adding this after i grinded the F-16AJ using the T-2, F-1 and the F-4EJ feels like an insult
As someone who got the F-86 to grind for the F-1, then the EJ Kai while it was still in its glory days, the F-16AJ and is close to the F-15… it feels like dessert after a main course to me
I'm literally in the exact same boat, just gonna use it to unlock the F-2 or F-15J Kai when those are added, or if they add a sub-tree to Japan.
T2 is really good for its br, just being flareless kills long term survivability. The f-4ej almost made me quit the game though.
@@TruthAndReconciliation Yeah T-2 was actually fun, just had to be extra aware of your surroundings and load a couple rocket pods if you dare head-on an all-aspect jet.
F-4EJ was just depressing, I got maybe 5 kills from the radar missiles, maybe 30-40 kills from the IR missiles, and the rest were from using gun pods in head-ons.
Well... I'm about to unlock f4-e and start grinding f-16. If they add it before f16 I'm gonna be mad.

If the F-5E were to go back to 11.0, I think it would be nice if they gave it the Aim-9P-4, if it was historically compatible
they need to do that for the F-4J and F-4S as well. F-4S is actually probably capable of taking 9Ls.
The standard F5E carried AIM9 L/M not Ps.

I like the fact that the first F5E to ever be produced (the pré production model) is still on active service on Brazil as an modernized F5 - EM, it blows my mind.

DEFYN actually is very good, but he was fightings very bad players in this 1v9 game. Mig23 didn't even use wing sweep and loss all of energy advantage immediately. F16 is a console player...

It basically is, just minus the SL boost. But you can use the f86 to get a lot of SL

NO MORE T-2 EARLY SUFFERING
For anyone that doesn’t know, the F4EJ ADTW can take min fuel and the drop tank (drop tank fuel doesn’t slow you down for some reason and you have the Vulcan so you don’t need gun pod) and easily out accelerate the other F4s going for bases unless they’re the FGR.2, then you’re just shit out of luck cause that thing is nearly 17000kgf of thrust 😂

Does the drop tank thing apply to all drop tanks or just the EJ?
@@norske_ow3440 all drop tanks, like a tornado with 20min and drop tanks (21mins of fuel) will out accelerate a tornado with 40min of fuel, not a lot of players know about it so it’s helpful for ensuring a base kill

Can you play the german CL-13A Mk 5 please? I want to learn my way into 8.7+ BR jets but I only have the CL-13A Mk 5 and the MiG-15bis.... In wich its quite hard to aim..
If they added an F-5E with some 80's upgraded equipment (IFF and AIM-9L's) i would Be in heaven. I feel like F-5E's speed is not a problem, it is nimble enough to Make up For that in most situations. If The cold war would have gone hot in The mid 80's F-5E's would have absolutely seen serious combat in USAF, And i would Be interested to see what kind of upgrades those planes would have got

As a tech tree Phantom II sufferer I am absolutely slobbering at this plane.
I used the f1. But that was back when they didn’t get missiles or flares stock
in the last BR patch, the one major change i wish they'd gone through with was bringing the F-5E back up to 11.0. And yeah, the F-5C should be 10.7 too. but well, i dont think that will ever happen...

F5E defintely belongs to 11.0 but F5C is fine where it is. F8E is a better plane than it.

Big issue with moving planes right now is the game is just too compressed, and basing BRs around performance is an imperfect system. Who knows what the future holds for the F5 family.
11.3 is the best BR range at the moment. You completely avoid top tier planes and end up fighting hordes of shitty F-4s players (basically free kills).
Just too bad I have to wait 2 months for the squad grind to complete....

HE isn't always the best performing. For example the ground belt for the 30mm GSh was way better for a while.

It annoys me that they made it a squadron vehicle and didn't just put it between the F-1 and F-16AJ, there's a perfect slot right there. Rank 7 in japan has more planes in the premium line than the actual tech tree, and I think that gaijin putting it there is a blatant act of greed, when the actual teach tree desperately needs more rank 7s.
Whereas I'm happy because it means I can grind through the rest of rank 4 and 5 while I research it, then use it to research through ranks 6, 7, and 8!

For us mere mortals, we are up against actual good (and more) missiles, faster planes, more powerful engines and all we can show for it is: but it holds mach 😅 I have 732 kills with the F-5C and i still find it a bad plane to fly. Simply because nowadays everyone is better than you... Mind you the F-5C may be 10.3 but 9/10 matches are 11.3... What exactly am i supposed to do to a mig-23? The 9Es are so bad that even if the enemy doesn't flare, they are going to miss... You can't get within gunrange, they set energy traps on you constantly... It's just not a good plane to fly at that BR range... The F-5E slightly better, at least it has 2 9Js, suffers from the same problem but this time it's up against F-14s and Mirage 2000s... Fair? Absolutely not... I'd rather fly the Mirage F-1 with a gajilion flares, 2 magic 2s and 2 530Fs, way more consistent than both the F-5C and F-5E... Oh and just a reminder, The F-5c sees at least 2 Jaguar IS's in every match. So now you are up against magic-2s most of the time as well... Yeah... And they even nerfed the ability to pull a lost second shot on the F-5, it just doesn't pull as much AoA as it used to...

Yes, it's harder to fly nowadays. You don't have to be anywhere near as good as Defyn to do well in it, it's still a fantastic dogfighter.

We are not talking about 1v1s here, we are talking about Air RB... Missiles and speed do all the talking until maybe late match where there are very few people left... The F-5 is not very good at surviving till late game simply because it doesn't have the speed or the missiles to do so... You can't catch anyone to clean him up fast, if someone starts chasing you, you can't run away - let alone surviving while there's more of his team around... Skill issue or not, like i said i have 732 kills in the damn thing and i still find planes like the mirage F1 and the 2000c a lot easier to be consistent with...
While i agree that the F5E could go up to 11.0 in general but i wouldn't uptier the F5C from 10.3. The F5E with the much more powerful engines is a league of it's own. I never liked the F5C because of this, it's engines are just way too weak (and then there is the shitty Aim9E).

You're not just buying the plane, you're buying the ability to research the entire tech tree in two to four weeks while making a ton of SL. That said, I think it would be better at 11.7.
To be fair, the F-20 comes with premium bonuses, 2 weeks of prem time, and 2500 GE.
A talisman on this thing is a way better way to grind top tier japan than the shitty ADTW.

I this is actually not a Japanese f-5, it’s a Thai f-5. Hence why your friend calls it the Thai fighter.
