Even if you hate every subjective thing about the Camaro it is still objectively a great performance car.

At every price point its basically the fastest track car you can get for its money.
And its interior, and feature list has vastly improved.

Some clarification here: The V6 1LE comes with the FE3 suspension from the Camaro SS, the SS 1LE has the FE4 suspension.
So the V6 1LE is basically a V6 with half upgraded suspension/tires, and an appearance package.
The SS 1LE has a HUGE amount of upgrades, esp for its price.

In 1988, I was working for a race team in the IMSA Firestone Firehawk showroom stock series. At the start of the season, we had two IROC-Zs, and two Trans-Ams. Three races in, GM decided they wanted Pontiac to win the IMSA series, and Chevy to win the SCCA equivalent, so we switched to all Pontiacs. The 1LE program was still very hush-hush, and hadn't been approved by IMSA yet, so we had to sneak parts around, like the aluminum drive shaft, and hollow anti-sway bars. The cars also had some really nice brakes from PBR in Australia. We could perform a brake change (actually changed the caliper with new pads in it) via a quick disconnect, dry-break coupler in under two minutes, which was incredibly fast for showroom stock racing.

I wanted one of these when I was shopping for a new 2017 Camaro back in September. They were just shy of being available. I decided to go with the regular 1SS. I sure would like the 6 piston calipers, wider tires, Recaro seats and the MRC but oh well, that's the breaks. For the way this old man drives and where I live, the roads are mainly crap. The ride of the stock 1SS is rough enough around here. Plus, honestly, I think I like the looks of the stock SS over the 1LE. It's just a matter of taste. Regardless, this is a sweet combination. Just wish I could have test driven the 1LE before I got the one I did. Cheers!

Just Ordered a 2018 Summit White SS 1LE today. The wait is going to kill me. I had a tough time choosing the color I wanted. Came down to Summit White and Arctic Blue Metallic.

So Matt I know this is an older one. Rear diffs- obviously our 2SS diffs are a different gear ratio. Partly cause the 1LE is an M6. Im wondering what about it is electronically controlled? Do you know? Aren't both rear ends limited slip?

so i finally decided to cave in... getting an ss 1le pretty much like this one, in the same blue... have to wait till june for the delivery tho. I was still torn between a used zl1 '14, or a mustang GT. But I just love the look of those new camaro especially in the 1le livery. Just can't wait.

@@Lethalgarage this video just poped back on my list, maybe because I stored my 1le for winter and I miss it already, but so far its been a blast owning that car. I did about 24000km and had to change the goodyear tire. Went with more streetable pilot sport 4s. So glad I went with this ss 1le purchase, and it still stock. :)
You mentioned about the rear end numbers, what are the differences between them?

Just a small tip, lenses wise, only shoot with wide angle lenses when you need it.

I have the same car, except 2018. Does his (or anyone out there) have issues with excessive road // wind ? noise when making calls with the blue tooth connected phone calls. I hear people fine, but they cant hear me... My dealer cant find anything wrong...
some research shows it could be a air leak around the windshield or driverside mirror.. any thoughts?

I'm looking to buy a 1le. I seen some with pdr option installed and some without. Question is, if the dealer does not list pdr on the vehical accessory, but entertainment system, you can see the pdr app. Could you assume that pdr is installed and not listed, or has there been camaro without the camera and still have pdr app?
PDR app and camera comes standard on all 1LE’s

AWESOME CAR about to order mine soon but saw on the camaro6 forums that they might release a 2018 2SS 1le don't know if I should wait or go ahead with a 2017 SS 1le only interested in the Bose system don't trust shops locally to install a sound system on a 2017 really love that Bose system I wish I had more info on 2018 2SS 1le if they actually are going to move forward with one

+Jon Car no the one always meant to be a strip down track car you can't get any of the upgraded items. As mentioned many times in this thread GM gave them 2 left side spoiler pieces in shipping instead of left and right
Lethal garage I have a question for you, I just bought a 2022 Camaro 2ss with the 1LE package, in Wild Cherry tintcoat, I want to remove the hood rap. Obviously the whole hood is wrapped, so therefore I want to remove it and only have a single stripe in the middle of the hood can you send me a video how to remove that rap on the whole Hood cuz right now I'm little sketchy about removing that cuz I'm not sure if I'm going to ruin the paint under the rap thanks
You can watch any video on how to remove a wrap. I don’t have one specific for this.

What benefit does wrapping the hood have for a track car? I like the way it looks, but it seems like a cheap way to simulate the look of a lighter hood.

There was never an IROC SS. "SS" was never used as a designation or trim on any third gen Camaro.
the front looks so aggressive but the back looks like a Barbie designer slapped it on. the previous gen rear end with the 4 separate tail lights looked so nice

The HUD is a must for me now. Whenever I drive a car without it I feel weird! I wish GM offered the PDR as an option for the SS models.

I am a bit confused as to why they ditched the square setup in exchange for the 305/285 setup. I thought square was the way to go on these cars. I would love to ride in one of these someday. My 2015 1LE is extremely hard riding. Doesn't bother me, but my wife bitches about it all the time. I'd like to compare the two.

Honestly can't decide between this and just a regular 2SS. Only thing holding me back is the cooled seats. I know it might sound petty but in CA during the summer its one of the best features.

I've heard the vented seats in the camaro aren't as good. N I've tried em n they aren't as good as mopar

All things being the same grip wise, the V6 would be a lot more fun than the V8 on a short track or autocross style driving. I really wish they would make a 1LE package for the 2.0T.
What do you think of the 1le as primarily a freeway cruiser? Thinking of getting one.
I think it would be a great car. With Mag ride and the suspension changes, she rides really good on the highway.
Joseph Herbias not a great idea if you encounter rain often. the wide ties tend to slip around in standing water and in the dry there's also a decent amount of tramlining. not awful but definitely more of a sports car than daily driver. m3 & c63S are my choices for sporty fun highway cruisers
evanescent03 unfortunately both those cars are well out of my price range so I ended up getting one maybe a day or two after I posted that. I do notice the tramlining and the rain comment... not fun especially with over- inflated tires. It's a lot noisier than my old car but I almost don't notice after 2500 miles. Can't really beat that GM V8 sound
in the dry, it's really enjoyable... just need to keep both hands on the wheel on rough roads and especially in rain which is a good habit for anyone in any car :) enjoy the car and I hope you get to take it to the track sometime!

I know you commented in the video that it's not a bad ride, but how is it for cruising? I remember driving an 05 Mini Cooper and every single bump and crack would shoot right up your ass and I hated it
