Easy lover with Philip Bailey from earth wind and fire and Phil Collins
And it is FIRE!!
EXACTLY, I have begged for a year.
Don't think its gonna happen. They also need to jump into the Supremes that did this song first.
I think in a past video they mentioned "Easy Lover" was being blocked.
They did Easy Lover on Patreon.
@@richardkint6531 Wonder why some songs are blocked and some aren't?
Im 63 years old. I grew up hearing Diana Ross and the Supremes singing this song on the stereo in my house. It is an amazing song by those ladies ❤ That being said, Phil Collins did a spectacular cover and I love it every bit as much as the origina.l
Much love from Maine and keep doin what ya do ❤
its the orchestral scoring in this version that blows my mind-the string flourish just as he sings the title is wonderful and makes this version fun, playful, light, passionate and bouncy.
Another 63 year-old from Maine and I agree.
Hi fellow Mainer! I agree with you about this cover!
Yes he did one of the few times a cover was in my opinion done properly
Diana Ross and the Supremes first did this song. He did a great cover 🥰
They reacted to the Supremes singing this song but it wasnt the airplay version and it wasn't very good. Maybe it was a session recording or something.
@@pattyduke3079 Finally someone else noticed this!! [For the record, my comment below is not about the Phil Collins cover but refers to the substandard version of "YCHL" that was played last year in the Rob Squad reaction to the original Supremes version. It was not the released hit record but an early practice recording with numerous flaws.]
My original post: "This is a really bad version of "You Can't Hurry Love"-- entire lines of the lyrics are edited out. Ross stops singing at one point! Is this some awful "live" recording? Who posted this? Please find the original version. This is a travesty."
[Then I searched and found the posted video that was played for their reaction.....
"Okay, I see what happened. This video is listed as the 1st original take of YCHL. So basically a practice recording. It definitely improved when they released the single."
Rob Squad seemed oblivious to the screw-up but they do still remember hearing the song. So there's that.
Yes. I love the supremes and thus is basically a direct cover. Good, but not original
@@markfadness9204 I responded to a comment that I preferred Phil Collins version to the one they reacted to. I very much prefer the Supremes released single to Phil Collins cover. Come on now, they were backed by the Funk Brothers.
It’s one of many great songs by the team of Holland-Dozier-Holland.
"Easy Lover" is a duet with Phillip Bailey & Phil Collins....so please do it next time!
It's a banger!
It’s shite
Hey ya’ll, for another Phil Collins flavor check out “Mama”. It’s a Genesis tune and he delivers another amazing vocal performance. And the song is a radical departure from what you’ve heard from Phil so far. A worthy listen to.
Abxolutely YES!!!
Phil Collins and You Can't Hurry Love peaked at #10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 the week of February 5, 1983. The rest of the top 10 at the time:
1) Africa - Toto
2) Down Under - Men At Work
3) Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye
4) Baby, Come To Me, Patti Austin & James Ingram
5) Shame On The Moon - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
6) Maneater - Daryl Hall & John Oates
7) Dirty Laundry - Don Henley
8) Rock The Casbah - The Clash
9) You And I - Eddie Rabbitt with Crystal Gayle
10) You Can't Hurry Love - Phil Collins
"You and I" is one of the best love songs of the '80s.
What a superb top 10 - dread to think what the first week of February 2024 was like!
written by the songwriting Team (Holland, Dozier & Holland) who also did: "Baby Love", "Stop! In the Name of Love", and "You Keep Me Hangin' On".
I'm 60 years old now and can still remember dancing to this in nightclubs. Great times.
Ah so it WAS you I saw in the club dancing to this yesterday!
I my opinion Phil's best song , words and music is Against all Odds.
AWESOME song
Underrated movie starring Jeff Bridges
I got this girl on UA-cam to cover against all odds a couple years ago...she did a friggin great job...here's the yt link to her cover of the song.

Never get sick of Phil Collins! I'm a true 80's kid and Phil Collins was my childhood.
Groovy Kind Of Love is another great cover song by Mr. Phil Collins
My favorite Phil Collins song is Do You Remember. It's such a underated song and when people talk about his songs many don't even know it exists.
