  • Hey guys! Last week, my son and I were able to visit the Flash Mountain Crystal Mine located in N. Little Rock, Arkansas. We were honored to be able to dig with the legendary Justin Baird who gave us insight on spotting new veins and some best practices for extracting crystals out of the wall.
    Flash Mountain is a wonderful mine that is still pretty new to the public for mining, with a lot of virgin ground that has yet to be explored. I highly recommend it if you are ever considering a visit! Contact info for the mine, and for following Justin are below:

    I have really enjoyed watching over your shoulder. You seem like a gentle soul, and my best guess is that you’re a good daddy. Take care.

      Those are beautiful! I haven’t heard of solution quartz! Gonna ask Dr Google for more info. How do you get them so clean? I’ve had a geode with beautiful crystals inside that I soaked for 3 weeks in vinegar, and I can’t get the dark clay off. Thanks for the video! Very fun!! (Oh, sorry, one more thing: does it take a lot of strength to break into the rocks? Or just repetitive hitting? I’d love to go, but I’m not exactly in the prime of life. 😏)

    Really a nice haul. I especially liked those smaller clusters and the singles with smaller ones attached. If you get that many specimens in a day I can only imagine what your cellar looks like at the end of the season. My wife wouldn't let me keep everything upstairs so I had things spread all over the cellar floor.

      And yes, my wife doesn’t like the amount of rocks we have at our house. 🤣

      We had such a great time! It was so peaceful up there on the mountain...the leaves starting to change, birds chirping, perfect temp out...we didn't want to leave!

    We went today, its unfortunate that our experience was nothing like this. They had us at the very top and the digging was no where near the same. Super disappointing. We probably wont make time to ever go back there. BUT we definitely enjoyed watching the video of your experience!

    I really want to go to this place! I love those unique crystals!!! Are you coming to Haunted Ridge in November? I hope so but if not whatever I AM eventually going to your area. LOL Lot of unexpected expenses this year! But I'm back to saving a little so it'll happen hopefully this spring.

      Hello, Dustin!! I'm not sure about coming to Haunted Ridge or not...I may be doing a show. Like you, there are a lot of unexpected expenses for me as well, so I need to sell a few pieces to make some money...you know, so I can go out to rockhound some more. LOL

    Wow I like his place better than Coleman’s. Do you? ❤

      They both have their pros and cons, which very mine does, to be honest. It just depends on what type of experience you want to go for. If I want the more intricate crystals with points going every which way, then Flash Mountain is your place. If you want a huge statement piece that weighs 150 pounds, then Ron Coleman will be about your best bet for something like that. 👍

    How much is it go dig there in going to ar in April

    • @joedadbod8450
      @joedadbod8450  6 місяців тому

      It was $45 last I went, and after taxes it was just under $50.
      With the economy being so bad the past couple of years and everyone raising prices, I’m not sure if the prices will stay the same by this spring.
      It’s more than worth it though, you can dig crystals right out of a vein there if you find one, and they’re beautiful pieces too.

    Do you sell those if so do you have a link?

    • @joedadbod8450
      @joedadbod8450  4 місяці тому

      I used to put crystals up on my eBay, but I haven’t been doing that for a while now. I typically sell some of my finds at some shows so I can try to recover my expenses for mining. I have a few shows coming up just about every weekend in April.
      If you want, you can send me an email to Joe.dadbodadventures@gmail.com with what you might be interested in and how much you would want to spend, and I would be happy to ship you whatever you would like later this week. Some pieces from this video may no longer be available though…

    Don't understand Quarts. I think it's the most Comen minerals, yet people still think its valuable.

    • @dustinfindsrocks
      @dustinfindsrocks 9 місяців тому

      Large nice crystals aren't very common. People pay good money for flowers with THORNS all over the stems. Quartz the mineral is common yes ,but some crystal formations are very rare and unique.
