    Hi my name is Carl Jacobson,
    I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together. We also do a lot of epoxy projects as well as woodturning.

    I surprised myself by watching a video about sanding! Lol! Good info, I do pretty much all my wet sanding with walnut oil, but I get mine from the grocery store. It works great and makes my hands feel good! Thanks for sharing Carl.
    Take care, Dave

    I think the oil finish is beautiful. Yes I like shiny too but some of the finishes people use can look like a shrink wrap plastic finish and even feel like plastic. The warm glow is what makes the pieces. I use Ack's sanding paste and restoring paste. It is shiny but you still feel the feel of the beautiful wood.

    Thanks Carl, I have often sanded with walnut oil but found that it would dull without a finish and was unsure of how to then proceed. I now know how long to wait and that I can apply a finish on top.

    Thank you so much for showing how you are sanding. Most turners never show this step and so you are always left wondering how they do it. Do you always use sandpaper or do you sometimes use Abranet? Do you clean Abranet since it lasts longer? Thank you.

    • @CarlJacobson
      @CarlJacobson  Рік тому

      I use Abranet and yes clean it with soap and water.

    Pens Plus reminds me of the OB Shine Juice Braxton used. does it work and feel the same or similar as that?

    Do you use up more sandpaper with the oil sanding? My local stores don't carry the mesh sandpaper. Will it still work with the regular types?

    • @CarlJacobson
      @CarlJacobson  Рік тому +1

      It lubricate the sandpaper so you use less. It doesn't work well with paper sandpaper.

  • @alandisomma-od5fz

    Carl. How do you clean the grit out of the abranet?

      Should have said after you sand with the walnut oil?

    • @CarlJacobson
      @CarlJacobson  Рік тому +1

      I just keep them and use them one the next project. Just apply more oil and it will clean itself out.
