Hi Courtney! You are so incredible. I watch everything you post, and love learning about hair from you! I do wish you wouldn't get down on yourself for taking a longer time to explain things. The reason why we all watch you is because we love hearing you talk, and learning from you! You don't talk too much, and you don't take too long. You are my hair professor, and I am here to listen to your lecture
I would to hear more about your skin care routine!! I just recently got into the curly girl method by watching your videos, and I have been thinking that I need to do more for my face as well!! So thank you so much, and keep the great content coming! 😊💕
I would loooove that one and done styler video!! I am chronically ill, so the whole curly girl thing is super challenging for me.. I'd love to find some products that give me a decent look with less effort :)
PLEASE do a side by side of one and done products! I would love to see how the LUS one and done curly works in your hair! (Not the wavy version - the curly version apparently gives more definition)
Your videos are awesome! You are honest and genuine. Just started curly girl and can’t wait to see what my hair transforms into. Also after watching your skincare video I will now start using Derma E and rawskinceuticals. Please don’t ever stop making videos!! You make us all more beautiful!
Unlike hair products, silicones aren't a bad thing to have in skincare. Especially if you have oily skin (which I have also lol). They're an occlusive ingredient that helps prevent transepidermal water loss (i.e. It helps keep your skin retain moisture) and they are lightweight making it ideal for oily skin. I guess it just depends on how much silicone is in the product. Like I can't use silicone primers all over my face or it'll look greasy, but most of my moisturizers have dimethicone in them and they're fine. But silicones on skin is completely safe and easily removed with a cleanser. They're not comedogenic and not a common allergen, and not likely to cause skin issues including breakouts.
Hey, Courtney! I wanted to tell you. I did the hair analysis with My Mane Bio. I received my results the other day. It was amazing! I had no idea that my hair was damaged! Immediately began adding moisture treatments, protein & oil to my hair, especially the ends. Thank u so much for telling us about this company. Loved seeing your trash. Have a great weekend!
Curl Keeper Original is the one product I would NEED if left on a deserted island! No matter what, I can’t use too much! It has no hold whatsoever, but it turns my 2A-C curls into 3A/B! It’s is ever-so-slightly drying but I only notice in the winter. It is a Rock Star when combined with a hard hold gel and curl cream! If you can’t get your hands on it or run out and need it right away, you can use either KY Lube in a bottle, not tube (yes, you read that right) or Paul Mitchell Express Style Round Trip.
Your cleaning oil is supposed to take off your makeup and then you should follow up with a gel, mouse,or cream cleanser this might help with your acne problems 👍 and love you videos 🥰
I love your reviews! Every time I watch one of your reviews it makes me stick to the CG method. I think there is something very primitive in my brain that makes me fascinated in this natural hair journey. It’s almost an addiction. But a healthy one.
I don't know if you will see this since the video is older. New to Curly Girl and you are my go to gal. Love your videos. I cleanse my face with regular extra virgin olive oil and a microfiber cloth. When switching to oil initially, skin may break out but since you already cleanse with oil it may work for you. It is waaaay cheaper.
Courtney is RIGHT. Giovanni is very good. Their clarifying shampoo, the 50/50 one is so gentle, wow! I love it! Finally, a clarifying shampoo that doesn’t strip my hair and it’s budget friendly 💗
I have sensitive skin and mild rosacea. I found using products with licorice root extract really helps with redness. Azelaic acid is a great gentle exfoliant that I alternate with salicylic acid to help with my oily, congested skin. Paula’s choice BHA liquid and calm line are amaaaaazing!!! I’ve used cheaper salicylic acid and azelaic acid and more expensive Sephora products and find the PC the most effective. I also love the Eucerin redness relief night cream-it’s the most moisturizing night cream I can use without breaking out (it’s a cream gel). My usual night routine is using an oil to remove my makeup/sunscreen-I can use any (Burt’s bees, biossance, MAC, grape seed oil from the health food store), wash with cerave foaming cleanser, use PC BHA, calm serum, CeraVe PM lotion mixed with PC azelaic acid booster if using that that night, then the Eucerin cream. In the AM I just splash with water, use a hydrating serum, CeraVe PM and the calm lotion for oily skin (it’s a gel and is silicone based) and drink elephant sunscreen. I don’t use silicone on my hair but I do still use it in skincare to seal moisture into my skin.
