My dad Mathew Dilley is the bar room hero. He was the first base player in the band. Being his son (Michael dilley) he showed me the song about him. I busted with laughter after listening to the song. The tough part of him has never change but the booze has changed. He is on parole so he can't drink and he lives in Caldwell over a 100 miles from me who lives now with my mom's boyfriend's in mt.Vernon oregon.
My old band "The Truents" from NYC opened that show at the Middle East back in 98'. It was the record release party for Do or Die. We got invited by the band after we played w/ them at Brownies in NYC. Fun Times. Mike has our sticker on his jumpsuit in the video.
An amazing song loved them the most in the early years. Especially this album Mikes sole album

Im 12 and I grew up to this song, I will always love it. (:
In the 1950's Olympic parade the Irish-American shot putter whispered to the team Captain as they paraded past before the King of England, "if you tip that flag you won't live to see the light of morn". The world's immediate reaction rejecting tradition was disgraceful & called for a public apology. Later, when interviewed on International radio the Irish shot putter offered his explanation "This Flag was never intended to be tipped to an earthly King". The world agreed & flags aren't tipped.
hometown heroes ...
He's a legend in the bar with ever scar; fights a thousand bigger men, though he fights and loses, got all the bruises. will someone please step in?

Do or Die was incredible, probably my favorite DKM album. But Al Barr has done vocals on some of their best stuff, especially when casey hasn't drowned him out too much like he often does
Original.
And great.

@Trevor9849 Dropkick Murphys - Do or Die. There's a live version on another album, labelled: Live On St. Patrick's Day
This song plays in the closing credits of the National Geographic special called 'Restrepo.' If you been around US Infantry men it is very fitting that a documentary about them ends with a DKM song. RLTW
Everyone just chill and have a beer or five :)

The Irish Tradition has Always been to go the way of the peaceful warrior and they beat that into ya at an early age so no chance of a misunderstanding

@turboed06tc I love that Irish music is the only place on youtube you can be racist without getting thumbs-downs. Irish Pride Baby!
@MakingTimeInBoston Been 11 years since Boston, bro. I never knew they played Jaques. Bay Village, right? I have actually been in there. And I looked GOOD....lol..Over behind the old 57 theatre if memory serves. Seen the Murph's at Kinvara in Allston. Can't recall if it was Connelly's or Triple O in Southie. No matter. Still just as great in Las Vegas, where I spent the last decade. (did catch em at the Huntington out here a few years back)
i wish the audio matched up with the video so i could sing at the sing a long part better!
Heh. Us Irish boy's theme song.
@SK8FOREVER452 yes i heard this on restrepo

fuck i need a beer
@sk8freak3000 Actually the 'founders' of punk rock, could include Iggy and the Stooges, Johnny Cash, The Sex Pistols, and the Ramones. The Ramones may have been the first band to play a punk rock song, but I wouldn't say they are the sole founders of punk rock.
Get Blackout - it's awesome!
OI! from austria
Ireland forever
did you forget to bring your brain to youtube today?
CHEERS!
Oi!
I agree with TheCeltic1985 and croftisia, Blackout is a good album. I'd also recommend Sing Loud, Sing Proud, which has some good tracks (the video for "The Gauntlet" is up on UA-cam if you want to check that out).
Does anyone know where you can view the video for Barroom Hero where the audio and video are in sync?
@chisox100 30th of august im going to see them i cant wait there sick

First Dropkick Murphy's song I ever heard. Changed my damn life!!!! Thank you Mike Crawford from Tulsa!!! I owe ya one😁🍀
The first Dropkick murphy song i ever heard was shipping up to boston, but this, is by far, my favorite.
