I have only FWD car, and I have been buying only 2 tires for a long time. I keep checking inflation and rotation the tires on schedule, so they are worn evenly enough, and I have never had any problems.
I would NEVER replace only 1 tire, especially the pair that drives the car. If the pair of driving wheels have different circumference or grip pattern, it will cause vibration and it's more dangerous when the speed goes higher, like on freeway.

I have a FWD car and I'm looking on buying Hankook Evo 2 for my rear tires. I have new federal ss595 tires on all 4 and 2 on the rear are almost worn out. And thinking about getting the Hankook brand.

Yeah I have had FWD cars for the past 5 years. I only replace two tires at a time, keep the best 2 for the back and trash the worst 2. I’ve never had a grip problem. It’d be nice to have all new tires but I’m not going to waste the rubber and money unnecessarily

I'm resident in Malaysia. I only have experience in 2 wheel for past 45 years. Initial first 2 years of driving(RWD), I did tyre rotation but found that after every rotation, my car handles a bit weird and I need to replace all 4 tires eventide it wears off. After that I refused to do rotation anymore. All of the time the driving wheels tyres will wear off so much faster than the idling wheel tyres. So I will replace the idling tyres with 2 new ones and use the 2 old idling wheel tyres to replace the worn out driving wheel tyres. My nature of work is field engineering so I've been on the road throughout my whole career of 34yrs. It's from my personal experience prejudice to none. God bless !

I bought my first used car 2.5 years ago. I bought my first set of new tires this winter. It was only then that I realized two of my tires were from 2020 and the other two were ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE FROM 2016!! Man I made a lot of mistakes buying my first car, but now I’ve learned a thing or two 😅 Long story short, I ended up buying all 4 new tires and held on to the two newer tires for emergencies.

Buy 4 new tyres for every season spring /summer and autumn and if a tyre loses pressure as much as 1 percent over a month ...replace all four asap .with the most soft sticky expensive none widow maker Chinese tyres you can possibly buy. While you are there replace your brakes disks pads and callipers and brake lines with stainless braided flexi hoses as you can never be too carful also get a new stainless exhaust and cat to save all them polar bears and baby seals

This is a bunch of FUD (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt). If you’re replacing both wheels on the same axle, with the same or equivalent type of tire as the ones on the other axle, you’re fine. Just keep them rotated properly, and start out the new tires on the driving axle then rotate them to the rear after 10,000 miles. It’s never been the slightest issue for me.

I don't know about safety or drivability issues. I can tell you on my 95 F 150 rwd that I have owned since 2011 I just replace one tire at a time with a used tire around 30 bucks (used to be 20). I don't match brand, tread, or winter/summer. All my tires look different and have different names on them. I bought the truck at 123000 miles now it has 280000 miles. Never had an issue with anything. I drive 80 mph every day on freeway. Im cheap and I ride them tires till the metal is visible. If you don't ride your tires til the metal rings stick out you ain't getting the full usage outta your tires. I've had a couple blowouts on freeway. Never lost control and each time rolled calmly to the side. I've repaired tires the tire shop said couldn't be repaired. I've plugged sidewalls multiple times. I make jokes to my coworkers that my tires have more plug rubber than tire rubber and they're still chuggin along. Driving in the snow sucks though. But if your carefully and know the limitations of your tread and vehicle you will be fine. On another note my family Yukon that my wife drives with the kids I always buy 2 brand new tires at a time, because I want my kids to be safe.

1A Auto, I Wish you'd sell tires. The tire market is so confusing with all the brands, ratings and everything they charge just to get you out the door. The online sellers aren't any good either. I got "new" tires last year manufactured in 11th week of 17... So basically, over two year old tires. Now I'm looking for a set for my wife's Odyssey...

What about 3 matching tires? OK to put the mis-matched tire in the back? Front wheel drive. Previous owner only replaced 1 tire when he had to replace a tire! And it's not the same brand, and of course the tread depth is a little deeper than the other tires.

Any imbalance in your tire is going to cause uneven weathering which will lead to your tires popping in weeks/months. Do not put uneven tires on the same axle.

Great informative video. I have a pu truck with 4 Michelin LTX tires which are now discontinued in my size. 2 tires have very good tread. Discount Tire said to put a couple AT tires on the rear and leave the great tread tires on the front. The truck is used for snow plowing. Is this a good idea?

I just found myself in a predicament where I need to replace one tire, but my exact tires are out of stock. When I bought my car 2 months ago, they had brand new tires, I've driven the car about 3K mi in that time. Is it good to get 2 of the same brand (Michelin) for the front axle, or would I have to buy all 4? I live in Central California.

Yeah. If I have two bald tires and two with 60% tread left on them I’m not gonna buy four new ones. I bought two spare OEM rims. And I swap out my two worst tires every two years. Oh I put the two new ones on the front and the two decent ones on the back. Saves me some money and I’ve never had a problem.

All seasons/winter tires are obsolete for most people. All weather tires are suitable for most people in the snow.
Better than some winter tires in snow and ice and can be left on all year.
Far cheaper since no ugly rims, storage or changing twice a year. They qualify as a winter tire where it's required.
Nokian WR G4 or Toyo Celsius.
All seasons are obsolete now. Why would you put a tire on that's terrible in the snow so only really 3 seasons?
Winter tires are also obsolete for most people.
All weathers are rated to last 100K km and there is no noise like many winter tires.. Once OEMs put all weathers on new cars and people find out they are fantastic in the snow and ice most people won't bother with winter tires.
Search UA-cam for "Tip of the Week: All Weather Tires".
Search UA-cam for "New All-Weather Tires Outperform Some Snow Tires | Consumer Reports"

I had new tires on my front wheel drive toyota camry like for 6 months and drove 6000 miles.
And after that I got a screw on the side of tire so it was needed to be replaced. So, the tire was replaced with a new one of different brand, as the other one was not available.
Will the 6000 miles difference make a safety issue while driving?
And should the new tire be put on the rear?
    Thanks.