Hi Courtney. Once again you taught me something. About the cons of using a ph wrong conditioner as leave in long term. I have been using the daily hydrating conditioner from Innersense as a leave in for months. I do have their regular leave in, but I have not fallen in love with it yet. Great content as always, and you do make me wanna try the Giovanni ! :) Thanks for the sotc. I did focus on your cast the whole video. So nice to see it scrunched out. How is the new haircut treating you? You did do a lot of chipping in to it. It looks beautiful. Love from Copenhagen
I LOL when you comment on how long you spend on a sidebar topic, but I LOVE that you do!! I'm learning so much about WHY things are good, or not, for my hair because you do this! Don't stop... really! :)
Hey Courtney! Cleaning oils are intended to be followed up with a regular gel cleanser, not to be used alone! Kind of like the whole rinse out vs leave in conditioner thing - they’re just formulated differently! I have very similar skin issues to you and I find that I breakout badly and experience irritation when I don’t follow my cleaning oil up with a regular cleanser. Personally I use the Vanicream cleanser (www.vanicream.com/product/vanicream-facial-cleanser) after my oil cleaner and it’s my favorite!
I loved this video. It was really helpful to see which products you’re repurchasing, which ones you’re not using anymore, and which you like but are willing to wait on. It helped me re-rank a few things I’m interested in trying.
I would love to see your "cabinet of shame" as well as your skin care routine (as I a fellow sensitive skin sufferer person). I enjoyed seeing your empties! I Love empties videos. They are just as information as your usual reviews! Especially knowing what you're going to repurchase and what didn't work in the long run. As well as "what not to do" with product combinations! :)
Hi Courtney - great video, as usual. I had an idea that I thought might work for some of your viewers. I attached my blow dryer/diffuser to my camera tripod using a stretchy cord. Now my hands are free to use my phone and watch your youtube videos while drying my hair! I find I get much better results on my wavy hair with diffusing, rather than air drying.
This has been an immense help! Having not just the standard review, but having the ones you just gravitate to normally, is a really good idea. Luckily my hair was already healthy, but I'm still in the experimental phase of curly products..
I also have very sensitive, highly reactive, acne-prone, rosacea skin. I'd love to know more about what you use. Right now, I use a lot of La Roche-Posay; and, it's better than anything else I've tried but there's room for improvement.
I definitely enjoyed going through your trash! I think this kind of video truly shows what you have been using and enjoying. Often, beauty videos show initial use of a product, not the long term effects. Hair and face treatments can take time to show real results. Also, I LOVE your channel! I used DevaCurl products for quite a while, and ended up with a sebhorrhoeic dermatitis outbreak on my scalp. My scalp burned and itched, I lost hair, and ended up losing some of the curl pattern in a couple of places. I had to start from scratch (no pun intended.) I was in a super low place with my hair, and it was time to take charge of what I was putting on my hair. That's when I found your channel. While my hair is slightly more curly than your's, we have very similar texture and hair situations. I have high porosity hair, but besides the DevaCurl debacle, it is generally pretty healthy. My hair gets a lot of build up if I don't wash frequently as well. It was as if God put this information in my path at the perfect moment to help me out of a bad place. Thank you! What a blessing you are!
I loved it. It was a great update to if you are still using them and would repurchase. Like I have some of those, but not all, so it lets me know whether to purchase one I have not bought yet.
Love this! Really love the idea of doing the side by side of the different stylers!! Thanks for all your helpful videos! You inspired me to get started on my own journey several months ago and now I am addicted. LOL
I LOVE the Curl Keeper Original. I used the smaller bottle twice and loved my results so much I had to buy the giant bottle. I’ve always topped it off with a gel after for hold, but now I need to try it on its own.
Love these product videos! I feel like my mind goes blank when I stare at the overwhelming wall of products at the store... I'm taking notes of what I want to try next!
Good tip about using the Giovanni smooth as silk conditioner as a cowash. I might have to try that. I love their tea tree shampoo but it can be too clarifying for frequent use. I'd love to see a comparison of one and done stylers!
I also love a lot of the Giovanni products. I think the Smooth as Silk shampoo and conditioner are my favs so far. I am on a journey to discover my favorites and pare down my huge stash of products.
Also, there's a few products I've tried recently that are really awesome if you're interested in trying something new. They are CG approved and contain hydrolyzed protein. Living Proof's "Full" shampoo and conditioner, and the Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind co-wash with quinoa. It's the only co-wash I've tried that has protein and doesn't overly moisturize my hair. I get hygral fatigue very easily so I gravitate towards protein the most.
