Make a Wood Spoon
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 тра 2024
- In this video I will show you how to make a wood spoon. Using hardwood off cuts from Walnut and Sapele, this woodworking project is one that most woodworkers can make in just a few hours.
As you will see with this woodworking project, no two wooden spoon have to look exactly alike, in fact its the imperfections that lend themselves to highlight the handmade aspect of the build - Enjoy!

I'm mostly impressed with how straight those pencil lines are.
The material is presented and explained very nicely. Short and to the point. Thanks
Thank you so much for this video I just bought the Arbortech ball gouge and I got the Arbortech precision carving system thanks to your video I will be making spoons and bowls.
I've been loving a few layers of walnut oil for finishing my spoons. Give it a try.
Once again a Jon Peters video doesn't disappoint!! Watched every min. of this video Bud. Your skillz are on point. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
absolutely fantastic. You are a teacher and an inspiration. thank you for sharing, warm regards, Amit
Good video Jon, thanks for sharing with us.
That is going to be a wonderful spoon! I'm stuck with using chisels... But super cool to see a unique tool!
Nicely done Jon! 😃👍🏻🥄👊🏻
Always enjoy your more "teaching and explaining" videos. Thanks Jon. Great gifts for family this Christmas 👍
InstaBlaster...
Beautiful spoons, Jon! I do really enjoy your teaching style. Thanks for sharing the video.
Loved the way you were teaching how to make this spoon. You made it look so simple.
You are AWESOMELY TALENTED! THANK YOU!
Great job Jon
All those power tools to carve a spoon Jon - what next - a CNC laser cutter and milling machine? But seriously, I do enjoy your videos and this one is as good as all your others - keep them coming.
Why not, I carve spoons and bowls and kitchen utensils...and am tired as heck carving with knives...I carve with power tools and finish manually...
Hey Jon, that was awesome. Thanks for posting.
Thanks David
Good video, everything is simple and clear. Thanks.
Nice work. Thanks for showing us.
Beautiful spoons...
Those look great Jon. Really professional, like everything else you make.
Thank you, good job.
I wish I too is a person like you are 👍
I just bought the Ball Gauge and this nice tutorial is what I need. Liked and subscribed!
Awesome thanks!
Lovely work
so much labour intensive on a spoon, next time when i am using a wooden spoon will handle with care (appreciate the hard labour behind the spoon)
好棒的手藝 很好的木工用具 Thank you Jon

Beautiful looking spoons Jon! Thank you for sharing the video with us all.👌👍😎JP
Nice work!
Great video and really nice work. You make it look so easy!!!
Pretty experienced with carpentry. Took up carving about 6 months ago and I’m terrible at it. Was doing everything by hand (hatchet, carving knives, etc.). Just picked up the ball gouge and mini turbo plane kit last week. Gonna practice with the tools today. Some day I’ll be as good as you!!!
That’s all it takes... time with the tool 👍
Great job buddy love your video! Now where can I find a bandsaw in the Philippines!
Wow, good job 👍
Its awesome
Appreciated ur skill & ,thanks to shere expieriance
nice one
Fantastic
Very nice 👍👍👍
Had a though that the saying you used at the end “happy with the way they turned out” had to do with turning things on a lathe! Maybe maybe not but awesome spoons!
Very nicely done!! Arbortech has very many beautiful carving tools. Thank you Sir .😊
Muy bueno, desde España
Those spoons look terrific Jon, just like something that would have been done in the 17th or 18th centuries!
Great looking spoons, and your instruction was dead on, Jon.
Bravo.
how is that single stage suction system working for the small shop? Have you upgraded to a different system?
Thank you for the video Jon very good and practical, Greetings.
Good job. My suggestion, what if you try to use chainsaw disc mounted on 115 mm diam grinder to gouge the spoon? Think it could have been more easier to manage.
Thanks for the video , nice spoon design and finish !!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏⚘🌹🌺👍from 🇮🇷 iran esfahan siti,tank you,
All the tools in the world won’t make me as accurate as you are just eyeballing it. Haha. Nice tutorial, thanks!
My thoughts exactly! I could never replicate this but it’s so cool
Porfavor me podrías comentar dónde puedo comprar ésa broca redonda, gracias por mostrar tú trabajo ,muy bien realizado y bonito ♥️
They look great!! where can I get that wax?
Cool project! Always wanted to try power carving
Great video! Thanks for the info. Subbed fo sho!
Cheers
Amen!
Shout out to power tools! Great help from the video.. I would suggest some music or talking instead of the sped up sounds of the machines..
One small thing I noticed you say 5/4 measures 1-1/6".. usually it should measure as the name suggests 5/4" or 1.25". Maybe a little less after planing etc but should still be fairly close to 1.25". Great video though I really enjoyed it. Thanks
I watch all your videos!!! Keep up the great work.
How do you sharpen it and do they come small enough for a CNC machine?
very useful wooden spoon, your soft behavior is gifted one, explanation like a practical teacher is interesting, I like all great artist, like an artist you made very beautiful.
That spoon looks amazing
Hello, I have a question about the sanding process, do you think sanding paper is perfectly safe for utensil making? I am trying to make a cutting board with solidwood, but I do hesitate to use sanding paper to smooth it. I worry that the particles and the glue will get into the wood and eventually leach into the food. Could you please suggest? Thank you!
Cool!
its not cool
Great content full of insight, Hello there, may i ask a keyword to buy ball gauge? I can't find it in my country, thank you...
Nicely done! Now for measuring spoons 😊

Thank for the video
How can i get this grinding tool.
I am from Pakistan...
Good
manufactured spoon - just like the ones in the shops 😆
Sieht schön aus ,aber mit Maschinen ist's immer leichter als mit der Hand.
Some Walnut woods contain a chemical called juglone that has a laxative effect.
At what rpm are you running on your router?
Can you tell me the name of the cutting tool you use here and where I can buy it? Thanks.
Is it possible to router the handle instead of sanding it?
Awesome Jon!
Thanks Dude!
After making a spoon, what is the name of the coating material.... if it is wiped... please reply.
Nice job Jon! The ball make it Seem like an easy way to make Spoon I've had the ball for 2 yrs and havent done anything with it yet got it on craigslist for 60$ new in pkg too!:)

Great now I need a ball gouge, thanks. So at $110 for the gouge not to mention all my other tools that touch the project, I'm going to have to make 200 spoons to save money by making my own spoon🤣🤣🤣. But seriously really good video.
