    Super informative review. Saw the new 3008 at the classic car show at the NEC Birmingham, and it's truly an impressive car. Looks great in mid blue metallic, and the interior puts all rivals in the shade for style. Can't wait to see UK specs and prices.

    Both my wife and I have been Peugeot owners for a long time, at present my wife has a 5008 (ToR), and I own a 3008 (ToR), present version. It is my time for change, and the new 3008 is looking very good. At 75 yrs. I am thinking of a 1.6, petrol, automatic (ToR). unlike what I have at present, which is 1.6, diesel, manual. I don't cover the miles anymore and my salesman friend, (if there is such a thing) ? assures me that automatics have come a long way. I'm quite partial to the white and black combination in your review. Sorry for waffling on, my salesman friend retires quite soon, he has sold both my wife and I Peugeot's for over 30 years, this would be our last purchase from him, "If I go ahead". Regards J.Malcolm C.

    Will you please stop praising this vehicle. For the past few years I've had to put up with sympathetic looks as I've driven around in my 3008 now they've finally got it right there will be none left when I replace my vehicle next year. Please just slag it off a bit and there might be the odd one left. By the way excellent review!! 😎

    I was never a fan of suv cars before. they didn't make sense to me when most of them were just the same size as a standard hatchback inside with more running costs. this is the first one thats actually got my attention with running costs on a par with standard hatchbacks unlike the qashqui.
    its German rivals are utterly dull while its Korean and Japanese rivals look cheap and dated in comparison!

  • @Zerofightervi

    I will be the first to admit I don't rate French cars very highly, they used to be good looking good handling vehicles, but not the most durable.
    This though, I can't believe this car comes from the same company that produced such awful cars such as the 307 & 407.
    I really hope the new 3008 is the start of Peugeot's comeback into the forefront again.
    Good job on getting a first drive over in the UK by the way.

    Great review mate, I was all set in ordering a new Qashqai Tekna but then seen this last month. It not out in Ireland until end of January so have to wait til then to test drive it. No final prices or trim specs published yet, so depends on what you get for your money and if its more expensive than the Qashqai so will have to wait and see. But its very tempting.

    • @insidelane
      @insidelane  8 років тому +1

      Inside Lane me too.. i was ready for the Qashqai techna 1.6 dci in late october.. but now i have to wait for the 3008.. your opinion about 1.6 diesel in these two models..?? Also, pricing for allure or gt line trim level to compare with techna version of the nissan.. overall what would you suggest us between these two SUV options..?? And finally what about that grip control of the peugeot..?? Do you believe it does the job for a soft off road use..??

    • @pod9125
      @pod9125 8 років тому

      Great review, thanks. Similar to Shaun, I'm waiting patiently for the Irish pricing to be confirmed. If Peugeot doesn't come up with figures in the coming days, they are going to lose a lot of potential customers for January orders.

    • @insidelane
      @insidelane  8 років тому +1

      Personally I really like the Qashqai but if it was my money I would get the 3008. Feels more premium, looks great, more refined. Peugeot 1.6 BlueHDi diesels have been excellent for a long time now, I feel better than Renault. The 3008 does have a bit of a price premium but when you look at kit levels it comes with so much more standard equipment that if you specced an equivalent rival the Peugeot works out better value. A 1.6 BlueHDi Active starts at £23,645 (loads of standard equipment including i-Cockpit) GT-Line £27,345. Grip control will get you through the worth of our winter weather and light off road use. Advanced Hill Decent Control is very impressive.

      P OD I got an email back from Peugeot Ireland last week saying not releasing until end of Jan start of Feb, your right they are missing big sales on the 171 plates, but worth waiting for maybe. Going by figures from inside lane comment below and a good video clip that has a copy of all prices for 3008 range it shows the 1.6 hdi 120 eat6 s&s 6speed auto is £28,745 stg so a direct exchange is €33,850 euro but U know Irish pricing logic U can add more to that. so wild guess and hoping that its around the same price as the qashqai 1.6cvt premium which comes in at €34,770 on website which I what I was going for until now lol.... hate this waiting around........ don't think we will be able to barging down much on 3008 new model compare haggling on the qashqai they under pressure now.

    I want to ask about the grip control on this car. Did you get the chance to try it? Does it really makes a difference in difficult conditions? Is it worth adding it on?
    Also, the panoramic roof does it completely blacks out the cabin or is it just the glass there?
    Thanks

    • @insidelane

      Grip control does make a difference, but your situation will dictate if you really need it or not. The glass roof lets in lots of light but and be covered with a blind.

    What's the point of calling this an SUV if you can't get it with four wheel drive?

    • @insidelane
      @insidelane  7 років тому

      Josh Bacon Because SUV doesn't mean four wheel drive.

      Who even needs four wheel drive anyway? While it may improve traction significantly, it's also going to add weight, increase fuel consumption (which also means more trips to the petrol station), require more parts to maintain, be more expensive and add extra complexity for little performance gain! Especially when you have Peugeot's Grip Control fitted! (though it's not fitted on all models of 3008)

      Technically speaking, a crossover is a sub-category of SUV.

      It doesn't so much matter what capacity an engine is, more about the torque. This 1.6 has plenty.

      Lineage2MediaCom this is not an American SUV, its a European one so uses modern engineering methods and materials which means its no where near 2 tons in weight, whilst retaining all the safety of a modern car.

    Hi, I will unsuscribded from your account. Mainly because most of the videos is focused on your driving the car. We don't have the occasion to see you opening the trunk, seating on the rear bench... The second reason is that, in my opnion you are too kind with the cars in general. Never (almsots never) talk about negative points. Not very balanced analysis in my opnion.

    • @insidelane
      @insidelane  8 років тому +2

      Thank you for your feedback. Every video features footage of the boot where applicable. Rear bench footage is also included, but if having me in the back as a reference would help, and enough people want it, then that can be arranged. In terms of balance of analysis, in 2016 a car manufacturer can not make a truly terrible car for the simple fact that profit margins are so tight and they can't afford to throw money away on developing something poor. That said, no car is perfect hence why you hear mention of negative points. Many journalists make too much of a point of something small because they think it increases the validity of what they are saying, Fiat 124 is a very good example. It is your choice if you unsubscribe, but Inside Lane will continue to produce relevant, real, and honest feedback based upon experience.

      Hi, Thank you for taking the time to reply. You are right, my point was to say I would prefer to see you opening the trunk seating behind as this illustrate better the space when having a humain being around as you do for the cockpit. By the way, I would like to point that your videos are always good at recording the driver's way, cockpit arrangement, more than other reviewers actually.
      Regarding the balance, I agree with you that competition is strong and that manufacturers in general don't have a lot of degree of freedom. There is not much room left for making horrible car (oustide of personal tastes). Take care.