I’d like videos on your skin care! Seeing how others manage their bodies is always fun to watch! Also, thank you for mentioning the As I Am cowash and that natural sunscreen. My scalp also gets the itchy bumps if I don’t wash every day or two and sunscreen is tricky. If I use the wrong type, my lips swell and crack (dermatologist told me what chemicals were causing it, but have forgotten 😅), so a natural option paired with a sun hat sounds wonderful!
Loved seeing what you use a lot and what you would purchase again. I do find myself thinking what was that product and which video was it in? Don't know if that is helpful. Can't wait until the next video.
Please do a one and done styler video! That would be very helpful. Please could you also do a video on which products are best for introducing protein. Ie. In a shampoo, conditioner, stylers or protein treatments.
I love a cleansing oil or cleansing balm to double cleanse at night. Gentle face wash in the AM and then cleansing oil/balm followed by the same gentle face wash in the PM. I don’t wear a ton of making daily but I do wear sunscreen daily so I like to make sure I get it off at night. Would love to see more skincare from you. Have you tried Korean skincare such as Krave Beauty? I love the concept of their simple, straightforward products and what the company stands for.
I loved this video! I feel like we learn so much more about a product once you have had time to use it a while...get your real-life perspective. Also, you are one of the few people who talks about the Giovanni line - I LOVE their stuff, I use the leave-in all the time, the deep condition sometimes and the LA Hold gel is a must for me (even if I sometimes struggle with the ge) but haven't figured out the foam yet. Thanks so much!
I would love love love to hear more about your current skin care routine!!! I’ve been super fascinated with cleansing my face with oils- I’ve tried jojoba oil, but haven’t branched out from that as far as oils go. It hasn’t ever made me break out and my skin is fairly sensitive.
Yes on one and done stylers! Any recs for someone doing same videos with curlier hair is love a comparison. I've been doing CGM almost 3 months and my curls are so much better there's just so many products out there I want to try them all
Buahaha, do I HAVE to? Hehe, I really think that is something that most people would not understand. I know you understand would but man! Not most people on the internet!
I can finger detangle with Elucence moisture shampoo. That’s the ONLY one that I’ve ever experienced that with. I enjoy going through your trash. It helps know what to try and perhaps avoid.
Hi Courtney , You mentioned in the video that you have a problem with the scalp , Check if your products that you use for cleaning your scalp have those ingredients Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone , cocamidopropyl betaine . They may cause irritation and sensitisation . I Love your videos 😍I only use your method now . Thank you for this 🥰
So the past couple of weeks I’ve started doing the cgm and watching tons of youtube video and reading pintrest articles (I dont have instagram), but this channel I’m obsessed with, defo the best one! Been going through and watching alllll your videos hah
If you wanna try a good protein treatment, the Mane Choice reconstructor is great! Tons of protein and you don't have to deep condition after!! They have it in a little kit on their website or by itself at Ulta.
Wow girl, you use a lot of product.😄 We started the CGM almost at the same time and I have only thrown away 3 empties. Thanks for experimenting on your hair for the sake of the rest of us.💓 Always informative and helpful.
Hey, Courtney, I love your videos. You’re so real and informative, plus you don’t take yourself too seriously. I have learned a boat load (the clean version of the Texas Metric System) from your videos, plus you entertain me. This video made me think of some products that I’ve recently bought, that either don’t work for my strange hair, or that have a slight scent that bothers my ultra sensitive nose. I know you say you have a sensitive nose, but, honey (yes, I’m a Texas girl too), I gotcha beat hands down in that department. I’m thinking of a particular high-end, natural line that I don’t think you’ve reviewed. I’ve got the whole line for fine curly/wavy hair. They’ve changed their scent for their shampoo/conditioner which is now citrusy (not a problem for me), but the styling products all have a slight scent that irritates my sinuses. So, I thought that you might like to try these products yourself, free of charge. If so, I’ll box them up and send them to you. If you’re interested, respond here, and I’ll reach out on FB to figure out logistics. Oh, and I enjoyed hearing about your skin care routine. Like with our hair, I have some of the same issues, but not all. My vote then is YES to a video on skincare products.
Oh, I’ve been wanting to try the curl keeper original! I love the curl keeper leave in and it detangles my hair amazingly and easily. I’m going to get it right away. It is nice that they have the small bottle that you can try first and it is all available in Canada. Thank you so much. Would love to see more about one and done and your comparison video.
Watch Dr Dray. She is a dermatologist in Texas. She has videos on Rosacea. All her advice is spot on and when I saw my dermatologist she acknowledged all the changes I did were spot on. She also uses a double cleanse method to help take off sunscreen. She also gives tons of review on sunscreens and cleansers/ moisturizers that are effective.
