Every song of these guys looks like the soundtrack of a bar fight
What are ya talking about this is a love song!
Try bar room hero!
The fighting irish lol.
That’s what we do is drink and fight. I’m ready
I have often told people that Dropkick is what it would sound like if 15th century pirates got ahold of a bunch of instruments.
You cannot sing this song without a huge smile on your face ❤
me too
I remember when they played this song at their concert they would let all the chick's on stage. It was really fun! They toured with Sick of it All. Ahhhh I miss the good ol days.
I saw that one in the Westport area of Kansas City, Missouri(KCMO). At the Beaumont club(permanently closed now). SOIA we're still selling their original 86' concert T-shirts(I wish I'd bought a dozen!). Have a great St. Paddy's Day. Blessings be upon thee.
Here in 2024, singing loud & singing proud!
i was about to go to sleep but this song made me open a beer
Holy crap
Get some sleep man
I also wanted to comment on a 9 year old thread.
I used to pound Budwiesers and smoke Marlboros to this
Ya still feel that way about this song kid? 9 year old post? So what? I'm the 4th kid in on the back of boys on the docks. Was 16 in that pic and I just turned 40 in December. Now that's old
These guys never forget where they have come from. They were just shooting a video for our local 1199 SEIU in support of us hospital workers in Boston and MA! I wish you guys all the best.
I always remember they played a fans funeral after he died in Iraq. I can’t think of a single other band that would have done that. For that alone they earned fan for life.
I'm in local 1000
Underplayed and underappreciated. Great song. My favorite from Dropkick.
Ha! My uncle owned a bar when I was a little kid and my dad would take us down there a lot. Those kids playing cards in the back room made me laugh out loud because that was basically 85% of my childhood. I learned how to build a pint and break up a bar fight at Murphy's, two skills that will always be useful. New York Irish and Proud!
I know it's been 11 years, but I thought I'd mention that I had the same experience over here in Scotland. Mum worked a bar at the local train station and I always hung out back after school. Cards, marbles or tig games were the way to pass the time. this was in the late 90s.
Hahaha that's awesome! Cheers 🍻🍀💚
Sounds like the stories my Dad tells me! New York Italian built from getting his father and uncles out of Bar Fights.
love DropKick Murphy they bring Celtic music to a new extreme
Happy Saint Patrick's Day 2023! Cheers from Vegas frens! 🍻🍻🍻🍀🍀🍀💚💚💚😄😄😄
What I love about the DKMs is that you can tell that they love what they're doing! We do too!

You're halfway to enlightenment, son. Further than most ever get.
It means that too much of a good thing (while it may kill you) is never enough!
A bar like that should be true heaven...
The tune Spicy is playing is "The Clumsy Lover" composed by Neil Dickie.

Dropkicks are Liverpool rebellion
@FengNing85 Head to Brighton. When I lived in Boston, we liked to drink at the Kells and the Common Ground. Ah, Sunday mornings at the Kells eating eggs and sausages, watching soccer, and drinking beer. Those were the days!
Reminds of the 5 biller I did in Maine.
She was a biggun.
Crossover Rancid/Lars+Dropkick = win.

Lyrics, i dare you xD
+Slavic Serbian 'll tell you a story, believe me it's true
a tale you'd best hope, never happens to you,
old spicy mcHaggis, how he met his fate,
you I can save, but for him it's too late
Spicy was big, burly and strong
his pipes were gigantic, and so was his schlong
from city to city running around
Always looking for chicks over four hundred pounds
One night at the pub a girl caught his eye
big as a house, just the right size
the broad was enormous, stacked to the hilt
spicy soon noticed a bulge in his kilt
the piper delivered his best pick-up line
thought to himself, "this beast is all mine"
the portly young lady could stand for no more
grabbed his cojones and went for the door
They got to her house and dimmed all the lights
Spicy was in for one hell of a night
he said that he loved her, he'd always be true
"But Mr. McHaggis, I've only just met you!!"
By now he saw double through his drunken eyes
neither had looks or appropriate size
he came to his senses, thought to himself,
"At this time of night I won't find nothing else"
he took off his shirt, she lifted her skirt,
they pulled out his unit and started to flirt
she asked for a glove, he gave her a shove,
had baby McHaggis nine months to-the-day.
SPICY! SPICY! SPICY! SPICY! SPICY! SPICY! SPICY! SPICY!

