while watching this i was inspired to finish an orchestral track i’ve been working on with an acoustic guitar version of the melody. so i paused half way through this and spent 3 hours recording the parts.
thank you
Instablaster
Thank you, Guy! What a perfect walk-through of Orange Tree's guitar sample libraries. Just what I needed! Cheers.
thank you for your videos, this channel is a box of treasures!
my #1 go-to guitar libraries are: Pettinhouse Acoustic Guitar for steel string and Aria Classical Guitar for nylon
I am a big fan of Orange Tree Samples guitars myself, got the Evolution Steel Strings and Evolution Dracus libraries, truly astonishing products!
Me too. I had no idea how many guitars they've sampled! I bought steel strings years ago and its sort of become my go to.
@@ThinkSpaceEducation have you tried Ample Guitar? That also is quite good, methinks
Guy, you're the best, but I honestly thought you were going to talk about how amazing (and inexpensive) Native Instruments Session Guitarist Picked Acoustic is. I am absolutely blown away by it, and for $99..... just incredible
Well done Guy!!!! THANKS!!!
Came for the review but stayed for the editing! Hilarious!
its always fun to watch your vids
Hey, I don’t know if you read your comments and I know this is an older video, so I don’t know if you still have the same keyboard (it sounded like you were complaining about the key sensitivity). I have the same keyboard and you can change the velocity curve of the keys so they aren’t so sensitive. Makes a big difference. I like c8 mainly and c5 is good for playing lower velocities. Cheers.
if you're thinking of a master keyboard purely for piano, may I recommend the fatar Studiologic SL88 grand or Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S88 MKII both are great master keyboards from my experience. I'd say if you're working with Native Instruments based libraries, you'd be better off with the Kontrol S88 MKII but the slight downside would be the key feel.
I've got OTS Songwriter, Infinity and Strawberry (besides a couple non-guitar products). I have to say, they sound fantastic; as a keyboardist who wanted to play the guitar (dad and mom said, "NO! That Beatles thing is just a fad), it provides a bit of satisfaction. Very important point--the OTS guitars are recorded extremely well...consider how hard it is to record acoustic instruments makes their software a real bargain. They can be programmed to strum pretty much exactly how you want it. Hope you let that poor guy out of the box...
Enjoy video very much...I love your work flow!
thank you!
sound are great
Hi Guy, I love your videos it is very nice learn from you, i just check this one because i love the soud of acoustic guitar's, and i don't konw if you have aready ear the plugin call SILK it's a great guitar acoustic plugin go check .
and man keep doing this it's very good to know thigs about music.
Big hugs from Portugal.
rather awesome!
Very Nice Thank you Guy :)
Beautiful library! They sound a hair too sweet like piano strings to me but the quality is amazing.
Have you tried the Amplesound guitars. Worth checking out, me thinks. Thanks for this video!
no i havent - thanks ill check them out
Ample Sound Taylor is my go to guitar. I use it in strum mode to play chord progressions for song writing. I often leave the samples in as reinforcement. Sounds great.
You should try the Idiginus Renegade Acoustic Guitar....High Quality vs Low Price....
does sound a bit like a harpsichord to my ears though. not a fan of orange tree but a huge fan of Guy michelmore!
Wow ...😍 man you are great 💕❣️
Thank you. They are nice samples with high quality. Personally I find Vir2 Accou6tics are just a tad bit better when it comes to realism. Evolution guitars give it away it is a sample in the melody lines and repeating notes. The accou6tics instrument costs quite a bit more, but you get a whole package of several instruments.
Perhaps evolutions has more sound options overall, but Vir2 has an electric version as well.
Never tried Vir2. Is it sample modeling?
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Never thought about that, but I think so. It must be.
No modeling... Vir2‘s guitars are also sample-based... and also use Kontakt.
Guitar is actually the only instrument I actually record. Everything else I do from VSTs. These sound pretty good. Would you have any suggestions for clean and distortion les paul or 7 string type guitars for something like symphonic rock and metal?
If you want a good plugin for the heavier end of guitar distortion, check out the Neural DSP Archetype Tosin Abasi plugin, Seems to do that djent stuff pretty well as cleans.
For Myself, I have found that Bias Amp 2 does pretty much all I want as a plugin. I will use it to warm up a basic clean guitar tone from my (usually) Carvin 50 watt amp, and then modify from there. it's a good around package.
This is brilliant! (And super funny too :-)
Broad library. I like your application too
When you use samples to you like to EQ and compress them yourself?
lovely
oh wow, it's The Wonder Years!!
Maybe use a mouse gate on your vocal mic, to stop the annoying sound off the key presses on your midi keyboard.
Really offputtjng in such a percussive sample library especially.
Thanks for the great channel

Are there any sample library guitars that can pull off that slide guitar sound that you hear in the opening of Breaking Bad? Always wondered.
