    Hi Darren. Thanks for sharing this information, great video as always. As I'm preparing for my upcoming interview at Monash, I wanted to clarify regarding a part of the video.
    You mentioned that there is no leeway with timing. Does this mean that as soon as your 8 minutes are up for one station, you will be shifted to the next breakout room right away and your 2 minutes reading time will start instantly? Is there no time in between for them to maybe paste the prompt in the chat, or really just to say "good morning"s? Just clarifying as I feel this is a bit strange, one minute you are responding to one prompt and the next you're suddenly in the next breakout room.
    Also, would you advice I greet the interviewers or will they typically engage first? How did it go for you, if you can recall?
    Thanks for everything, honestly your videos both here and on Medify are so informative and helpful. Wish you all the best with your journey as a future doctor :D

      Hey Sanhita! No worries, thanks for supporting the videos here and on Medify.
      Yep you are shifted immediately - I think they have a timer on so everything is automated. I remember greeting the examiners, it’s just natural to say hi - but how in detail you go after that is up to you.
      A spoken interview is a bit different to a maths exam, so I think the half a minute it takes to chat/share the prompt isn’t a huge issue.

    hi so in the 2 mins we just read the prompt. like no questions will be on the screen? and then the interviewer will ask all 5 of them verbally in the 8 minutes right

    Hey @Darren Tan,
    Are you willing to share more of your mainstream english essays that you completed during VCE? I need inspiration; a new writing style for my text responses and creative pieces. I know that you have uploaded multiple essays already. But is there anywhere else where i can access the other english essays you wrote? Thank you

      Hey Dontal! I may be analysing some in future videos, otherwise I am selling my essays in packages for each section

    Hey Darren, when do you recommend is a good time to start preparing for the interview? Did you start after year 12 ended or integrated some preparation throughout year 12?

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  Рік тому +1

      Hi Neel! I reckon evaluate your public speaking/interview skills and go from there. I had a strong public speaking background so I started preparing a couple weeks before the interview, and after my VCE exams. Generally, I think it’d be good to have some exposure, practice and just learn about the different types of medical interviews throughout the year, and start intensively practising a month out. I’m not sure whether it will clash with Yr 12 prep cos it depends on whether you’re first/second round + my year was a bit messed up with covid.

    Hey Darren, do you know approximately how many interstate applicant spots there are available? I'm from Perth and will hopefully be sitting the interview in mid-late Jan. Thanks! :)

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  Рік тому

      Hey Josh! From what a friend has told me, the interstate applicants are bunched together with the VIC applicants, so there aren’t a set number of ‘spots’ for you guys. Good luck for your interview!

    Hey @Darren Tan ,
    Can you give advice on how you improved your vocabulary and fluency for english? I'm going into yr 11 next year, and I have no clue on how to improve on my english. I'm doing mainstream btw. Thank you.

      With vocab since you’re in Yr 11 try some quizlets for vocab and then incorporate words into your essays. A really, really good way is also to try substitute words for better ones when you write your practice essays, especially words that you’ll commonly use for your texts.

      As with fluency, highly recommend having shorter and clearer sentences. Better to even just use one sentence to introduce a quote, rather than having a really long convoluted sentence with many clauses.

      If you’re successful you’ll receive an offer for the course. You won’t find out your exact scores for your interview though
