This is a quick simple snack that i make for the fall parties
They are very easy and delicious
MEAT FILLING
1 lb ground beef
2 tsp small minced onions
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp chili powder
2 tsp light brown sugar
salt and pepper to taste

As for washing my ground meat,, no I do not,, I don't wash any meat,, unless I drop it on the floor,, I also use that 5 second rule too,,, I just say what you say Chef,, "that's just extra flavor" or I might just say "BAM" you know,, like what's his name,,, 🤣🤣🤣

Most people (especially black) wash theirs, because it was a lot of self slaughtered food that they ate back in the day. So, they'd wash off the blood and anything that may have gotten on the meat during that process, prior to storing it. It just got passed down...if it ain't broke, don't fix it kinda thing

I love using those empanada wrappers that you have. I make fried pies & empanadas with them, makes it so easy.
I'm curious. If you can't find the empanada dough could you use the Pillsbury cut out dough or is that too thin?

I think most people don't wash ground meat in general because it will break apart in water and make a mess. Processing companies may or may not wash meats before grounding. That being said, I wash my chicken, beef, pork, venison, veal, turkey and everything else I eat. It's something my parents, grandparents and everybody else always did. I'm sure you mother and grandmother washed their meats before cooking.
Empanadas are great! I dont wash my ground beef. I do my steaks, roasts. Risk of cross-contamination, but Im sticking to it! Im going to get out a couple of tortillas, add my Mexican cheese blend, heat then add hotsauce. Bam, easy and good too! 😉 Have a great day 🙏💕

Chef these look great! I say the same thing about washing meats. I'd never done it before internet, I asked myself the same question and when i realized why, I stopped. The same goes for removing the membrane from ribs, not necessary!!

How funny that you posted this; the night b4 last my sister and I got on the subject of washing meat (or not), and she and her friend were talking about it earlier this month. Your "food for thought" made such sense. I've never washed any type of ground meat, but I do rinse off steaks, roasts, fish, chicken parts and any cut of pork except bacon, salt pork, & hocks. Why? My answer which isn't that good, is "just because" 😂. AND just last night we were talking about empanadas, which I've never had! Your recipe is so darned simple, on top of that I didn't know you could buy empanada dough! I just thought if I ever was going to make them I'd have to make dough, which I never have, or cut up ready-made pie dough. Your The Best, Chef, for posting recipes and cooking tips! U do not wash ground meat in general. Apple and oranges. Whole meat pieces are different than ground meat.
If the meat is being cooked. No I don't wash it. Cross contamination is real. I used to was my chicken years ago but I'm a little too wild in the kitchen. That chicken juice was everywhere, lol 😆
Good morning Chef. I love your recipe for beef empanadas.This recipe is easy and simple to make. I was taught to wash chicken and all the meats. It is really hard to break that habit. I did try to wash ground beef one time and it kinda disintegrated.Those empanadas look delicious .Have a blessed and prosperous day ❤
