Trucks take more work than any tank model kit. Great Job.👍

At 27:28 in the video you paint the trailer cable plugin cover red and then the right-side taillight red. This is wrong as only the upper left side lens was the 'Service Drive' daylight stop signal. The upper right side and the two lower lenses were clear slits covering the night driving Black-Out Drive lamps used of course for tactical night driving.

Beautiful work so far. I felt your pain with the frosting. That sinking feeling when hours of work go up in a cloud of smoke 💨! Great recovery though.

It was a moment of sheer dread when frosting happened. But thankfully we got a away with it lol

Enjoy watching your work... FYI H40 Flat Base isn't a Matt Varnish. It's used to tone down Gloss Paints, hense the frosting....

Great video as always with top work too.
What a save from the frosting!!
I'd have been gutted if mine dried like that. Then it would have gone into a bath of methylated spirit to strip the lot off. I wouldn't have thought of using a rattle can on it thats for sure.
Looking forward to the next installment, cheers mate

It was a bit of hair raising moment when I first saw the frosting beginning to form all over the model. After all that work its one of the worse feelings in the world to be confronted with the fact it might have been all for nought.
But I discovered that little trick by accident a couple of years ago. But putting a new layer on top of it to reverse the effect. And thank the model gods it worked in this case too lol

@@longlance67 I had a complete disaster with my first 1/35 scale tamiya tank and my first attempt at photo etch.
Ended up stripping the paint off twice in a meth bath and god only knows how many times I had to glue the P. E. Back on.
It was also my first time using pigments and with my complete lack of skill and knowledge I screwed all that up too.
It's in a box now awaiting another stripping haha.
All that said, my latest attempt at a sherman isn't going too good either now I think about it 🤣🤣🤣

Hi Shane, nice work and an even nicer save! You may recall our last conversation about my Italeri debacle - you inspired me with your build, and so I just treated myself with the Tamiya kit along with the Eduard PE set. I'll give it another go because the Italeri kit didn't give me any pleasure at all, and all I want from this hobby is fun, nothing else!!!. Hope you don't mind me "stealing" your way to fabricate the door safety-straps? Cheers, Mike

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  2 роки тому +1

Hey Mike, sometimes its better to leave a bad build behind. And start a better kit that wont punish you for your efforts. You'll find the Tamiya kit far better. Hope you have fun with it mate!

Only the upper left lens of the rear lights should be red. The others were clear and were a part of the Black-Out Drive system used by American made vehicles.
