I feel this in my soul. I have OCD and deal with horrifying levels of perfectionism and other people judging me. I really love fighting games, the characters, learning more etc. but I used to get cold sweats even in casual Street Fighter. And I just started Tekken 7 a month ago and I’m feeling that again. Weirdly, just having someone I see as a god level Tekken player say “I understand, it’s okay to not take it so seriously, just learn, have fun, and celebrate the small stuff” is very relieving. Thank you for this.
That means you are taking ranked way too seriously. I noticed a huge difference in play style when I played in ranked versus player match. Once you realize ranked means nothing, you will be able to play normal. You have to change your mindset essentially.
When I play ranked, I always remind myself that if I get demoted that it's no problem. I got to that rank before, and I can do it again. With that peace of mind, I can focus on what moves I should be looking out for that my opponents will use out of habit: snake edges, command grabs, how do they respond to an unsafe move that I throw out and do they know its unsafe?
Honestly I really don't care if I get demoted I usually get clapped by simple tactics by my enemy but my sister said if I can't get through the low level tactics I'm not ready for higher ranks

Nothing is more frustrating than seeing characters who don’t deserve to get buffed get buffed, and i have to put up with that? Online? With lag? Nah, fuk that.
This is spectacular advice. Sometimes, you're on a losing streak and it feels horrible, but if you take it as a learning experience and focus on the positive, it helps.
I would happily lose all day at Tekken. For some reason it's more fun for me to fight someone better and continually try to win. If I win like 3 games in a row i get bored unless they're really tight games.
When I transitioned online last year, I got my ass kicked for about a month. I would get to Brawler and then demoted right back down. Tekken online can be brutal and disappointing but you gotta keep learning and not let the defeats get to you, just like in real life.
he is giving advices on how to avoid anger, not anxiety. I almost always feel anxious playing tekken every single time, it's exhausting, even though I'm winning.
it is a very existencial game - your wrong reads may cost your character's life. You identify with that character. Maybe you can give up the steering wheel, accept that you are always play with limited information, set small goals and see that you and that other person comes together to play. A guy who had played SF for many years once said to me "to be good at fighting games you have to practice A LOT, and get your ass kicked NO LESS than 10,000 times" The second part is very important I've come to find, put on a movie while you play, take your hands off the controller to answer your phone mid match, let ranks mean nothing and the fear will fade
Me too. Part of the reason I stopped playing mk11 online was because of the w/l ratio that shows. Just makes you feel bad when you don't have above 1.1
Thank you for the advice Mainman, this has been really helpful as I also get anxious about playing competitive games online, especially when playing on my own.
Just go in to learn, have fun and not give a care about winning or rank placement. Tekken and Soulcalibur are the only series where I genuinely enjoy fighting an uphill battle because of how much experience and a confidence boost it gives me towards refining my characters (Lars, Anna for T7 & Kilik and Xianghua for SC6). Yeah nobody wants to lose but its more all about what you take from the battle and less about the end result.
FUN over everything. if you aren't having fun against a character or playing as a character then you aren't obligated to continue. that also includes losing. if you're losing in a particular set and it's effecting you a lot then just leave after playing first to 2 or 3. have a goal in mind when playing besides just trying to win. Maybe you want to try out playing with optimal range. maybe you want to improve your whiff punishment or throwbreaks or knowing when to apply pressure etc. Small victories are going to be better in the long run for your mentality & overall mood going forward.
Playing online really feels like taking an exam but all the questions are in a different language. By the time you’ve figured out how to deal with the problem, you have to deal with the lag affecting your reaction time.
Honestly whenever i play rank i always feel this anxiety "everyone is so much better than you in rank so you not gonna win" and yeah i keep thinking like that's why i keep losing, get frustrated, salty, etc. it's not a very pleasant feeling in the game but if you can conquer this you can pretty much do fine in rank, You really have to be control of your mentality when it comes to things which is not easy btw because we are just human that are trying to deal with problems in life in the end But i decided to stop playing at Overlord which a lot of people see not a high rank but im very happy and satisfied with it like i can say to myself "oh im actually not trash in this game anymore" but yeah i decided not to deal with toxicity with rank anymore the ki charge,plug,3 bars, cheese, you know the rest and yeah i just want to remind people that *ITS OK TO LEAVE SOMETHING THAT YOU DONT ENJOY* it's totally fine no one is forcing you to do something so that no one gets mad or annoyed at you (except if you ki charge or plug but that's a different story) and if they do get mad at you *completely ignore it,dont give a single attention, try not to care at all, their not the one feeding you*
I'm an absolute beginner and I finally got to brawler with Jin, after many crashes, disconnects, non stop choking during promo matches, and for some reason the game would just stop reading my inputs from my pad and/or keyboard. Anyways, my save data got corrupted and had to start from the beginning. Seems Tekken doesnt want to let me get to brawler.
