Direct Grilling A Tri-Tip On A Rainy Day ⛈️ ☔

- On a rainy day in California, I fired up the grill and grilled a tri-tip on the SNS kettle. I seasoned with @DrunkenChefBbq habanero SPG. Direct grilling was the method of choice today. Grilled until the tri-tip reached a perfect 125°F and rested until it reached 130°F. The resulting flavor was outstanding. Despite my usual preference for cooking over a fire on the Santa Maria grill, I demonstrated that direct grilling that perfect tri tip with the kettle alone is very possible-just use a small amount of coals and remember to flip and rotate frequently. Ensure accuracy by using a temperature probe to check for doneness.
The cook turned out fantastic, and the rain significantly contributed to the atmosphere in the video. I kept the video voiceless to further enhance the experience. I invite you to relax and enjoy the sizzling ambience of this rainy day.

This is such an underrated cut. I'm a butcher, and I'll take Tri Tip over anything any day. Thank you for sharing with us! Hello from Idaho!
I agree! They are readily available over here(California) and sometimes it’s impossible to pass up when they are on sale.
Beautiful Sal!! I love this kind of filming better than anything else. Excellent job brother! Tri tip looked delicious!! 🫶👊🏼🍹
I appreciate it brother! this style is def out of the norm for bbq but there should be more of a trend to do these videos once in a while.
I did enjoy this one! I will try this with my next video! Thanks for sharing
it was fun!
@@SJCOOKS fun should always be number 1
Looks fantastic Sal! Turned out perfect! Rain or shine 😂. Cheers brother 🍻
that's right! the cover is a good investment, keeps you grilling 24/7 out here in california. The filming in the rain though is where it gets a little sketchy haha
Nice cook Sal - turned out great
thank you! I've def grilled outside when it's raining but never filmed while it was raining...things def got messy haha
Tri-Tip was cooked perfectly! YUM! Have a great week my friend!
Thank you! This tritip was delicious. Having it over the direct heat the entire time really intensifies the flavor
The tri-tip looks amazing. It is now next on my list. The Jealous Devil burns hot. I might pick up a bag for the cook. Thanks for the video and the ideas.
The great thing about jealous devil is that you can find it at home Depot now!
Love this type of editing - cinematic and let the cooking speaking for itself. Cheers bud!
I appreciate that brother! this was fun to make.
Awesome video Sal. Love the ASMR feel…prepping the steak, the hot coals, the steak sizzling on the grill with the backdrop of the rain. Tri-tips a great cut of steak! That was just the way I like it too!
Thanks for sharing!🤘
Thanks for taking a look!
Now you can come here to Michigan in a few days and repeat some of that goodness in the snow! Looks great to me! Thanks for sharing this!
that'd be awesome!
What up SJ. Great cook as always. Tri tip is a staple in our home. Thanks for the mention also🫡
Thanks chef! Rain or no rain. I love my tritip
I love this, Sal!
Thank you! It was a fun little edit
Nice cook man! Loved the whole vibe. I’ve only done 2 ASMR videos, and I LOVED the whole process. Editing those are as relaxing as watching them. And rain just makes it all come together. I STILL haven’t tried Tri-tip, believe it or not! Definitely red y on my to-do list.
Thanks Ron! I agree, I digged doing this video. The editing went so fast that I might have to film a few of these throughout the year and crank them out when I don't want to do a video that's too complicated.
That’s actually a great idea!
Gotta love a tri tip especially in the elements cheers Sal 🍻
I am a big fan of tritips
Perfectly said bomb carnal
Thanks primo!
Beautiful tres puntos! Quickly becoming my favorite protein to cook!
...like spider? haha! thanks Trumpet!
@@SJCOOKS Just Like him! LOL great cook bro!
Perfect, relaxing cook! Only thing I can say is.. get rid of that metal wire grill brush! I had always seen articles about people getting those tiny metal pieces stuck in their throat but never thought anything of it till my boss at work had it happen to his wife! He was cooking chicken on the grill and used his metal wire brush to clean the grates. His wife ate a piece of chicken and just started choking and hurting really bad, they had to go to the hospital and have it surgically removed 😳 threw mine away the next day lol.
But the food looked great lol, I need to do tri tip soon!
Yah ive read the same thing. I couldnt find the coil one at the bbq store and I grabbed this wired one. I am pretty careful with it and it won't get many uses before I toss it out. Hopefully the coil one is back in stock or I'll have to get it on amazon
@@SJCOOKS good deal! I've been using foil on my grates but my wife sent me a link for a grill brush that some firefighters invented? I'll have to look it back up, might try that one!
The ball of foil is pretty legit!
Do this in Oklahoma where there’s thunder and tornadoes
No that's quite alright. Sal doesn't need to see his tritip fly up in the air. I've seen tornados pick up cows in that one movie 😂
Sal man I'm liking this video style has to be less editing one would think
Very easy to do and very quick to put together. I was telling Ron that I might have to do a couple of these throughout the year when I don’t feel like doing a complicated video. I have a lot of ideas already
I have no doubts Sal, you have it together
I just want to say…………nothing!
😎👍
haha! speechless one might say
