Hi David.... yeah it freaked me out too... I didn’t know Duane at that time ... James Burton brought him to the Nashville store grand opening Oct... 1996. After that day it was like we had known each other for life. Great guy... his wife Deed too. He called me three days ago and told me he recorded a record with Johnny Cash this year!! He put his guitar on a older unreleased song. It debuted this week in England so at age 82 Duane has a new single! Thanks again for watching... Joe
Wow, another great interview with a legend! Joe, great story about Les Paul signing your 53 Les Paul pick guard. WOW again a 1953 Les Paul? Man, Joe do you still own it?
I got to meet Les at Solid Gold McDonalds in Milwaukee and he signed a picture for me. Years later I met his son Rusty at Les' wake at Discovery World.
We had the original yellow and blue labeled Jamie single for Ramrod then the later ones for Forty Miles Of Bad Road and such. Just a tyke of 3 or so (born in '57). Great diffusion between Chester and Lester "I got a Guild''. Neutral territory :)
The first record of Duane's I ever heard was a 45....Mason Dixon Lion....(with the lion roar at the beginning). That song and all his early Jaimie hits sounded magical to me then....still do.
I remember going to see Duane at the Finsbury Park Empire near where I lived at the time in London in the late 1950's, great show, and I remember he had a great Sax player in his Band. In the interview here Duane said something that made me smile 'Bob's your Uncle', a very British saying I bet he picked up over here.
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum I remember now, it was Jim Horn!! I watch all your videos with interest as I have been a singer/songwriter all my life (you can catch up with me on line when you have time). I had my first Band in 1957, and in my time I have met and worked with some of the people who inspired me such as Gene Vincent, Bill Haley, The Rev' Al Green, Jimmy Reed, Sony Boy Williamson, and a few more. I was also the 'ghost writer' for the Dave Clark Five, and wrote (on my own) some of their hits such as Bit's and pieces, Because, Anyway you want it, thinking of you Baby, and a few album tracks and B sides.
Ron.... I bought a black Vox teardrop guitar belonging to Denis Payton for our museum. I would like more DC5 instruments etc. to exhibit... so Ron... did you get paid royalties or did you never get credit! Thanks for watching our videos and sharing your comments... My email is joe@musicianshalloffame.com Best, Joe
Les Paul was a wonderful man. His son Rusty was also very friendly. Met Les at his gig at the Irridium Club. He signed my DVD of Chasing Sound. Rusty was also there and we had a conversation about Mahwah, NJ. I later met a cop friend of the Paul's that kept an eye out for them during the winter. Les gave the officer a bunch of items as a token of gratitude. The cop takes them around and does seminars now and then. The officer shows you all original artifacts from Les Paul, that Les gave to him- guitars, amps, inventions-you name it. You can even play some of the instruments after the seminar. Quite cool! Look him up on facebook as lespaulstarttofinish.
Met Duane in Nashville, offered to loan him my Stratocaster to sit in with the band. He turned it down saying he doesn’t play guitars like that, strings too light. Now I have a collection of Gretsches, one belonged to Chet Atkins.
Les signed my purple sparkle Epi Les Paul. Only signature I ever ...well Dick Dale signed my strat, but it rubbed off before I put nail polish on it... I'll always keep the Les Paul
I was watching that episode he is talking about I thought les had some ill will towards Chet Ive seen them together since the 70s Ive heard chet speak kindly to les when they are on the same stage Ive never heard Les return the compliment
Hi Bill…. I spoke to both Les and Chet about the other and there was always a close friendship between them. Chet was a bit more laid back than Les and I’m sure there was a friendly competition there too. Chet got Les playing again and did the Chester and Lester album which won them a Grammy. Thanks for watching… best, Joe
Yes Chet got Les back in the game I was 1st kid in school to get Chester and Lester Les said on the grammy win all he got was a little glass boot I saw him hold the boot when he said it Have you heard Chet and Merle in 74 that also won a grammy I wonder if a little glass boot is all Merle got !
These videos are treasures.
One thing all these men have in common besides great music, not of them had a bad word to say against Chet. God bless you Joe. From Ireland 🇮🇪.
How could anyone say a bad thing about Chet? It's seemingly impossible!
I had never got to hear Duane Eddy this much and I just loved his music! This is great seeing and hearing him.
Thanks for watching Dottie...Joe
What a legend. And its so neat that he showed up in support of when you opened your guitar store. I really love these interviews 👍🏻😎

Duane Eddy Class Act.
And a humble man.
Not clickbait folks. Another great interview Joe.
Does Chambers ever shut up ? Duane Eddy trying to talk and Chambers interrupts constantly. Shut up and let the star speak !
I think Joe could teach a class on how to properly interview someone
i know I am kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Ronin Gordon i use flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Elon Kamden yup, I have been watching on Flixzone for since march myself :D

it is so sad that so many guitar players had or have problems with their hands
There has never been a better sounding electric guitar than the Gretsch Tennessean or The Country Gentleman.
Cool !

Digital Brand, Damn that is awesome. I have to put 12’s on my Strat because the butter will plain melt otherwise.
Les signed my purple sparkle Epi Les Paul. Only signature I ever ...well Dick Dale signed my strat, but it rubbed off before I put nail polish on it... I'll always keep the Les Paul

My Dad named me Duane because he loved Duane Eddy's music in 1966.........sure had a lot of Duane the bathtub jokes though.................

Les had a great sense of humor as did Chet. I actually bought the Les Paul Les used on Chester and Lester…. Best, Joe
Back in the late 1950's.. if the United States of America could pick up a giant guitar? It would sound like Duane Eddy.
Thanks for watching Genez....Joe