what makes me salty is getting air juggled.. once my character is in the air, the opponent is doing his juggle and i have absolutely no control over anything.. its like as if my opponent is in practice mode...this was the reason why i dropped out of serious play, because air juggling is such fundamental part of tekken and it frustrates me.. i play for fun, instead. not competively.
@@moxdegiourno7984 You can only break combos in Marvel 3 if you try to do a 1 of 4 direction tag switch after a launch, but if they didn't do that, then no, you couldn't get out of combos.
I would just try to remember "it's just a game." For those that say they aren't improving because ranked is bad practice, like TMM said "take the small victories", like how you reacted to parrying lows, or duck punishing high strings. In my opinion, sometimes playing by reactions is better than anticipating, I feel this is a very strong skill to have for offline settings. Like Anakin says "You're not training to get better @ Online, you're playing online to get better at offline." Tricks where it usually doesn't work. But as with this ongoing pandemic I know that it's hard to find local players nowdays. Just find someone online that is willing to get good with you at your level, then move up(which is hard to find too) you do get better the more you play and learning the matchups.
The video ended on the most calming music from Tekken XD More seriously, winning feels good but losing (even if it's multiple time in a row) is part of the game, we can't always win ! Even a pro player isn't flawless. So the thing to remember is playing to have fun and not saying to yourself "if I play I need to be the best, I have to get greater ranks again and again, if I lose and lose ranks I'm a bad player". If you win it's great but if you lose tell yourself that you can do better next time.
I totally agree that dodging is fine , I wouldn’t play against gimmicky characters , I play like 3 times a week , and I take breaks from the game frequently cuz I do other things , by the time I get back I probably forgot a few things so to me it’s not worth it playing bs characters I just wanna enjoy my time and no one enjoys their time getting mixed and played with
Totally agree, I got a no DLC Policy as well as a no cheesy characters. Oh and a two match policy, sometimes I just play my opponent once and then dip. When I feel like I’m getting drawn into the ever ending climb to Rank, I simply quit for a few weeks or maybe even months off.
TMM you made a whole lot of great points but I have some small disagreements or more like clarifications based on how I understand this topic. Not everyone feels anxiety playing ranked. I would sometimes feel anxiety but other times it would literally be zero. There is a reason for this and it has to do with what anxiety is. Anxiety is LEARNED, so there's a past experience that makes you anxious when you play online. Personally it was feelings of inadequacy and mostly rejection from peers in team games that gave me performance anxiety. So if you feel anxious playing online you need to think exactly what you're afraid of. It's very hard to look inside and find that thing, but it's there and you'd benefit greatly from finding it. It could also be related to your identity. If your identity is based on your performance in the game then competition will hurt because a loss directly attacks who you are and your value as a person. In Indian psychology there's the term "ahamkara" which is one of the main parts of the mind. It is the false self, the self that is based on external things like your job, hobbies, wealth, sports team you support, your friends, nationality. Anything external of you. Everyone has an ahamkara and when there's negative emotion it tries to create excuses to protect you from those emotions, and one way it does that is by building a false sense of self based on all kinds of bullshit, like how good are you at a game which is something lots of gamers struggle with. Their sense of value as a person is tied to their performance in the game because they don't have an inherent sense of value that comes from within. :( The cool thing about anxiety is that it's future oriented, and when you live in the moment your don't feel it. If you are at home and think of an errand you need to do tomorrow and that errand gives you anxiety then that's gonna feel like hell unless you find a way to distract yourself. But if I come up to you that day and tell you, "right now! follow me and let's go do errand x" you'll feel much less anxiety because you don't have time to think of the future, you'll live more in the present, and in anxiety lives in the future only. So the equivalent of that in Tekken is that you're thinking of "what will happen if I lose?" instead of "How do I win this round right now?". So in conclusion people feel anxiety because they are afraid of something. And if you feel anxiety you need to sit down and figure out exactly what you're afraid of and why/when did that start. And also think about who you really are and where does your value as a human being come from? If you are really serious about this I'd highly recommend starting meditation. Some sources: wiki.healthygamer.gg/en/Anxiety , wiki.healthygamer.gg/Ego
Interesting points, well spoken @armanlex. Though personally ive no interest in meditation but keeping in mind the things you said about anxiety being future-dependent and that it stems from a sense of self that is identified with the superficial.
