All seriousness though I have HELLA anxiety when I play this game, like I just cannot chill no matter what. I try desperately to relax and then just end up ff 2 all the time. I get super flow chart and then just get tilted.

glad you're using your voice! AI voice is funny but it is extremely monotone. Plus im interested to see what your youtuber voice will sound like in the future
Very relatable. Pressure of your own expectations towards yourself can get to anyone at some point. I remember playing like shit during one T7 online tournament, compared to how I usually played. Good advice from you 👍
Thanks alot for your videos, as I have ranked anxiety too, it was really interesting to know that someone like you could also be affected ! Your voice is cool ! Have a nice day
Wow, Ive been dealing with ranked anxiety(or anxiety while playing in general) for most of my time playing competitive games, Tekken not being an exception, so its really comforting to see that its something alot of us deal with and how you go about it !
Great video as per usual. As an addendum and taking something positive from psychology is the idea of exposure therapy. People who compete at a high-level have noted that the more they simply compete, the less nerves affect them. So just keep at it fellow Reina enjoyers, I know it's helped me deal with ranked anxiety.
I just reached mighty ruler with Kazuya as a new tekken player. This video is huge for me, I feel ranked anxiety hard due to how little i know in terms of MUs. Seriously, thank you - this channel is invaluable
This was a big help for me since I sometimes even feel that i overwhelm myself with the anxiety and I just keep messing up things bad and over pressuring and smashing. Thanks a lot from this. I got totally new perspective!
Idk if it’s from using your own voice. But this vid we got so much more commentary. Definitely a good thing. I’m glad the reaction has been so positive in the comments
Actually wonderful hearing your voice come through. And the fact that you used a topic like this to do so gives it an extra sense of being/feeling genuine. This is something that so many mid-level and even folks above that will have issues with if they aren't as comfortable/familiar with competition.
Very surprised seeing this video, this is also happening to me lately. It helps to know it happens to more than me, and I think your method is worth trying a lot. Its easy to play without nerves, so it's better to learn about playing with them.
So I'd like to give my opinion and experience here, just in case it helps someone else, because I'm both someone with a lot of anxiety and a lot of performance experience (as a mucisian). Getting into the flow of a match and your real focused gameplay isn't actually in direct competition with your anxiety, but anxiety is gonna be dragging your attention away from what's important. The distinction is that if you can find a method to actually push your attention away from whatever is on your mind, and into what you're doing, you'll sorta forget your anxiety for the moment. This is why I think this kind of analysis works, but I think it's worth noting that the act of associating x to y is what's important here - we can consciously learn how we play differently in any mental state, but being aware of it isn't the same as the agency to change it. So I suggest: Take this, or whatever else you associate with that focus, and use that between rounds and before matches. analyze your own gameplay just as much as your opponents and point out in the moment what's different. You'll both be actually recognizing what you need to do, and bringing yourself back to a moment where you were doing it. But this is literally one of any way to do this, and whatever works, works. For example I use breathing for it - I've just trained myself to associate how I breathe with all the times I've performed on stage or wherever and so not only am I using the physiological effects of it, I'm calling back to memories I have of getting past that anxiety. At least that's how I think about it, because it seems to be more accurate than any time I've tried to get into the psychological nitty gritty too. Last thing I have to say: Check the things that don't feel like they're adding to your anxiety. How are you sitting? Have you drank water? eaten? stretched? etc etc. I was shocked how often my bad vibes playing in ranked or performing in front of people came down to just assuming I could sit down and do it without getting my body ready. great video.
Using the AI voice must have been a bit tedious, plus you deliver this video super well. Keep it up! Also i lost battle ruler all the way back to tenryu because of anxiety. Not being able to use FC DF 4 for Reina was a such a hard blow, it def was a crutch. After i got over that and learned to use other moves, and using the FC DF 4 with better timing, im back to flaming ruler. It's really crazy, your videos helped on the way. Thank you
Good video as always! Overcoming ranked anxiety is a very liberating part of any online game, and it's a hump that must be conquered every time across every genre. I'll admit I'm significantly less engaged without the usual voice and found it harder to focus. Not sure what it is.
The way I get over ranked anxiety, is that once I get to a new color rank, I just play quick play to fight people my rank for like two weeks. When I comfortable beating all three ranks in my color I go into ranked. Made it to Raijin with reina thanks to all your videos, taking a month in quick play before going into ranked again, skill gap is huge now but it's fun fighting others so good.
You can just make a 2nd account and keep switching between accounts when one gets promoted. That way you will always have your highest rank secured. Therefore you don't have to worry about job employers and fem bois on the grinder app ghosting you because you got demoted.
I didn't mind the AI voice but honestly? I prefer it this way, shout outs to the stream for the voice reveal and shout outs to you for improving and trying out new stuff! I hate rank with a passion, both from anxiety and the value that a lot of players put into it. But lately, I've found that as long as I add use a mod named "Tranquility" by Koenji and just jump on and focus on my main gameplan, I don't end up having such a bad time. Great vid, dawg :)