Agreed 👍
Groovy kind of love by Phil,I know you’ll love it
I would prefer the 1966 original "Groovy Kind Of Love" by The Mindbenders. It is very groovy !
For anyone interested, Phil has a 2010 album called Going Back which is entirely Motown covers that he says were his inspiration as an artist, the album is fantastic!
Phil Collins - Misunderstanding - Follow You Follow Me - Mama - One More Night ...... (You'll Love all these!!)
Follow you Follow me, love that song!
All, except One More Night, are actually Genesis songs. Of course these Genesis songs featured Phil Collins on lead vocals as they were after Peter Gabriel left the group.
Follow You, Follow Me is the tail end of their prog era and starting into their pop era!
They already did follow you follow me
Yeah all great songs 😄
4:28 Amber says, "You love yourself, Phil!" Lmao if you look at all his cover art on all his solo albums it's literally just his face on EVERY SINGLE ONE! 🤣 Always loved that about him.
"Easy Lover" with Philip Bailey (from Earth, Wind and Fire) is a Must listen to.
he loves motown songs.
so he decided to sing this song honoring those fantastic songs.
i am a big fan of phil collins.
every song he sings is pure gold.
Phil is FANTASTIC! My personal favorite is Against All Odds (Take A Look at Me Now).
I’m shocked you guys have not played ‘Mama’ Genesis! Super dark. You will never forget this song.
Phil collins groovy kind of love is a must
Went to The Fall Guy today. Main girl did karaoke of Against All Odds. Halfway through they let Phil's voice become louder and i was like WOW. His nuances are powerful. 👂 ❤
Speaking of being your own backup singer...Barry Manilow sings 18 different tracks on his song One Voice.
More Barry Manilow would be an excellent thing....
"I Don't Care Anymore" was the follow up single to this one.
There's a movie with Phil Collins called Buster. It's all about the great train robbery from the 1960s. Phil plays Buster Edwards, a guy who went from a thief/robber to the most wanted man in Britian. I never knew Phil was such a brilliant actor till i watched it.
what! I have to see this.
I just recommended this film myself too very good film
Saw it, anything he does is gold
He also played a gay disco owner in the AIDS-docu drama: "And the Band Played On".
try 1980's/1990's "GROOVY KIND OF LOVE" song
by
Phil Collins❤❤
This is also a cover of a 60s song done by Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders.
"That's all" is a great Phil Collins song
That's a Genesis song...and agreed, a great one, and they already reacted to it
Phil's cover of Cyndi Lauper's True Colours is my absolute favourite.
Jay and Amber, this song helped propel Phil Collins into superstar status. He took this Supremes tune to #10. An even bigger cover by Phil came with his 1988 #1: A Groovy Kind Of Love. Hope you check it out.
He released an album called "Going Back" that was all covers of motown standards. Most of them are bangers as well. _Ain't Too Proud to Beg_ is probably the best on the album.
I love Groovy Kind of Love
Do you Remember is one of my favorites by Phil.
Don’t forget he is the drummer on this.
One thing that don't get mentioned enough is that Phil was an amazing drummer. Highly regarded by his peers in the 70's when he was with Genesis and Peter Gabriel was the singer. If you get a chance I is that you go down that rabbit hole with Genesis, especially the early albums prior to Phil becoming the singer. If you like Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Yes, then you will absolutely love some old Genesis and you'll understand why he was regarded as one of the best of his generation on drums.
NO SON OF MINE or HOME BY THE SEA... I'm telling ya, either song by Mr. Collins will stun you!
Phil Collins Is The Best 💯, Great Reaction Guy's
My absolute favorite of his. Easy lover and Sussudio are number 2 and 3. I just love 80s pop Phil 🙂
I remember when I picked up the album this came from in 1983, "Hello, I Must Be Going!" From 1982, I have a soft spot for that album. This cover was a big single back then.
Give the Supremes credit for this song.
All these years and I never realized it is a cover.
They did?
Amber literally mentions them and states its their song
They have a great cover of Cindi Lauper's True Colors. That's with Genesis, i believe.
It's crazy to think the original was only 16 years old when Phil covered it, and now 42 years have passed since then!
Fun song 😂
He also covers Cyndi Lauper's True Colors.
