    It absolutely isn't malicious, its incompetence and laziness.
    It becomes malicious when you send them the documentation that they already received prior to the import, that was also included in the package, and challenge their seizure and they still don't bother to read any of the paperwork.
    It then becomes cowardice and finally shame and admittance when you get a solicitor to send them some expensive letterhead clearly outlining every single violation of their own regulations and the law they've committed in their incompetence and laziness.
    The move to rename from Customs to Border Force has absolutely been a net negative for the organisation as a whole and any dealings they have with the people they should be serving but aren't.

      It's annoying, I can own a dagger no problem but I can't import one.. go figure. I have a mate trying to import bayonets from Italy, over there a bayonet is a firearm. He has to negotiate with the Italian consulate and ambassador for the import of historical firearms... or a box of knives

      @@pointynotsharpyou must be in Qld. Can't own daggers in Vic. Had my own issues with Border Force seizing stuff. Confiscated an assisted opening knife. Blade was only one inch long. @Christoph1888 probably because those items are prohibited in other states. Flick knives, are prohibited weapons in NSW and rifles fitted with a folding stock are prohibited firearms. I just wish we had standardised laws Australia wide sometimes, it would make life so much easier

    • @Christoph1888
      @Christoph1888 9 днів тому +1

      @pointynotsharp folding stocks are only banned in nsw. Firearm components like stocks, scopes, bipods don't even need a gun licence as it's the functional componets of fireamrs that are restricted (barrels, recievers, triggers). None of this stuff should be banned. Border Force are often difficult needlessly. They are despised in the firearms community. We are a Federation, they should have no say, it should be up to the states respective authorities.

    I find the dismissal of the officers actions "as just doing their job" alien and bizarre, I have encountered plenty of capricious and petty border officers. Officers are individuals with training, paid for important duties and responsibilities, not a collective of hapless bureaucrats, corruption and incompetence should be challenged at every step otherwise you will end up a 3rd world country

      Last year a Militaria collector in Australia purchased an original Allgemeine SS officers great coat from a US dealer. (This was before the ban on buying selling importing or exchanging ANY item that bears or depicts a swastika or NAZI symbology, I'm not making that up either). Must have cost a fortune. When the package arrived at his house, he opened it to find it had been slashed to ribbons with some kind of box cutter. The insurance investigation established the vandalism would have most likely occurred upon entry into the country. Either Border farce or AQUIS being the most probable suspects.

      This raises things to a new (disturbing) level. Border Force and Australia Post have some sort of symbiotic relationship at the entry point, so could have been either.