What I did as an easy way to reduce SOME of the stress is to install the Tranquilty mod and disable every stat and rank. I can't see my or my opponents Tekken prowess, Rank, demotion or promotion notification, banner, etc. Immediately this helped me focus on my own gameplay and not an arbitrary conclusion of my opponents skill based on the information at the loading screen.
Its interesting seeing that even higher level players fall into the traps of defaulting to specific moves and overthinking early interactions, getting caught out by expecting more respect from their opponent than they have been conditioned to give, going too deep into the mindgames that you end up getting launched for overthinking. I do this with Kazuya too as a Battle Ruler/Fujin. Df1,4 was always a go-to move of mine and with its change its unsafe on block now (not to mention very duckable) and I'm bad for cancelling d1+2 into twin pistons, or worse, wr2 and getting esten alive for it through taking hits (which wouldve been counterhit if i didnt cancel) or block punished for committing to unsafe cancel options.
Chill voice dude, honestly I hope with all the postive comments on this vid you feel encouraged to use your actual voice more often, keep the quality content coming 💪🏻
Once again, a very useful video, thank you for sharing your insight and thought processes about all the aspects of this game, it helps a ton. I really like the complete approach of your content (the Alisa labbing on stream was a great addition on labbing methods for example). Thank you for sharing, massive support 🔥
My Anxiety Disorder says I have anxiety while watching this video lmao I wish I were joking. Thanks for sharing, tho. Love seeing other players open up about this.
Appreciate the vid bro. I love this game but every time I enter ranked sometimes I get so nervous and lose to people I know I shouldn't be losing to hahaha
its kind of refreshing seeing a blue rank going toe to toe with emperor rank, i always expect low ranks will get absolutely demolished by much higher ranks
Nice thoughts 💭 I also noticed that I play differently in ranked or against better players in player match or in tournaments where I feel nervous than in quick match where I don’t care)
A lot of it also has to do with the ranked system IMO. I hit tekken king about a week ago and my entire matchmaking experience changed. Instead of mostly fighting high blues and low golds, more than half of my matches are GoDs/TGSs on their secondary characters. This means that because I hit gold a single time, I will be playing against against the best people on the ladder on either their main or their secondaries for the rest of this game's life cycle. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does feel bad that when I inevitably got demoted from Tekken King because the games got WAY harder, the games kept getting harder and harder and I ended up demoting all the way back to Battle Ruler. I did eventually get Tekken King back (I'm playing WAY better now than I was before), but this was especially frustrating because not only were the players I was playing against now better than the players I played against in Bushin, but there were A LOT of GoDs and TGSs just trolling on off-characters, so I was either getting my ass beat, getting cheesed, or completely obliterating actual fujins and raijins. All of this is to say, the system is designed in a way where if you hit tekken king, you are heavily discouraged from playing ranked unless you think you can beat 51% of the TGSs and GoDs you play against. In this way, not only is ranked anxiety real, but it's justified. If you don't think you can play above a tekken king level, you *shouldn't* play ranked because you will only be playing against golds, GoDs, and blues who got demoted from gold. That's a REALLY tough field to climb in if you don't think you're a top 1% player.
I get anxiety even in Quick Matches, let alone Ranked, yet I still made it to purple with a decent winrate. I definitely have to be in the right frame of mind to play, early in the day and with a lot of caffeine.
I'm so anxious playing ranked. I've never known my full potential in Tekken 7 as well cause I once I hit Emperor I noped out of ranked. I think about concerned about my win rate which doesn't make sense? Idk but I'm happy the way I'm currently at. Just having fun in a video game.
the only thing putting me off right now is that i'm bushin and about to hit tekken king, points-wise, but i heard unlocking TK irreversibly unlocks matchmaking access to the alts of experienced players and will make it much harder to climb back up if you get demoted, which sucks given that i'm already having a hard time up here
You can just make a 2nd account and keep switching between accounts when one gets promoted. That way you will always have your highest rank secured. Therefore you don't have to worry about job employers and fembois on Grindr ghosting you because you got demoted.

Could you revisit Sentai? I’m slowly realizing that it doesn’t work anymore at higher level, and the pros don’t use it either. Seems that it is necessary to hit confirm raiden and not assume you are advantageous in sentai after getting blocked. Sentai also seems like a fake mixup since the opponent has time to mentally prepare with your spinning animation. Chaining moves that transition to sentai also puts everything on a set timing, so you just can’t keep mashing further; they will just keep blocking till sentai where they either option select duck, block, or jab. Each of those options can only lose to one or two sentai moves each.
for me im just playing king and spam grabs when i just wanna relax or just play like a dumbass, but tbh i want marduk since he was fun in casual at tekken 7
Reina-player asks: ”How do I play?” Match starts: ”We open with Ff2” literally 4 seconds later: ”Ff2 again” No need to do analyses, I could have told you that. Edit: jk, great video
I don’t have anxiety I’m just tired of people only crouching and spamming launchers. Got my Jin to blue and just stopped because the matches all became the same.

Not hearing the absolute chad AI voice definitely caught me off guard, though I clicked the wrong vid😂.