Some I kinda agree with others I'm like this is ridiculous. I mean false self hmmm okay I can see how that could be a thing. But its based on your job, hobbies, family, nationality and all these other things that sometimes define people and what they really like and care about? And that's what you mean by false self, I call bullshit on that. I might not be very well learned on indian meditation practisis but this is just not right. People feel strongly about these things and sometimes it defines them as people and they're happy with it, how can you just say: yeah that thing your really passionate about that's not really you. That just does not make any sense to me.
@@yusassin1449 Hey hassasin, I'd love to have a short back and forth discussion about this idea of false self. I don't think youtube is great for those kinds of discussion so if you want, hit me up on discord Armanlex#1286 . If you don't want to that's fine I can post my response here.
The only thing that affects me in that scenario is my movement. But apart from that just remember once you become better at the game rank will mean nothing you will get to the place you deserve when you're ready
I completely agree with mainman that you alone carry yourself so this can be positive and negative, how so? Well because if you are able to seize the victory and be dominant in the match you gain the feeling of becoming powerful or confidence in yourself but the downside sometimes is if you are unable to push yourself further and all you feel is lost and discontent then it's clearly your fault alone. This is a great topic and I'm glad TMM uploaded this so people would have clarity on this 👍 much love from 🇵🇭
I found players that were above my lvl of promotion and got use to their stress and its been working for me ever since then. I found TTG or TGP for different characters in a facebook tekken group to just spar and learned the match up at an advance lvl. Its been working for me ever since then. Just beat a 300th ranked TWT in ft5, learned and had fun. Not a big accomplishment but its something of a testament to how far I've come in the game.
Yeah i even can't do backdash or do simple combo, i can't even punish... On top of that. The anxiety multiple if i got mirror match which make me even more nervous....
Yeah playing someone who beats you with your own character just sucks, but if they are better than you, you can learn set ups, combos, or any new tech from them.
The only thing i hate when im playing this game is thinking that the enemy will abuse a low and mid mixup kinda like every drag that ive met or king or law
King abusing lows? Law and Dragunov definiately but King? I'm jus surpirsed because I main him amd most of his lows are shit. I'd say his throws and grab chains are MUCH worse when it comes to cheese. If you think ali kicks are cheesy yoi can parry or block the third one and launch punish.
I agree with you, yes King is in the bunch as well. I play so many Kong’s that abuse the low and mid. Every time I play a king I assume he will play that way, I make it my best to keep him pushed back and on his back at all times. I don’t force a rematch afterwards.
_kqcper_ oh no you assume I have trouble playing against lows, or the king match up. I do lower my skill to my opponents level in order for teach a lesson, once I sense cheese, I’ll play around a bit, I’ll do the same move over and over again. It’s just gets old playing like this, yes I’m winning but it the grand scheme of things I’m losing cause I’m not learning anything and I’m not having fun, I just can’t quit the match without penalty. Throws are easy, I simple keep my opponent away and interrupt his attacks, I call it the dink and dunk, I keep them on honest, small jabs, lows and quick crouch jab. He can’t grab and defend at the same time.
@@mikayd yeah I know what you mean. I'm not used to playing online but king was my main sonce I remember. I was just surprised that besides his grabs he's considered a cheap character
Hopefully with Season 4 changes ranked will be better since you will be able to avoid the laggy wifi players that abuse spamming moves to fight the lag.
lag definitely was my biggest cause of anxiety, going back to replays and seeing your jab punishes get blocked after blocking -13 moves, or watching easy guaranteed combos drop repeatedly really gets your head scratching
I used to have anxiety about going online too. it’s weird too because when I jump into ranked I get into the groove pretty quickly. It’s just a tough game, but I also don’t think I’ve ever played any game that was more rewarding to win at. It’s a double edged sword. It’s always worth getting cut on both sides though.
i didn't know ranked was so important to people, i never feel anxious or anything with video games, sometimes you win sometimes you lose you just have to accept it
Great advice. I’ve been playing this since release and I still get sooooo salty. Accepting the game and focusing on small wins I really like that advice. Thx
I just refuse to look at the progress bar so I never know if I’m gonna promote/demote. I also don’t pay attention to the loading screen so I can’t see it there either. Currently sitting at Suzaku. 🤷🏽♂️ focus on the game and learning. The stress goes away after that.
