Not a bad idea. I have been wanting to dump the heavy battery because my panels "over kill" what I am using them for and I'm only in good sunlight doing my project anyway. I don't know why it never crossed my mind to use a capacitor. Nice little hack for the panels! I will order one and give it a try.

I have just tried to a pwm solar charge controller (pwm is a type of charge controller not a company). This could not be on without battery. I have just experiment to turn it on without a battery using a capacitor that is quit cheaper than a battery

I want the 2 front USB ports work without using any battery, as you show on the video, but I'm completely noob as far as what type of capacitor should I ask for at the electrical store.. Could you provide me the type of capacitor should I ask for ?
For instance, how do I know what type of capacitor I need to buy based on panel Volts and Watts ? Is there any mathematical formula to do the calculation ?

yes capacitor must be above 100 uf and its voltage must be more than solar panel open circuit voltage. the more capacity of capacitor is good

load is more than solar panel current (input). solar panel is not giving enough current to drive load