I like how you are all arguing about Ireland. >mfw this is an american band :S (source, a Scotsman)
Funny how it's background music is Scottland the Brave.
@Lil Provo if you listen to it carefully, it sounds like it.
it's actually a tune called "The Clumsy Lover" composed by Neil Dickie.
first time ive heard that song and its f'n awesome
I was at McMenamins last night for my 21st birthday, had to be at work by 10 today. This song just brightened my day.
Wonder what Marc Orrell was drinking in this. He was still a teenager back then.
Seems to me like he's holding a beer
2:26 Is that Lars Frederiksen?
Yes
Well doh
Off to see them first time live in Montreal in a few hours. Should be groin-grabbingly awesome~
ha! great video and song!
i dont get it. they are perfect together!
Oh.. And that movie "gangs of new york", was a modern interpretation from a non-Irish perspective of what happened. LEMME ASK YOU... What was Scorsese doing telling our story? In the movie the Irish gangs weren't acting Irish, they didn't speak Irish, didn't dress Irish, didn't feel Irish and they didn't have our self-righteousness, friendliness our big mouths or sense of fairness.
Why does Scorsese single out the Irish for attacking other nationalities? S.o. who knows the story shoud Remake it
I don't really understand? I thought he made us look pretty badass myself 🤷🏼♂️
@@bollweevil1976 Well, my views on the DropKick Murphy's song have mellowed a bit now.... that I can see it as an expression of it's own sort.
It's just ... I can't explain it. In fact Bollweevil, that's a really good question. I'm gonna have to do meditate on that.
It does look cool in hindsight as it's own thing... but just is different what I'd normally recognize as being Irish - even though I can hear it's probably based on the music of a traditional jig... So, I'll let that go.
But gangs of New York..?? Is that what you were asking about?
Yeah.. they looked tough... but you gotta remember that Ireland at the time was quite anti-racist, so having Irish people running through the streets of new york being racist was not a major part of the Irish story, when you consider that 20 to 25% of the entire New York population was Irish back then.
The Gangs of New York was gratuitously violent like an Italian mafia movie. The Italians at home were always displaced by their gangs and controlled at the top, but the Irish were not like that. The Irish were controlled by the stories they told themselves. If there were Irish gangs, they would have had a plethora of reasons, motivations, explanations and all sorts of excuses for their tribal violence, and histories of grievances, because that's just how the Irish are - the big self-justification.
And if the gangs in New York descended from the poorest parts of Irish society, that means they were mostly from the country, not the city.. It would have given them an faulty idealism that made them vulnerable as gangs, but ferocious if crossed.
That's my 2 cents anyway
And I love Scorsese, the man is a fin genius.. I bow to his talent. It's just that there were contexts missing.
I love when the diaspora does music or movies - like the Australians did Black 47, it was excellently done.
@@emmetor yeah I was just talking about the movie been awhile since I've seen it but as far as them being racist from what I remembered from the movie I thought it was the natives being racist against the Irish but being an Irish American myself I have pretty much no knowledge of how they were and how they were portrayed so I really have no idea or a leg to stand on but yeah I was just talking about the movie✌️
My family is from Limerick and Derry and I have spent my entire life in southeast Tennessee I'm sure I will never get to see the motherland I'm sure I will never have the opportunity but I would absolutely love to and I would love to know a little of this history of our race of people they damn sure didn't get into it in school here that's for sure lol
GREAT video concept , I want to be in that bar!!! DK Murphy s you rock !!