For me the absolute worst part about ranked is the loss streak counter. If I'm having a bad day and almost all of the last 10 matches are shown as losses it really siphons all my motivation.
DoKhyi Altan Ord yeah I agree with that. I usually set myself a limit to avoid raging out in the end. Years of playing fighting games you learn when to take a break.
Needed this video Playing with friends that are way better than usual ranked people, and im cool. Playing against randon people on ranked that i can figure out in a match or two and my palms start sweating like crazy and my mouth dries up
I wish there was a way to just hide your rank on your screen, so you can play all you want and be clueless about your rank unless you go check it or turn it on
Just got thru some ranked matches on Tekken 8 and it keeps putting me up against Warriors and I'm in 1st Dan so I have won like 2 matches out of 12 it's bs. I don't mind getting better and practicing but I'm sure there aren't enough people playing so it forces me to play veterans. Lol, I will get them back in the future. Your right tho I was hanging in there with Warrior Ranked players and I haven't played Tekken since the arcade at Putt Putt. Lol, I do have a lot of Street Fighter 6 experience and MK11. Thanks for the tips!
My method is this. The first match, I play in a way that is totally void of emotion. Not saying that I intentionally throw the first match, but I really only do pokes and small frame traps to see what my opponent knows and how he reacts to it. By doing that, I can see pretty clearly how the players brain works. I don't throw on any emotional investment or do any risky moves until I understand what I am going up against. That usually happens around the second or 3rd game for me. If I get totally blasted out of the water 2 to 3 games straight to the point where I cant even see how it is happening. Time to move on. Lab it or avoid it.
I can agree. But people no longer play ranked to get better, they just... Play it to get bigger ranks. Im often one matched just for being a difficult opponent. Rather I win or lose. I do first to 3 in ranked against all characters at all skill levels. There are some good sports out there though I went back and forth for 4 hours in ranked with a fahkumram player. We just couldn't get two wins straight on each other.
I've always wanted to get to the blue ranks. I'm currently at mighty ruler and while I think I'm proficient with Bryan, there are certain matchups that are just not fun. Eliza, eddy, kuma, alisa, and lucky Chloe piss me off.
This video is incredible because is at very important video, i don t now how with anxiety in this game and salty much. Thanks main man for this video and sorry for my English xD
What helped me was to instead, imagine I'm playing with a human and not the character. It's less annoying to know that a relatable human being is who I'm fighting with not a violent emotionless "character/puppet".
4:26: TMM talking about salt in Tekken while showing footage of the TWT champion losing a match to a Law player doing a 10-hit string. Very appropriate footage. I have never understood the "deathmatch until promotion/demotion" mindset. If two people who go 50/50 do that, they will each gain 100 points per match. This is 1/19th of a full win, and will mean you need 30-75 matches to get a promotion. If the matches are really close, this could be 2-6 hours of playing the same person over and over. And if you're Fujin or higher, having close matches like this will mean you're literally never going to promote. And if you're not having equal matches, then what's the point? What could be more self-harming than deathmatching someone while knowing you're the loser, that you're just slowly pushing yourself towards a demotion?
If you're a new player to the series and you're anxious about your actual skill level, do pay a visit to your local offline gathering once social distancing ends. You'll be surprise with the offline experience compared to online, especially if you devoted alot of time into practicing fundamental skills. Suddenly all those flash guards you were buffering would work and your movement would feel alot more fluid too. Lag does wonders to your experience regardless if it's a 5 bar or a 3 bar match. It also questions your skills which leads to anxiety Tekken online has its merits. However, tekken online is not there for you to judge your skills. It's only there to let you play a bootlegged ver. of tekken with people, if you're unable to do so offline. P.S. This is the reason why you don't see junkyard spamming laws or lucky Chloe string players in offline tournaments as well. IT JUST DOESN'T WORK OFFLINE.
