  • A short video with a few details that might be of help.
I am sorry for the low volume? I seem to have lost it in the upload, however the sound does pick up the metallic notes, making as though I am being brutal with the conrod. In reality they are very light contacts with the crankcase and I would normally have a toilet roll cardboard centre slipped over to protect it!
To guide you through with little sound, I am talking about the recovery of damaged threads caused by the "stake" nut locking method and how to recover the resulting thread damage with a thread file including the rocking action of the file as you progress around the thread. I point out the damage from a serious piston failure and the debris caused. We have a replacement crank which is used, but very good. We look at the oil pump clearance of a maximum nominal 0.008" on the tip of the rotor and 0.010 on the outside dia of the rotor to casing. I note that thrust washers must not contact inner radii of their journals. We look at balance shaft timing with a scribed line on the shaft gear and a cast line in the crank (highlighted in white in the video). I discuss the use of an oilstone on all crankcase faces to remove light bruising and note to beware of excess silicone which can and does block internal oilways! I use Wellseal as a preference where practical.
I also point out the alignment of the selector drum dowel pointing to the selector fork shaft during fork assembly to allow engagement. Finally, there is a note to ensure that you arrange the gear shaft spline sleeves in the correct position and the dog mesh units as there are two different sorts in the shaft assembly.
I hope this helps, it has been too much work and upload time to simply delete this video.
    Thank you for watching..
