Excellent, good to get started early. The longer you spend time in any given activity the more likely you are to emerge as a leader there and find new ideas to expand the activity. That's what sets your typical applicant apart from the best. Most people participate, few can lead and develop.
Informative video! So worry that I'm in grade 11 with no extracurriculars. What would you suggest I do in the one year I have left? Besides no curriculum I love to do crochet , art and being with animal. Sometimes I do write my thoughts.
Volunteering is often a good choice if you haven't done much else. Maybe you could volunteer at a local animal shelter. You don't have to have "official" activities, even just going to a park to pick up trash would qualify.
I have several accomplishments in athletic, academic, and community engagement. However, I cannot do anything about the artistic activity, because I am in my senior year and have got no talent and time to develope it. Can you suggest anything?
Art doesn't just have to be about "fine arts", perhaps a better way to express it would be a creative activity. I consider my video editing for example to count. Some people like photography or write in their free time. But also, if you don't really have a lot of artistic talent, that's okay. Focus more on the stuff you really like. But if there's an artistic/creative thing you've always wanted to try, go do that!
I've played flute for 10 years, been in band for four. Did research at my local university on biology, (dont wanna share which part of bio) I have 200+ community service hours I did swimming, soccer, basketball, and marching band over the summer of all four of my years how am I looking so far? what else should I do?
That's awesome, at this point I'd say you really just want to focus on things related to your major or whatever you've always loved most or what you want to try out. You've got a bit of everything.
Thanks! And yes, don't be afraid to participate. You can be a total noob and still get into clubs and even sports. You don't necessarily have to be a starter on a varsity team. Half the fun of these activities is learning new things and meeting new people so even if you know NOTHING about it, I guarantee people will be excited to show you what they know and help you catch up.
@@score-yourcollegecounselor I missed out on sports opportunities this year. Although, I am in clubs such as student council, HAB club(where we create a small machine that flies in the sky), chess club and I’ll be joining earth club! I would like to volunteer and also do fun activities on the side.
Oh awesome yeah you're getting a lot of cool stuff in, HAB sounds super interesting. Definitely add some volunteering to the mix, if you're not sure where to go honestly you can always find things to do to help out at food banks or fire stations, they can always use a hand. Or organize collections to help your teachers pay for stuff (they'll appreciate it and it's good for your letters of recommendation 😉) Esports counts as sports these days too, universities are even giving sports scholarships for esports so if there's a game you like start a club around it or join one.
Andrew!!!! This is amazing info!!! I am definetly going to share it !
That's what it's made for! If it makes your job easier, even better :)
My son is in grade 4 and he already has 7 types of extra curriculum

Amazing video. I don’t think I may join a few activities cuz I don’t have enough experience. Should I still tryout for extracurricular activities?