❤Yes, and I prefer his version.
With Babyface
As always, you can never go wrong with Phil!
The reason that you don't appreciate the song "in the air of the night" is that you never saw the first Miami vice episode in which that song was featured.
A couple more to consider from Phil/Genesis are;
Genesis-Mama (it's kind of dark and haunting. Lol
Phil; he did a duet with Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind and Fire called "Easy lover". It's such a fun song. 😃
Cover: Pet Shop Boys- "Always on My Mind"
Oh, you definitely need to react to Phil Collins song "Don't you lose my number." It was so popular, and it brings back so many great memories. ❤️💕💜❤️💕💜
Just as good as theirs! Nothing to take away from the Supremes original which is indeed a classic.
I'm 29 and this song was what made me a Phil Collins fan in my late teens.
You always know Phil Collins despite the amazing difference in each song.
Phill Collins and Marylin Martin, Seperate lives is a great song
Phil Collins is a fantastic singer actor and all round nice guy. So sad he's so ill And and getting worse as his illness Goes on. And we will soon be Losing him.
Phil's song I CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU never fails to bring a tear to my eyes, he truly has the soul of a poet.
I've been hoping you'd get to this magnificent cover by him!
He even kept the melody, which preserved the authenticity and mood from the Supremes' take
I can even hear them when Phil sings their lyrics
This is, by far, my favorite Phil Collins song. 🎶
You’ll notice he’s doing his own pair of backup singers
J/A, great choice on this.
Its not The Supremes, with The Funk Brothers on the instruments, but always great to hear a L.Holland-Dozier-E.Holland classic!!!
You haven't even scratched the surface with Phil and lead singer with Genesis
LOVE this light-hearted SUPREMES cover by Phil!! :) ENJOY, YA'LL!!!
A+J your next Phil Collins reaction should 100% be "Something Happened on the Way to Heaven" it's goated.
Hi Jay and Amber! It's Andrew Erroch fae Paisley in Scotland here. Phil Collins also recorded and released another old song from the 60's when he starred in the movie Buster in 1988 based on the true story of The Great Train Robbery of 1963. That song was 'A Groovy Kind Of Love'. The soundtrack also featured another great song of his, which is 'Two Hearts'. Jay, you said he's a character. Well, he actually was! Æx 🙏
I don't think he's such a fun guy to be around these days due to ill health. 🤔
"Easy Lover" with Phillip Bailey is Great....GREAT DRUMS and a song that will stay in your head for more than a while!
I was a great dance song!
You guys need to do “don’t lose my number” and go into some older Genesis like “misunderstanding”, “turn it on again” and “mama”.
Brilliant Phil Collins nice to see Jay your sporting the flag of UK go on my son i salute you
One you guys haven't played yet is " Mama " with Genesis . You Guys are Awesome!! Keep doing what you do!! Jay & Amber , you're Special
Now THAT is how you do a cover❤️🎵❤️
Do love his cover of The Supreme's song!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
In the air tonight doesn't even crack the top 20 of my favorite Phil Collins songs.
The genius of Phil Collins is that he has a range of different styles of songs. This one is a great cover song that was a big dance hit back in the early 80's
He also did a cover of True Colors by:Cyndi Lauper.
Fun fact, there is a unique performance of Genesis where the band played a Phil Collins solo song and this song was You can't hurry love, this old Supremes cover.
He has so many hits! My favourite is "Mama" (with Genesis).
Phil was so big during the 80's. He can do slow ballads or fast rockin' tunes. Love this plus "Two Hearts", "Against All Odds", "Sussudio", "In The Air Tonight", "Easy Lover", "I Missed Again", "You Know And I Know", "Don't Lose My Number", "Who Said I Would", and "Separate Lives" to name a few!
Phil Collins videos everybody look forward to them because MTV first started and you never knew what he was gonna do and he loves to be funny. You can tell he has a great sense of humor. Thanks guys.
Phil also covered A Groovy kind of love ❤️ (from his movie Buster, with 'Mrs Wealsy - Julie Walters).
