    Looked up tips for jetty fishing, turns out this is my exact local jetty 😂

    Took my first striper two months ago up here in NH. It was under a bridge with a lot of structure and a swift outgoing tide. Took it on a 4" moonwalker. 26" gave me a real nice battle on a 6 1/5' Star rod and 2500 Stradic FL reel, but the rig performed great. Two inches short of minimum. :-} Thanks for these tips. I had no idea tides come in from the south, and back out from the north. Great stuff!

    Great tips there but i think one of the coolest things are seeing the kids out fishing. 👍

      @FatDadFishing 5 років тому +2

      I agree. I couldn't stop talking to the kids (as you can see in the video. AND they were very good fishermen, and very concerned about returning the fish to the water unharmed.

    I’ve fished 8th St Jetty many many times. I’m from Absecon and I hop in and out of 8th St Jetty, to T Jetty in AC, to the Longport Point, to Brigantine Bridge, and it’s awesome the fishing we have around here. Tautog off the bridge at Avalon is killer to. Great vid. Come down again soon . Hit up all of South Jersey shores

      I should be back down in 2 weeks. Not sure exactly where I'll be, but it will be south Jersey for sure.

    Rich,
    I recently joined Salt Strong Insiders. I found this video. This jetty is one of my staple spots.
    Next time you hit this jetty target Tautog. I crush them on the 8th street jetty. Sand fleas for bait.
    Also, Tautog, in my opinion are the tastiest inshore species for this area.
    Tight lines!!

    Hi, I am watching your videos and very much enjoying learning and moving forward. I wanted to ask about your explanation of the moon, the new moon has stronger currents compared to the full moon? And if so, why? Is the tide higher on the full moon and lower on the new moon? If you can explain it would be very helpful - thank you very much !!!

    • @FatDadFishing
      @FatDadFishing 5 років тому

      Happy to explain what I meant...the new and full moon both typically generate stronger tidal flow (and higher/lower tides). While they may differ slightly, any difference would be negligible. With all else being equal, the new and full moons should produce similar conditions in flow.

      In this video I started using a 1 oz bucktail topped with a 3" Slam Shady Paddletail. The paddletail was destroyed very quickly so I switched to tossing only a naked bucktail. So....no bait. As for the rod, in this video its a custom graphite 7' rod with a Penn 550ss reel. The line is 12lb test Sufix mono.

    How will these tips work for westcoast jetties?

    • @brantmerrill9099
      @brantmerrill9099 3 роки тому

      I’m thinking it is the same just not, upside down...what I mean is that incoming tides on the west coast come in from the north moving south...I believe (someone correct me if I’m wrong) . If you just apply what he said by flip flopping north and south you’ll see the same patterns gone over in this video.