You sort of could do it but some things are easier just buying a cheap slide guitar and doing it yourself
Incidentally, Orange Tree Samples also have an acoustic slide guitar library:
www.orangetreesamples.com/products/slide-acoustic
(There‘s a lap steel slide guitar as well available from them... and just recently Impact Soundworks also released a pedal steel guitar that seems to excellent at slides...)
What kind of Kontakt player/ product are you using? Thanks a lot for an answer..
Now he is using a full version of Kontakt 6
Restricting your palette is the way to go in many ways. And it keeps the music airy and less turgid than it might become.
Can my job be to stand in the corner and offer my opinion as he writes? Mostly it would be 'save your work, nice job'. My go-to library is myself on guitar. Unfortunately I cant play guitar as well as he can on keys. Oh well
👌🏾
By happy coincidence, there's an Orange Tree Samples group buy happening right now.
Thanks, just signed up for 2 products in the group buy. The more that reserve products, the lower the price becomes. Nice idea.
Always like the sound of a guitar with the orchestra.
Orange Tree Samples have a group buy going on right now. No better time to get these guitars. You can join now and pay in august i think. The cheapest way is to get the whole guitar bundle and you'll get all of them for a fraction of the cost.
sounds beautiful.
However, after investing... In hindsight it would have been nice if you had shared that there are some (such as ample) which have "Built in players" to sketch from. Those of us who are new to VST instruments (especially guitars) are not prepared usually for all of the work which is necessary to activate strums. Therefore, to post such a headline, and omit EXTREMELY important functionality details, I (Personally) feel is either done opportunistically (which I don't in this case) or negligently (which I do in this case). Nothing personal. I love your videos, and I am not writing this as an attack, but a criticism which I hope will serve as a useful utility in the future to better inform/serve your loyal audience.
All of that aside, I do truly wish you and your business an extraordinary holiday season.
Sounds too touchy for velocities triggering those sudden unnatural metallic twangs that stick out in a mix. Maybe that can be adjusted in midi sensitivity to make it easier to control.
As I think I mentioned the Maudio keystation 88 is not as subtler as Id like and a Native Instruments S88 would make life a lot easier
It really depends alot what kind of keybed you use for playing. But yes the velocity switching can be a nightmare if you put more than 2 vel zones together (for controlling different articulations. Generally using a cc switch pedal or having the left hand control an octave of different key switches for choosinr articulations is easier to control, but still requires you to "learn" how to use. Its not so bad if you sit at home or in a studio just programming it in a song, but you have to be absolutely "straight on" if using it live where the different articulations are. I also love Orange Tree's libraries. They are really amazing and they have a library for most styles you can think of. My favorites is the Evolution Steel String, Hollowbody Blues, Stratosphere, Strawberry and Banshee
What defines a top quality Midi 88 -key-keyboard
dam this is groovy :D
Where I'm I gonna put the USB cable 🤣
please make a video, about ADDING kontakt to cubase and how to open it, because it is very difficult, also adding .rar file and chord changes
Being a guitarist who is learning keyboard, I find the problem that keyboard players have with making guitar samples sound right is that they play things that are impossible to play on a guitar. Too many fingers at play at the same time. Makes it sound like a harpsichord with effects.
Hmmn. As ever it just doesn't sound entirely right. comes across as a sort of halfway morph between a guitar and a spinet. but those guitar chord voicing will always be difficult to play on a keyboard.
(Semi)Pro Tip: To record a guitar:- find a guitarist, there's usually one or two lying around in the local vicinity. They used to be ten a penny, maybe not so much these days.
laughed too hard at intro and I fell off my chair...
That buzzer in the beginning made my day I don't know why
Happy to help :)
Better idea, get a real guitar. I'm sampling mine, and when I'm done I will release it for free, plus it will completely blow away ALL the free sample packs and even some of the payed ones too.
please do I'd love to hear it! :)
Must be some guitar. Would be interested to hear it.
hahah i love your intros x,D its better than your music! .. lol just kidding :p Im looking forward to joining your education some day when ive earned some money (possibly on music!) :p just got a cubase elements trial and the S49 mkII and love it as my base setup so far :p also, watched many vids like i said, youre funny. :p
Sounds like guitar being played on a keyboard.
Is this legit or product placement?
Having a guitar next to you... Why don't you just record this with your guitar instead of using the samples? Should add more of realistic lively touch to it I think?
I do all the time but A... Im a bit rubbish and B it takes much longer and Im always on a schedule but I hear what you say. I frequently combne the two
@David Russell - by some coincidence, your name conjures up a rather 'competent' well known classical guitarist.
lol
Tom (in the box) is a phenomenal guitarist - that's him playing at the start
haha
😂😂😂😂😂
Guitar on keyboard always sounds like keyboard.
Awe jesus Guy hire a freckn guitar player damn it! :)