The thing I find most frustrating about rank is how jank the points system is. I win i get 1100pts but i lose, i lose 1900pts. How the hell am I suppose to not get anxious and frustrated. I been stuck in red ranks for 5 months ( granted i play on and off). But the anxiety and feeling of inadequacy stay. Ranked is the only place for me to find players within my skill range
So, a weird strategy I had to getting around the salt, was getting flat out wasted. I was playing casually with devil jin (I was at mighty ruler at the time) and thought 'fuck it'. Legit, the booze made my nerves ease, and got all the way to fujin. Strangest ranked session ever
Well, the biggest hurdle to fighting another live player is to stop being used to doing what you wanna do, when you wanna do it. In other words, don't act like it's you're fighting the CPU, and doing flowchart attacks all day. While going balls to the wall sometimes gets one to come out on top, at the end of the day, skill takes lead in Tekken; especially long sets.
I only play rank on my good days. So like if im doing good playing lobby or quick matches that day I hop on rank. Right now I'm genbu never been demoted yet with 160 something wins.
As a league player i can assure you, losing in tekken is much easier to accept than losing in league since there are no other players that are holding you back. If you lose it is because of yourself.
There's nothing to be anxious about in online ranked Tekken really, atleast here in Asia i guess? Real anxiety inducer are offline matches, look back at the korean arcade days of Tekken 5, 6, Tag 2. You are playing ranked face to face with someone and there are spectators behind, imagine how it feels that way
I find offline with strangers much more comfortable since you are not ranked, you don't feel like you are taking an exam. It just doesn't feel good being evaluated and worse seeing the result shoved in your face.
My whole strategy in Tekken is to annoy my opponent to death, making them anxious. Suffice to say I don't get many rematches from easily annoyed players.
Those unpleasant feelings wouldn't have been that common if everyone played with fast connections. With the current netcode situation and overall responsiveness, it's more like PREDICTING what's the opponent going to do instead of REACTING to it. That's it....that's where frustration comes from in Tekken.
I love ranked modes in games. Overwatch, Mortal Kombat, even fucking UFC 3. I think I just enjoy the idea of having a competitive match. When I picked up tekken recently, goddamn, I am getting destroyed. It's made me not want to touch competitive. I feel like I still have too much to learn to play it.
I am still struggling to get to blue rank cuz I either get a a player that clearly isn't playing like that rank or he is 2 or even more ranks above me. But I swear to god, Im not that bad at Tekken, but I can't think in online matches like ranked,my heart starts beating so fast, and after the game I feel like Im gonna die cuz the match was too intense for me. But when I play with friends, Im fine, so the ranked its screwing me up over with stress and being frustrated that I may be a lot more stupid than i thought
don't look for wins (most of the online players are looking for! these days)... when you lose you are in the right place and you have a big chance to improve yourself... after three matches you can figure this out. Just look for better players to beat your ass and from them, you will learn how to be better than you were before.
Fuck ranked. Maybe for someone who plays Tekken as their main game for couple dozen hours a week ranked is an enjoyable experience, but I just always find myself constantly against toxic players with cheese characters/strategies. Beating them doesn't feel good, losing to them feels like you're being punished for not tierwhoring/cheesing. I just play with friends, we keep the character pool limited to 2-4 per person. Ideal for having fun sometimes instead of never. But, still, what helps me during the rare times that I play ranked is having 2 mains. Psycologocally it gives you the insurance of "well, if I get demoted with Eddy now, my Jin's still Warrior", as well as extra motovation of wanting to 1up your other character. You also have another option for when it's just *that* day, when the electric ain't quite right. The important bit here is to limit yourself to one character switch per day. If you switched, and want to switch back - it's time to quit and do something else.
I feel this in my soul. I have OCD and deal with horrifying levels of perfectionism and other people judging me. In practice I can pull off staples in almost every delay setting. While in ranked I can't even backdash without almost having a goddamn panic attack.
This is how playing irl and in tournaments has felt for me.
Yes this happen to me too! My backdash suddenly become almost looks like a teabag(?). I even drop a really easy combo

If I lose I always send a " good game" or "nice moves" message. This always makes me feel better even if I got destroyed.
That’s actually a really good idea.