So.....your cleansing oil. You might like the Clinique Take the Day Off cleansing balm. It costs around 30 bucks but the tub is big and it lasts a long time. As in a few months. It comes as a solid but emulsifoes into an oil as you rub it on and does turn milky when you add water. It rinses very clean. I use it as a first cleanse but you probably could get away with using it solo. I follow it with tje Belif jelly cleanser.
Try vanicream skincare products have been a saving grace for my skin. I have compounding skin issues, eczema, dermatographism, autoimmune hives, abs extremely sensitive. My skin literally hates everything. Hope this is helpful!
I would love to see your skincare routine. I have rosacea too and oily skin. I currently use curology and it helps the acne but not so much the redness
Courtney! Thank you for all your videos. I’m about to try your flaxseed with gelatin recipe. So excited! ANYWAY. Summer is coming up and I remember last year your curls suffered from the UV exposure. Have you done research on UV Protectant products that you could share? I’ll be out in the garden this summer and would like to protect my hair. (I’ll wear a hat too). Thanks bunches!!
Really appreciate all of your videos - I just finished the two protein and moisture videos and purposely put my hair into moisture overload, which did not take much to do. Next wash I'm going to up the protein. Fingers crossed!
I like empties videos and find them very useful - lots of mini reviews in one place. I love skincare, but my skincare is very science/ingredient based. I have roseaces and eczema, but I'm much older with issues re menopause/aging. I use tretinoin, niacinamide, copper peptides and azelaic acid. I use a lot of korean beauty as it's good quality and affordable, with my prescription ingredients. My skin doesn't do with with fragrance/essential oils, which may be something to consider as you stated you also have rosacea. Just a thought. Be well and best wishes.
Ever since I started the curly girl method my hair felt really thin and my curls were becoming straight and I was on the curly girl method for about 8 months and I still don't see any difference so I went back to my sulfates and silicones and my curls bounced back and my hair grew thicker within 6 months. While I was on the curly girl method I used Shea moisture Jamaican oil line and I used not your mother's curl talk and I didn't see any difference, my hair color was dull, I had more split ends, alot of shedding and breakage, thinning hair hairline. I deep condition every week using the Shea moisture manuka honey and yogurt mask. And I didn't like it so I went back to my tresseme and Garnier fructus and my curls came back. At least I gave the curly girl method a try, I guess my hair reacts different from other people.
I've used other product lines like Maui moisture, soultanicals, mop top, not your mother's, basically I was trying different products every month to see if it makes a difference and my hair likes sulfates and silicones.
You are hilarious 😂 I love how you combine the chemical/science in products with the results you experienced and if you'll repurchase...and a lot of humor too😂💖 I'd love to see the one and done stylers video. Life is busy and short routines help me a lot! Thanks a TON 😊
I had good results mixing the neutral protein filler into the silicone free miracle mask from Shea moisture! Great mask on its own for looser curl patterns, but I too have really hungry hair!
Courtney, I've received my results from MyManeBio and like you, was told that I have "very healthy" LOW porosity hair! I was expecting to get the complete opposite results, especially since I get my hair highlighted at least 3 times a year. I've been reading and taking advice for fine, high porosity hair since I started my CGM journey in January. How did you unlearn the things you had already learned and switch your thinking to low porosity hair? I'm so confused & really struggling now!
I would recommend you to try Hemp seed oil As a makeup remover, oil cleansing and as a moisturiser. It is non- comodogenic so it is suitable for acne prone skin as it does not clog pores.
Hi Courtney! My favorite sunscreen is purito unscented sunscreen. I don't think it has silicones in it and has great stuff like Niacinamide in it! I got it for like $15 on Amazon and is super earth friendly (other than being on amazon)
Another very helpful video Courtney! I didn't think I would be interested in your skin care routine as I am 25 years older than you, however, I found it helpful since I have rosacea.
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting the Kinky Curly Curling Custard, I’ve just been nervous it’ll be too heavy for my hair. But I think I wanna try it out. Also I’d love to see your skin care routine!!
I found your channel about a week ago and thank you thank you thank you for all your tips! I am just starting the process. And it is a little frustrating but I keep reminding myself that it’s gonna get worse before it gets better😜.
