Love seeing the lambs outside enjoying themselves!!! It's hard to find undesirable traits in your lambs, I find myself critiquing them as I watch!😂 You are training us well Lynn!!! Stay warm and stay safe!!!
I hope they are improving each season! We are constantly critiquing or maybe admiring 😆 the lambs. I think we are actually quite tough on our own sheep in judging them. But if course we love them all too!😅🙂
One of the bonuses of allowing the lambs to range, explore and exercise outside at this time is they will gain the maturity, confidence and ability to move as a group in preparation for the time when they are weaned and moved to another barn. They become more familiar with the farm layout.
Excellent compare and contrast on the lambs! It was so funny when you were reviewing the lamb laying on the box and he exploded off the box!! The colder weather has really energized the lambs. So fun to watch! We're starting to see lots of baby bumps on the ewes........it won't be long now! Have a great weekend!
Love the lamb races. They have so much fun. The evaluation of the Dorset’s was very informative. I had a pet Dorset named Susie when I was growing up. She would go for walks with me on her leash. Most of the town knew Susie
@@EwetopiaFarms Susie was clean faced. Her ears had wool on them. I don’t have a good photo of her legs. She lambed well. Susie was around over 60 years ago.
Good morning Arnie and Lynn. You had more snow and we are getting some more snow today. The lambs were having quite the time running in the yard today. It is so much fun to watch. They are happy just being alive. Thank you for explaining what you are looking for in both the rams and the girls. Looks like you have done real keepers in the group and why you have repeat customers wanting your sheep. And as usual the boys like to have you visit them. You are so cute sitting with them. Arnie is so handy fixing the drinker and the gates etc. you to make a great team. Hugs to you both. 🥰🥰🥰
They’re being true sheep running outside. Sliding and falling is the fun part! Your video was the happiest part of my morning. I had an idea for a video topic if your ever stuck for an idea. Could you discuss sheep sounds and communication? You’ve mentioned a few noises. In past videos but maybe like a montage so a new sheep farmer would know what they’re sheep are trying to say. And it’s super cold down here, can’t imagine how cold it is up there. Take care.
Hi, Lynne, great video and so informative. If I had the land and lived in Canada, I know I''d be on a waiting list for all the little runty, not what your looking for lambs you couldn't use and give them the best life ever as pets! If only... I also think you right in trying to get the right look for the Dorsets, although all you sheep are stunning! see you tomorrow xx
Thanks Deborah. It's funny how those little misfits do capture your heart!. I am usually able to find pet homes for the females. Males are tougher but I did manage to get a few of them into pet homes too. Thanks for watching. Where are you from?
Yea for wooly ears! Wonderful seeing the lambs racing around outside. Thank you for clarifying about the knock knees, to me they didn’t look right, but don’t have a sheep background.
Yes, conformation I find is obvious to most people even if they don't have a background with animals. If something doesn't look right, you can usually tell especially when there are good ones around as comparisons. The problem is when all of someone's sheep have bad legs. Then they may not understand what good legs look like or understand how that fault usually carries on throughout the whole animal.
I just saw this short video about cleaning the wax from Babydoll Southdown ears. Apparently they need it done for them because they have wooly ears. Do wooly-eared Dorsets need the same care? ua-cam.com/video/9-MdsBRlS9Y/v-deo.html
Thanks! I’d never seen that ear-cleaning routine before so that makes sense. It looks very exciting to do but I don’t think I’d want a sheep that needs to be chained to a stanchion to be groomed.
… though these folks don’t do that. They just clean the ears while they shear them. ua-cam.com/users/shortsBFLtqOBMH4A?feature=share I guess some people are just weird.

That is awesome! So where are you from and what type of Dorset was she now that you've heard our descriptions of them?

No they don't. The wool is only around the top of the ears not inside them

@@alisoncummins2726 yes, sheep farmers have enough to do already!😆🙂
Conformation on good sheep is very similar to good conformation on horses. Lol
Absolutely. It goes for all animals!🙂