Another cool Phil hit is Easy Lover with Philip Bailey from Earth Wind & fire
Kathie says…My favorite Phil Collins songs is his “cover” of the mid 60s song GROOVY KIND OF LOVE performed by Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders. Phil recorded this song in the 80s and I instantly fell in love with his version. It is very different than the 60s version and I love them both…so much that I chose Phil’s version to be playing when my daughter walked me through our home to “give me away” to the Love Of My Life in marriage in 2012. 50 years of listening to GROOVY KIND OF LOVE had a specialness for me that I never knew could be possible. I would be so cool if you could play both versions on your program! They are both very different sounding.❤️
Love Phil Collins and he is doing a great cover of this song! ❤
Phil played drums in a progressive rock band but loved 50s Motown. Both a blessing and a curse to some Phil fans, especially later in his career.
You guys, speaking of the Supremes? Diana Ross had a hit in the 80's written by the Bee Gees called Chain Reaction. You can hear Barry doing the back vocals in it, it's such a great song.
Yes, it's basically a BeeGees song, isn't it? It was in that era between 1980 and 1987 when they wrote for other artists. But if they'd have recorded them, themselves, they would have had even more hits. Look at Islands In The Stream and Heartbreaker. I think they thought that people had had enough of them in the late 70s and kind of went into the background for a bit, until their 1987 album.
@@davidhuggan6315 I think they made a good choice writing for female performers in the 80's. They got to give those songs a more feminine dimension than if they wrote it for themselves. Woman In Love is a good example. And they got paid doing it.😉
@@v.j.3029 Very true 🙂
"Do you remember?" is an acutely sad song with the usual melodic genius of Phil Collins.
I feel so sorry for Diana!
Love me some Phil Collins! His concerts were so much fun 😁🎉❤
Going Back is an entire album of Motown covers and there's a live concert featuring the remaining original Funk Brothers sessions players from the original Motown days.
Phil Collins made a great cover of this Supremes classic!! It reached the top 10 in 1982!!
'Do You Remember' is my favourite Phil Collins song.
You guys have to do Genesis singing Land of Confusion. The coolest video ever which won several awards for best video. Definitely give it a try ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is a great Motown hit that Phil did a nice job with.
Groovy kind of love is another great cove by Phil
Another fantastic song by Phil Collins 😊
I love that Phil can start building the crescendo with crystal clear vocals, then he hits that grit in his voice at the peak and it just hits you right in the chest. He perfected it.
Being 52 this version is much more familiar to me than the original. Didn't even know that it was a cover when it came out (or who this guy named Phil Collins was for that matter).
I didn't appreciate this man enough when he was in his prime. I was too busy rocking to metal. I still love metal, but Phil is spectacular. I love these hits.
Haven't seen it mentioned in the comments but Phil did ALL the parts to this song himself. Instruments, drums, backup vocals, and lead vocals. Very talented man.
Phil Collins is wonderful. Loving the review. Loving the Paul shirt. Little bit of trivia: Phil Collins was in the crowd of the TV audience featured in the Beatles' first movie, A Hard Day's Night.
A brilliant cover of The Supremes' classic, and it really established Phil as a solo artist in the UK in the early 1980s, outside of his career with Genesis. He had already had a big hit with "In The Air Tonight", but this proved he wouldn't just be a one-hit wonder as a solo artist, and was his first solo number 1 at home.
Earth Wind and Fire "Got to Get You In To My Life" cover. Horns and all !
I love Phil Collins❤❤
Guys check out "Easy Lover" with Phillip Bailey (Earth Wind and Fire) & Phil Collins
I love this remake of the great Supreme's hit! Phil Collins is so talented!!💖💖
Something happened on the way to heaven is one from Prime Time Phil worth checking out...The arrangement in that song is so good ..Worth a look guys...Love your channel
You Can’t Hurry Love is actually a 1980s cover of a 1966 Supremes smash. You owe it to yourself to listen to the Motown original.
This is one of the only motown covers that properly encapsulates motown. He apparently has always just deeply loved motown so it's cool to hear that he kept it so period correct sounding (because let's face it, aside from how great all those songs were motown was also a sound, the way they aesthetically recorded and put it all together) so he nailed the proper sound but still put just enough of a spin on it to pay proper hommage but still make it his own.
