 😯 😂 Stay safe!

I can agree and disagree, but you kinda already said it. It's a small trim saw. I've cut much larger lumber being lazy and just grabbing this saw because of where it's at in my truck, rather than getting a better suited saw that requires unpacking. Any tool can ALWAYS use more power, it's got more beans than the Milwaukee M12 circular saw and that's plenty enough for what it's really expected to do. But Dewalt better watch out with the gen 2 M12 saw coming soon. I'm just gripping and ripping here, it's rough cut and does not need to be exact. You can see i've got it sitting on 1 1/2" foam board for the cuts that need to be perfect, dip the blade just under the surface and off to the races. Not setting the best example for users that don't know better, but i'm not here to teach the nuances of proper circular saw use and cutting. There is work to be done and I shouldn't even be taking the the to film when i'm on a client's job, but this client doesn't mind, so I make sure to film as quickly as possible. As far as messing with the bevel, yes and no. I understand that asking this saw to cut a perfect 45° or any degree bevel cut is, well asking a lot from it. It's a tiny, light, just powered enough to get outta it's own way and I use it within those expectations. If I took my time, was being patient and precise, could I make more intricate cuts with it? Sure, any tool Is capable in the right hands. With the multitude and variety of saws I own, i'd use the best saw suited for my cutting needs. The only issue I have with this saw is more of an issue with @dewalt 12v Extreme line of tools. The Extreme line, is a very capable selection of tools, and personally I really love the dedicated screwdriver, LOVE the oscillating multi tool, the 1/2" impact wrench is a MONSTER of power, installation driver, I could go on and say something about each and every tool in the line and except for selection/line size I think it's better then Milwaukee head to head, tool for tool, EXCEPT Dewalt falls dead on their face because of this, the lineup selection. A new tool user could easily start their ownership with the Extreme lineup with a great BOGO battery/tool promo cheaply. That sale happens very often and sets users up with the big 5ah battery and great 3ah battery along with the 2ah batteries included in the tool kits. Start with the drill driver combo, add a multi saw, circular saw, and quickly they're far enough into a tool line to not want to start over when they find out there isn't a jig saw offered. Or a 12v light, vacuum, cut off tool(how easy would this be for dewalt to offer?) Long reach ratchets? My point is, the circular saw is being asked to do too much because a jig saw and other cutting saws are not yet being offered by Dewalt and that forces new and experiences users who may only have this one saw are asking it to be more versatile than it truly is. Ugh, now that I typed all that out I REALLY hope it makes sense in words the way it did in my head. Lol

I hope they expand the lineup.......

They were saying there were expansions planned when the line first launched, but those months have come and gone. At this point, with the success and domination of the M12 line, I don't expect anything more. They'll pedal what they already have designed and manufactured. Kinda like I expect Flex to continue doing.

@@ProToolsApproved great reply and good points taken, thank you. The point I was making about the bevel was it is very stiff and hard to adjust back and forth, and the lever needed to be fiddled with. I sprayed some lubricant on the pivot points, and now it bevels easier. Good little saw, but with its limitations of course. I am hoping they will expand their lineup. Good grief, DeWalt sure has like 50 different 20 volt drills and impacts. I scratch my head at what they must be thinking sometimes?! 🙄

Thank you! And my apology, lack of sleep, over worked, I obviously read way further into that than was intended. Yes! Absolutely yes, the bevel sticks, and is nearly useless.
