I'm making a bowl out of sapele and I've tried three times from 60 and can not get scratches out.....help

I think 60 grit might be too rough and your getting 60 grit scratches try starting with 100 grit

Thanks for another informative video Earl. Do you have any suggestions on sanding the inside of an open segment bowl or vessel without the sandpaper catching in the gaps between the segments?

Not really, I wrap the sandpaper aroynd a sponge and still get some catches

Also I turn and sand the inside is I work my way up the turning so I never have to reach too far into the turning

Thanks Earl, what are you using as a “backing” for the sandpaper you are using in your hand?

An old sanding sponge with no grit left on it, pieces of old flip flops work good also