Just wanted to drop a comment & be a creeper for a second 🤦♀️😂 I started watching your videos last month & I have really enjoyed all of them! During this super-duper weird time I needed something to be an escape & honestly watching all your videos has been just what I needed! I was interested in learning more about the CGM & when I came across your channel I'm hooked! I appreciate your details [I too am a detail person😁], I love how knowledgeable you are while still being light hearted, & it's great how you cover so many different topics. You're hair is GORGEOUS - I hate when you say it's barely wavy, like some cgm trolls have made you feel like your hair isn't good enough - it's glorious!😁😂so keep doing you, I'm gonna keep watching! I am figuring out what my hair can do & I had THE BEST HAIR DAY YET today!! After learning about protein from your channel😁👏👍
Definitely interested in you skincare routine!! I was fisrt addicted to skin care before I also start messing with my hair 😂. Btw japanese oil cleansers are great cleansers that emulsifies (when it turns creamy after contacting water). My favorite is from biore because it is cheap af but probs not great for sensitive skin because of fragrance. The fragrance free alternatives are hada labo and DHC cleansing oil (comes in big bottles and also affordable!!!). You can also check out Dr dray's yt channel for skincare tips and almost all her recommendations are cheap no BS products that honestly helped my skin alot. Sorry for the lengthy comment ✌️ love you and your vids ❤️
I love your reviews! Would love to see your “cabinet of shame!”
we at home toing school
See shows it in a video, that is Called something like: building your wash Day 😊
Build a curly girl wash Day *
Yes, please do the different stylers on different sides of your hair.
Would love to know more about your skincare! Your skin is always glowing! Great video, as always. I so look forward to your new posts!
Yay! Courtney, you are my go to person for wavy/curly hair tips. I have a very similar hair type and wave/curl. Thank you 🙏

The side by side video idea sounds great! I know it is a lot of work, so thank you in advance.
Definitely love the one and done stylers. It would be interesting to see a comparison video for them
I would love to hear about your skin care favorites. I have very problematic skin as well that doesn’t do well with silicones.
I'm sorry, but your HAIR IN THIS VIDEO IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFULLL! Thank you for listening to my tedtalk. Love you Courtney!!
I've been doing CGM almost 3 months and my curls are so much better there's just so many products out there I want to try them all
I’m so glad to see your curl keeper original results! Mine in on the way to me right now! I can’t wait to try it!
Can you do a video showing whats in your cabinet of shame please?
Buahaha, do I HAVE to? Hehe, I really think that is something that most people would not understand. I know you understand would but man! Not most people on the internet!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney show me yours and I'll show you mine!
Thank you for this 🥰
Yes, pl3ase do the skincare routine!
Yes to the 1 & done styler video !! 👏🏼
Your hair looks amazing. Btw I had to get rid of my kinky curly custard (which I love) because it started smelling weird, I repurchased. 😊
I love your idea to do a side by side of one-and-done stylers!

Yes to one and done styler videos!!
I find the Ayurvedic products like bounce curl so nourishing. I love Amla and hibiscus in products. I’ll check it out.
Great video! Just went and bought the Rosacea sampler pack to see what I like best - very economical! Thanks!
Seriously, this might be the best I've ever seen your hair! What did you do?
See, now all I had to do was wait until the end of the video lol
At least I gave the curly girl method a try, I guess my hair reacts different from other people.
well if you’re using 1 combination of products for 8 months...
I had to laugh. When the video started I thought “she looks like she needs to SOTC.”
Liked this one it showed which you really do like enough to repurchase.
You're not alone. I'm dealing with the same thing!
I would recommend you to try Hemp seed oil
As a makeup remover, oil cleansing and as a moisturiser.
I would have thought that the smooth as silk has a lot of protein. how high up the ingrediens list does it have to be to be a lot?
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting the Kinky Curly Curling Custard, I’ve just been nervous it’ll be too heavy for my hair. But I think I wanna try it out.
Also I’d love to see your skin care routine!!
Please share more on that oil you use for your skin and how you use it. We seem to have a very similar skin type!
Rose oil is the only thing I put on my face now - so amazing!!
Yes yes yes to your single styler plan!
I found your channel about a week ago and thank you thank you thank you for all your tips! I am just starting the process. And it is a little frustrating but I keep reminding myself that it’s gonna get worse before it gets better😜.
Please show your skincare routine!!! It will be so helpful
I also have rosacea and would love to know more about your skin and makeup products.
I'm going to cry when I run out of the Giovanni gel. That is my HG right there!
I’m dying to know all your skincare secrets and routine
I would love info on your skincare routine! Also, what eye shadow are you wearing? It's so pretty!!
I would love to see your current face care routine! How did you oil cleanse with the derma e?
Yes! You need to do your new skin care routine!!😍🤗