Wow MainMan, very good advice in this video that can literally make a player. Glad you’re helping the community and being a good person overall.
Small victories are going to be better in the long run for your mentality & overall mood going forward.
getting demoted just means your next matches are gonna be easier, if anything promoting should be the stressful part thats the right mindset.
Its not gonna be easy at any rank
Tmm wait only 2 years I am coming to defeat you 3-0
That's the spirit I'm rooting for you!
You’re going to drop the game next month lol stfu

@@ichigokurosakisubsoulreape7592 honestly😂. "I can't do it so he can't" it's really pathetic.
Just heard this on his stream and has good message!!!
Playing online really feels like taking an exam but all the questions are in a different language. By the time you’ve figured out how to deal with the problem, you have to deal with the lag affecting your reaction time.
Honestly whenever i play rank i always feel this anxiety "everyone is so much better than you in rank so you not gonna win" and yeah i keep thinking like that's why i keep losing, get frustrated, salty, etc. it's not a very pleasant feeling in the game but if you can conquer this you can pretty much do fine in rank, You really have to be control of your mentality when it comes to things which is not easy btw because we are just human that are trying to deal with problems in life in the end
But i decided to stop playing at Overlord which a lot of people see not a high rank but im very happy and satisfied with it like i can say to myself "oh im actually not trash in this game anymore" but yeah i decided not to deal with toxicity with rank anymore the ki charge,plug,3 bars, cheese, you know the rest and yeah i just want to remind people that *ITS OK TO LEAVE SOMETHING THAT YOU DONT ENJOY* it's totally fine no one is forcing you to do something so that no one gets mad or annoyed at you (except if you ki charge or plug but that's a different story) and if they do get mad at you *completely ignore it,dont give a single attention, try not to care at all, their not the one feeding you*
I'm an absolute beginner and I finally got to brawler with Jin, after many crashes, disconnects, non stop choking during promo matches, and for some reason the game would just stop reading my inputs from my pad and/or keyboard. Anyways, my save data got corrupted and had to start from the beginning. Seems Tekken doesnt want to let me get to brawler.
tell me your not actually playing on wifi
@@accelerator9145 probably he is
@@accelerator9145 I'm not, my PC can't connect without an actual cable.
what makes me salty is getting air juggled.. once my character is in the air, the opponent is doing his juggle and i have absolutely no control over anything.. its like as if my opponent is in practice mode...this was the reason why i dropped out of serious play, because air juggling is such fundamental part of tekken and it frustrates me.. i play for fun, instead. not competively.
I remember in marvel vs capcom 3 they have a way to get out of juggle or combo
@@moxdegiourno7984
You can only break combos in Marvel 3 if you try to do a 1 of 4 direction tag switch after a launch, but if they didn't do that, then no, you couldn't get out of combos.
Like Anakin says "You're not training to get better @ Online, you're playing online to get better at offline."
Tricks where it usually doesn't work.
But as with this ongoing pandemic I know that it's hard to find local players nowdays.
Just find someone online that is willing to get good with you at your level, then move up(which is hard to find too) you do get better the more you play and learning the matchups.
The video ended on the most calming music from Tekken XD
More seriously, winning feels good but losing (even if it's multiple time in a row) is part of the game, we can't always win !
I totally agree that dodging is fine ,
I wouldn’t play against gimmicky characters , I play like 3 times a week , and I take breaks from the game frequently cuz I do other things , by the time I get back I probably forgot a few things so to me it’s not worth it playing bs characters I just wanna enjoy my time and no one enjoys their time getting mixed and played with
Totally agree, I got a no DLC Policy as well as a no cheesy characters. Oh and a two match policy, sometimes I just play my opponent once and then dip. When I feel like I’m getting drawn into the ever ending climb to Rank, I simply quit for a few weeks or maybe even months off.
Just imagine having guy has a dad. Amazingly wholesome
The cool thing about anxiety is that it's future oriented, and when you live in the moment your don't feel it.
This is a very well written and insightful comment, thanks for posting.
If you don't want to that's fine I can post my response here.

gosh just like after one ranked match my hands start shake reaaal baaad then all of a sudden i forget how to execute anything.
@@3lectronX yes i couldn't agreed more! they give me some new technique i could use!
@@mikayd Kust out of curiosity may I know what lows are you struggling with? King has abusable mid/high 50/50 but I don't know any good, cheesy lows.

