As far as I understand. Balan and the evil guy (lance) have that world to help people with their biggest personal issue (and apparently every single person in the world has been there at least once in their lives). They human characters stay in their world for a while and then go back after they manage to solve them. But Lance got too attached to them, so instead of helping them to solve their issues and then leave, he convinced them to just stay in wonderland as part of the world, not solving their problems and never go back. He also convinced them that Balan was the bad guy and that in order to be able to stay there, they had to become one with their issues instead (basically turning themselves into monsters from the boss fights). The player helps Balan to defeat them and bring them back to normal while also convince them to face their problems/fears and solve them. The names Balan and Lance aren´t just chosen randomly. Both combined make the word "Balance", because that´s what they help the characters to find in their lives. Balance Wonderworld.

Honestly, i could tell this game wasn't very good by the trailer. And apparently i was right, so... yay? Also, i'm genuinely suprised that this WASN'T done by Sega, due to how everything looks like the Nights art style.
Same. I liked the trailer but something felt off. Since it felt off i lost hype for it.
Wow, it seems like a lot of people noticed as well.
Well I mean it was created by Yuji Naka who created Sonic and Nights.
Change the game so it's nights

If feels like game devs see platformers as only kid games despite that being so wrong.
And even if they were, they're not lesser for it.
The music and the character designs are really nice. Unfortunately, that's all the nice things I can say about it...

That farmer (and the world in general) looked like some generic, mobile farming game asset ripped off straight from a bargain-bin Chinese knockoff.
Yea he looked like you'd see him in an ad where the finger is trying to pull metal gates and drops lava on him

"It's very SEGA." Yuji Naka, the creator of Sonic the Hedgehog and NiGHTS, made this, so that's probably why it feels that way. Also, you technically have up to twelve (R3, L3, and the Start and Select buttons), but they chose to not to use 'em. Also, at 4:50 ...that's a kangaroo...

What would make it interesting is if you make it to the end of the game, and there's an end credits scene where Balan asks if you want to join the Kingdom Hearts Initiative.
"I want my money back and I didn't even pay"
literally everyone when just watching actual gameplay
"I didn't even pay anything and I want my money back."
That one clip says it all.

I feel like there's a story behind this game that we're not going to hear until at least a year after the release and decline. It feels like a situation where something went seriously wrong behind the scenes... Something that we know isn't uncommon with big companies like this. Like a Sonic Boom situation where the publishers ended up sabotaging their own product. (In case you're curious, there's a Wha Happun? on it that sums it up better than I could.)

So does that mean Square Enix wasn't the scapegoat for this game?
We should get Little Z to play this since his catchphrase is “jump”
The fact that the starting cutscene was so fucking good made the actual game play SO much worse in comparison. They spent possibly all their effort on the introduction cutscene and the rest is so bad
