May I suggest to film bits of doing the floor joists showing how it looks in the beginning and then each day raising it and then the final result. Include a day count of how long it takes you to complete the entire project of raising the floor joists. Just make a cumulative video of the project.
It would be cool if you could get a couple of pigs from the Hollars. The pigs would help you clean out the orchard area, and Ben could teach you how to butcher them, or since Taylor is vegetarian, you could sell them and use that money for goats. :) Ben could also help you build an inexpensive fence(charged) to keep them in. Electric wire is much cheaper than building a goat fence. Community is a good thing.
I have used apricot jam as a glaze on chicken breasts. The sugar makes the skin brown and crispy. The breast was stuffed with shredded zucchini between the skin another the actual breast. You can nuke the jam and pour over ice cream as a topping. Also nuke and pour over a block of cream cheese and spread on crackers. I like cream cheese spread on a slice of pound cake with canned fruit on the cream cheese on the cake. But it would be nice with nuked jam especially if there were fruit chunks in it. Enjoy!
Just realized I've missed some videos, so I'm binging them today, well as much as I can. I am still subscribed, and it shows I'm receiving all notifications but have not. I'm glad I thought to check.
Use the jams for marinades, savory type dishes. Inside muffins or baked goods. Ice cream topping or lemonade flavoring. You may not be motivated to get additional animals but pigs would eat through the poison ivy.
Marinades are a great idea. Pigs just aren’t something that works for us. Tay doesn’t eat meat & I don’t want to butcher something alone. Don’t want a pet pig lol goats would serve as a dairy animal & help us with clearing, so they’re a better fit.
Hey 😁 have you ever thought of using pallets and or recycled wood for your various projects? Up here in Canada behind Home Depot there is thousands of free pallets all sizes… even some plywood and 2x4’s. we use them for everything🤣 chicken coop, outdoor shower, tables, work benches you name it. All free. Might save u guys some cash to put into other things👌 Happy homesteading!
Hi I’m new to your channel. I’m also from Michigan (Warren) and I’m now in a similar climate to yours in South Carolina. I look forward to watching your homestead grow and learning as well being as I’m looking to put in a garden. Growing in MI was easy to me but down here I struggle growing anything outside. I’ve also seen enough snow to last a lifetime! 😊
If you like yogurt, jam is wonderful to put a spoonful in vanilla yogurt. My husband would never eat yogurt but now that is all he wants for dessert. I have made pineapple jam, blueberry jam, sweet cherry preserves and strawberry freezer jam to use for that.
Omg yes we just leveled my 1925 house it’s the second time I have done this it was over due when you have a pier and been home you have to do touch up every 5 years or at least check it .., But we also gonna start putting in windows ..(1925 house)also up keeping in an older house
Go to a nursery that is made and sells things for your zone and talk to them. They don’t know a lot and they’ll probably have customers that have apples and stuff that you can just ask around.
You are testing Trucks? How cool is that ❤. I work for Daimler Truck over here in germany. But in the aftersales area and customer satisfacion. Greetings from Berlin Germany from Nadine
Everybody on this block has some type of tree at the corner of the lady has an avocado tree a couple houses down from me. The lady has two versions of grapefruit. She has peaches, nectarines, and we all share. I have a pair of Tree that produces well used to produce 200 pounds pairs super big protein so this year probably won’t get that it’ll probably be next year
Taylor says he's vegetarian as it's healthier for him personally, and doesn't like the way most meat is raised. Would he consider eating meat you raised at home.
I don’t think he feels comfortable butchering animals, and this point he doesn’t have any plans to start eating meat again, but that’s more because he feels like his body does better eating a vegetarian diet than consuming meat.
The fireflies in the background make for such a magical touch to the video!
We love hanging out there at night. The whole property lights up with fireflies all of June & it’s absolutely magical!
Thanks for sharing. The future looks good for you both because of all your hard work.❣️
Thank you so much!
For vlog-mas you can do like that 1870’s homestead ‘whats for dinner’ using your home grown preserved or canned items. Love watching that
Because its been so hot, we've made popsicles with jam! We just use greek yogurt, jam, & vanilla!
The lights on the arches look great
I like using jams to glaze meat. Jam mixed with a bit of crushed red pepper or cayenne powder on pork is delicious.

Yes I like that and just a bit of normal every day, cook, garden, animals

Great Q&A; it was fun & I feel that I got to know you both better! Thanks for sharing & you’re doing fabulous! Blessings to everyone 🤗🇨🇦
Thanks so much for watching. Glad you liked it. These are some of my favorite kinds of videos to watch & film 😊
Omg , I’m a southern boy that had to move to Florida 30 years ago. I was giddy to see the fireflies!!!! They aren’t down here where I am. I miss them.
❤❤❤
Hi! That was a really good Q&A.
Have a WONDERFUL week.
❤❤❤
So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you!😊
Borrow the holler’s pigs for the poison oak! They love it!
Christmas cards and stickers are a great idea! I send cards to a few of my UA-cam channels and would love to add more because I love sending them! ❤😊
I like stirring a bit of jam in with overnight oats or with chia seed "pudding".
Just realized I've missed some videos, so I'm binging them today, well as much as I can. I am still subscribed, and it shows I'm receiving all notifications but have not. I'm glad I thought to check.
You just made a new friend I'm in North Carolina too. Love seeing your videos and learning along side with you guys.
Awh hi! Thank you 😁

I use jam in sauces like sweet/sour and BBQ marinades when wanting that carmalization.
I just started listening to the podcast and I love it!

I love seeing the fireflies
You can add jam to oatmeal, or cottage cheese for breakfast or make various breads.
We like to use our canned whole fruits in oatmeal, but I like the idea of adding this to other breads!
If you like yogurt, jam is wonderful to put a spoonful in vanilla yogurt. My husband would never eat yogurt but now that is all he wants for dessert. I have made pineapple jam, blueberry jam, sweet cherry preserves and strawberry freezer jam to use for that.
Wow you guys have fireflies. 😮
That’s so cool (for me that i don’t have any).
I just adore the fireflies. Even being used to them now, they’re still just as magical ☺️
Goats... maybe get some rental goat's to help clear the orchard area?
We looked into it when we first got here. It costs way more than we could ever justify spending. We’d rather wait & invest in our own herd.
We love BlackBerry BBQ sauce
The katydids were loud. I turned the volume down to see if crickets had moved into the house!!!lol. Loved the q&a ❤
Plus the time crunch when the main holidays come you ,I always wanna have house ready for family..(it’s true dt me )

I just purchased a cherry tree ..I’m hoping 🤞🏽

Neat! He used to test semis at Detroit diesel, but now he’s at freightliner. Both are Daimler Truck though 😁
👍

Are those solar lights along the trellis’?
Yes!
You possibly could jack up the joist a couple at a time, especially how little you are going up at a time.
Do you have a wish list on Amazon