This is a great message. It gave me a new perspective on the game
Really needed this advice not just for tekken but for other games aswell
i love Tekken but the only thing that make so damn stress and upset is when I facing with spammers and laggers!
Spammers will build your defence-skills. Still a pain in the ass to play against Sometimes though, lol
Hopefully with Season 4 changes ranked will be better since you will be able to avoid the laggy wifi players that abuse spamming moves to fight the lag.
Try to learn how to abuse the frames as much you can
Kbd and punishing
@@davipenha thanks for info man :D
lag definitely was my biggest cause of anxiety, going back to replays and seeing your jab punishes get blocked after blocking -13 moves, or watching easy guaranteed combos drop repeatedly really gets your head scratching
I'm a deathmatcher. This was a good message. I think I'll chill
Some amount of anxiety is a good thing. You don't want to be so chill that you lose focus or just don't care if you win or lose.
for me. its the feeling that ya im new and bad but if i get stomped by a similar ranked its the worse feeling in the world and i feel so shiity
Thx
I try to make a habit of rematching a few times even when I’m pissed off... Live by the MASKU, die by the MASKU.
When I get demoted I just say to myself out loud "Dayum I suck ass!" Then I think about how I lost and improve from there.
Needed this video
Playing with friends that are way better than usual ranked people, and im cool.
Playing against randon people on ranked that i can figure out in a match or two and my palms start sweating like crazy and my mouth dries up

@@l3unnies yes. But you dont need to worry about losing ranks or gaining ranks.
This is very wise! I appreciate you sharing your wisdom! Love from a small weeb!
5:43 the main man swe is really understand us as players of low level
I can agree. But people no longer play ranked to get better, they just... Play it to get bigger ranks. Im often one matched just for being a difficult opponent. Rather I win or lose. I do first to 3 in ranked against all characters at all skill levels. There are some good sports out there though I went back and forth for 4 hours in ranked with a fahkumram player. We just couldn't get two wins straight on each other.
Glad to see you talking about anxiety!
Thanks TMM! Really appreciate this vid!
How to handle ranked stress...player matches. I’ll concede with my Savor rank as it was more painful than anything to get there
If you're a new player to the series and you're anxious about your actual skill level, do pay a visit to your local offline gathering once social distancing ends.
It also questions your skills which leads to anxiety
Tekken online has its merits.
Losing against Kazuya: "You're pretty good. Let's rematch."
Losing against Leroy: "See you again once you're properly nerfed."
My movement and punishment drops significantly in ranked compared to quick match. It's like there's a curse.
That's why I practice everyday but online facing a another competitor is very tricky
So, a weird strategy I had to getting around the salt, was getting flat out wasted. I was playing casually with devil jin (I was at mighty ruler at the time) and thought 'fuck it'. Legit, the booze made my nerves ease, and got all the way to fujin. Strangest ranked session ever
NGL, Anakin and JDCR playing rock, paper, scissors is still hella cute.
whats the song at 10:20? i've heard it somewhere...
If you got the rank before you can get it again. If you get demoted and promoted enough you begin to grow numb to the change.
Very positive messages. Great video!
Ft2 if im losing, death match if im winning/even.. Perfect rank setup.
I felt the same way good luck on everyone on rank 2021
Another thing guys, take breaks! Go outside, get some fresh air to sooth your mind. Then go back and carry on.
I took a month break from Tekken and my anxiety is mostly gone now
the only thing I get frustrated is when I know what I am supposed to do but can't do it . . . other than that, losing is just part of the game
As a league player i can assure you, losing in tekken is much easier to accept than losing in league since there are no other players that are holding you back. If you lose it is because of yourself.
I try to enjoy rank match and try to learn but I do get anxiety or stress facing dlc characters I don't have yet
So much respect to you, from a fellow mortal loser who poops, pisses and gets scared in life.
Wish you could see the salt that happening in Kombat league ( MK11 )
Ranked anxiety is why i stopped playing at Ryujin rank now.
Can't afford to be demoted.
Will play again after S4 when netcode is improved.
I have an anxiety disorder and after a good few dry-heaves I'm good to go. lmao
Citalopram and pregabalin do wonders for me lol
is TMM gonna make a tutorial on "opting out" now? xD
Alt F4 is the greatest move in Tekken
